  1. Not worried at all. Also, pretty sure the deadline coming up is to enter the portal, not to leave it. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
  2. I’d love if he came back for a game this year. It’s been 10 years since the first Big Ten title he won, maybe we can do something to honor that team and bring him back.
  3. Understood. And Duke and UK are big brands because of the players. It’s a chicken or the egg situation, both are needed.
  4. Yes, IU having a historically great program is what sells. That clearly doesn’t happen without the players, though. Not exactly a lot of diehard Ball State fans…
  5. No. This board is a good snapshot into the fact that most people that are college basketball fans are specifically that more-so than they are basketball fans.
  6. I agree with you 100%. In our current economic system in this country the NIL is unequivocally a good thing for individuals and for "labor".
  7. Right, that's not how our economy works so it isn't going to happen. This is not directed at you, but more of a general open ended question, but do we want to restrict the free market determining pay in areas that don't impact our enjoyment of sports/entertainment? I understand this could open a pandoras box to political discourse so mods, feel free to delete if you don't want the hassle.
  8. I hear you, don't disagree in theory, but it's not how the economy works. Not too many people take voluntary pay cuts from what the market says they're worth.
  9. College basketball is known for being more innovative than the NBA Seriously though, NBA coaches have no problem shortening their bench when they need to. Woody showed he'd shorten the bench, change rotations game to game, etc. already.
  10. He has no clue. Even if it’s accurate to say the cost to student for a full year of college with tuition, room, board, food, etc. is $50k that’s not the cost to the school or what they’re providing.
  11. Exactly. If NP never does anything other than college basketball fans seeing stories about how much he got paid by who, the number of people who will go look that up is huge.
  12. But most the complaints I see about the NIL aren’t that the dams broke, it’s that the players are kidding paid at all. I mean, I’m this very thread numerous posters still claim a scholarship is fair compensation.
  13. How was the NCAA supposed to stop this? The legal system is the one that said players have a right to their name, image, and likeness, not the NCAA. If anything, blame the greedy schools and corporations who profited off of the players for years without giving them a cut. If they’d come up with a good solution instead of trying to box the players out this would’ve played out differently.
  14. Jayson Tatum, and a few others, are ascending to that elite level of superstar before our eyes. Love seeing this group of young stars rise up and do what they're doing.
  15. He could, and then you have a federal crime.
  16. He could, and then you have a federal crime.
  17. I don't think Malik or Race will play on the wing. You don't need all 4 guys in a 4 out offense to be able to create and take guys off of the dribble; if they can screen on and off the ball and reliably knock down open shots that'll be great.
  18. Agreed on the offensive look, but RT and MR can both stretch the floor. I won’t be surprised to see them both shooting mid 30s from deep.
  19. To me, there’s one very clear guy that stands to lose minutes with TJD coming back and MR coming in and I agree it’s not an end of the bench guy. We will see how it plays out.
  20. I personally think Race starts and Reneau comes off of the bench, but regardless, I expect the trio of TJD, Race, and MR to dominant all the minutes at the 4/5.
  21. Stats don’t back this up. His shooting numbers from deep are much better in losses than wins.
  22. They didn’t, but Geronimo is terrible at it so why is that a differentiator? He shot in the 20s in conference play from deep.
  23. Yes, a guy shooting in the low 30s from 3 (and in the 20s during conference) and in the 50s from the line is crap. I’m glad he made a few mid range jumpers and can make dunks, but he isn’t creating for himself at all so I’d expect the overall efficiency to be higher. He is so much closer to HMP or Freddie McSwain than he is Vic or OG. I love his potential but right now he hasn’t done anything with it heading into his third season and he’s looking at being buried on the bench in his third season if TJD really is coming back. EDIT: If you’re going to give me PER, he’s in the exact same range as McSwain or HMP with comparable rebound and block numbers. Those three guys really all offered the same thing, where as none of them could touch Vic or even OG with all the other things those two did as Uber athletic guys we have had.
  24. we have Purdue fans on this board? Never noticed
  25. If your point in there are no guys who will probably go down at a top 10 player of all time, then I agree, but if your point is there aren't any future HOF players in that top four I don't think I agree there isn't that type of upside. Honestly, all four of the top four in the draft have that type of upside IMO
