  1. It'll take all of two weeks of him being on campus before we have arguments about him playing the 2 or 3
  2. I think CJ's injuries and Covid really hurt his ranking. I don't think it's fair to put much on him as a freshman in terms of expectations, in part because of the guys he is behind on the depth chart, but I absolutely expect him to be a major contributor in his time at IU.
  3. Your average college basketball game is closer to the 99 NBA than it is the 2022 NBA.
  4. I can't imagine posting the link you did, and then sitting here with a straight face and saying this. The link you posted shows: Scoring per possession is at an all-time high in the NBA eFG% which weights 2s vs 3s, is at an all-time high in the NBA turnover percentages are at historical lows The offense right now in the NBA is as good as it's ever been.Your link makes that clear, thank you for posting it!
  5. The style is more efficient. I can’t control for things like guys not staying college, the one and done, the officiating changes, the game being over-coached, but the current style teams strive to play in basketball is more efficient.
  6. Who said otherwise? You kinda just pointed out the schemes in the 80s were inferior despite you liking them better, and I agree.
  7. 1) I was a moderate fan growing up, but only my Grandpa was actually an IU fan and I was the first IU grad in my family. My first college football game was against PSU when I was 4, so there's that. Shocking as it may be to some, my first game at Assembly Hall was Dane Fife's Senior Night; I had seats fourth row behind the bench. I would say I really became a die-hard fan my senior year in high school when I decided to attend IU (fall 2006) and it's all been downhill for my mental health ever since. 2) I assume this is a basketball related question, which does drastically change my answer of my favorite IU memories as I'm sure it does for many on here. My wife and my first post honeymoon trip was the 2012 pre-season tournament we played in at the Barclay's Center where Bob Knight called the game - that's a great one for a lot of reasons. 2002 was great even though I wouldn't have called myself a die-hard fan at that point. The Wat Shot and both UM games the following year.
  8. I don't think most college teams run NBA level offenses, and I think the biggest reason scoring is down is because of the officiating and the game being over-coached. But regardless.... this is the NBA thread, no?
  9. A good recipe for success in any sport - get a good matchup for your playmaker and get them in space. That's good offense and good things will happen; all the old stuff in basketball, football, etc. isn't as efficient as that. We all have preferences in what we do and don't like, but there is no doubt about what is actually the best in terms of scoring.
  10. Then don't watch? These numbers kind of show that a lot of midrange isn't working, most of those guys are already out of the playoffs. The two guys left are at best the secondary scoring option on their team.
  11. They lost at home in a game Dray got tossed in the first half, and the Warriors missed last field goals. If they can’t win that game they aren’t winning four. They are very good and have a bright future, but they’re at least a year away. The Dubs are honestly just as deep as them when they’re healthy and have experience on them tenfold.
  12. I think the Grizz are a year ahead of schedule and don’t know how to win in the playoffs. They don’t have a vet that’s been there, some that like the Suns had last year. Still a year away IMO.
  13. I can think of a few that I wouldn't be surprised had a decision to make.
  14. So this is a really interesting point - ESPN doesn't have to negotiate with Steph Curry to show a highlight of his on a commercial for an upcoming game because it's covered under the TV deal the NBA has with ESPN, and the ultimately does trickle down to Steph. In the case of college athletes, it doesn't. They're not getting paid directly as part of that TV deal like Steph is in the form of his salary. I wonder what future court cases we may see covering this sort of thing, because from my amateur view it is a grey area.
  15. Most college coaches could never survive in the NBA.
  16. Do you work without the type of offer you think you're deserving of? I don't, I guess that makes me a diva.
  17. I think the Dubs are going to be a tough out for anyone. Three HOFers, two more guys coming into their own in Poole and Wiggins, a HOF coach.... they're a lot to handle.
  18. We have some really great members on this board.
  19. That's true now, but earlier in his career there were lots of times he gave selective effort. I don't struggle to believe his first couple years he didn't give consistent effort off of the court. That said, I think he gives it now and he's really vaulted his legacy. If he comes back and we were to have one of our better seasons since the 90s I think he could really cement his legacy.
  20. Sure, I don’t disagree. But it puts pressure on employers to do the right thing with how they pay their employees, and that’s a good thing isn’t it?
  21. I completely understand why you, as an employer wouldn’t want that. I even believe a lot of employers think they pay their employees all fairly. And I’m not saying I think all employees should be compensated the same, but I think the more we talk about it and have data around it the better it is for labor and for employees; that inherently is worse for employers and is why employers push hard against this IMO.
  22. I would personally take Brooks over some guys on our team, but recognize that’s a debatable point.
  23. Why? This only benefits employers to have employees not talk about this.
  24. So he should graduate from UI this summer and transfer to UM with his grad transfer.
