I think someone needs to check Woodson to see if he is clinically insane

Didn’t he say after TJD and race moved on we would see a more perimeter oriented team? Even when given the opportunity we haven’t seen it. That’s why I’m skeptical things will change next year even if we’re supposedly gonna hit the portal hard.

I'll premise this by saying I had to listen to the radio broadcast the first 16 minutes.

That said, I agree with @BGleas.  The officials royally screwed IU.  No, IU wasn't going to be ahead in this game the way they shot the ball.  But, the officials totally took IU out of the game with the early 7-1 foul discrepancy.  Even if the fouls afterwards were even, the early foul flurry set the tone for the game.  There is NO good reason for that kind of discrepancy.  It is either intentionally favoring the better team, or it's an embarrassing level of incompetence.

If IU has not shaved 6-8 points off the score in the first 5 minutes of the half, Coach Woodson needs to hit Francon1.

How about 5 points in 60 seconds?

I thought Mac's defense was pretty good...He was guarding Cam Christie most of the night, and Christie shot 2-10 and was 3 points below his season average...

Watched the game a second time, and Kel'el's D on Payne was pretty poor...I think until he gets with Clif and increases his strength, Ware will always have problems with physical, high motor guys...

I also don't discount that Mgbako was the impetus behind our quick, aggressive start...Woody alluded to that in his postgame...

I thought Mgbako did decent on defense but I didn’t make it a focus to watch him. Overall he still needs to continue to improve on that end though. Agree with you on Ware getting stronger and Mgbako getting us started early.

Something that I find a little strange… several games now we have had 2-3 threes at the beginning of the game and then we seem to shy away from it the rest of the game. Auburn and Minnesota are the two I can think off at the top of my head. Not saying we need to shoot 20 a game, just an interesting observation of mine. I think it has to do with us scripting the first several possessions of the game if I had to guess.

The kid can hit shots. I’m at a loss as to why he doesn’t shoot when he gets open looks. Freshmen jitters should have went away long ago. Especially at home games.

It hurts us that he’s not as aggressive as he should be when he’s in. He doesn’t need to be option #1, but sometimes it feels like 4 on 5 when he’s in because he’s too passive. Regardless, he’s been better than X lately.

I get the joke.  But to your point.  How are we going to keep Edey from scoring 40 if Payne did whatever he wanted?

I’m worried about that too after watching the game. I don’t think we’ve really doubled anyone this season have we? My memory might be off on that but I think we may see some of that against Edey. I could see Cupps being a pest and coming up with a couple of steals that way.

He's never scored 40 in a game in college :)

But I hear you. He'll get his. I think we might see Sparks in for a while to get physical with him...Nebraska held him to 15 points by limiting his shots (10)...And shooting 61% from 3 didn't hurt :)

But it's the other kids that we can't let have great games...Check Loyer, Smith, and Jones, and we can win...

I agree on Sparks… I was actually gonna mention I’m surprised  that we didn’t see any of him last night. I’m certainly not gonna complain about the shortened rotation but I thought he could’ve battled with Payne down low.

i guess in this case, we would be comparing his defense to Mtaco's though right?  are we saying MM's was better?  where do we see that?  blocks?  steals?

Oh I’m certainly not saying Mgbako was any better on defense. I wasn’t necessarily using it as rationale for voting for Mgbako, just responding to a comment that I noticed the same thing. Maybe that’s better suited for the post game thread than this one though

Yeah, Pharrel Payne had his way on the offensive end as well...

That stuck out to me as well… overall really solid game for Ware but he just isn’t quite strong enough to stop some guys down low.

Did the crowd applaud to appreciate X’s effort, or because he was sitting?

I think because he went to the bench… which I’m not really a fan of. I don’t care what our players do, fans shouldn’t react that way IMO.

It is.  Not a huge fan of IDP as it can be quite a bit more random as far as scoring each week.  But, you do have some guys like Zaire Franklin, who I have, that give you a consistent 8-12 tackles each week.  The real fluctuations on defense come from turnovers and sacks.

I do enjoy the keeper part.  Adds some strategy.  Going into this past season we could only keep 3 offensive players from the previous year. And, I had 4 guys I really wanted to keep (Jefferson, St. Brown, Kelce, and McCaffrey).

I chose St. Brown over McCaffrey due to age and injury history, and despite McCaffrey's huge season, I dont regret it. Drafting last, I knew I would not get him back, and he was #1 off the board in th he draft.  I still won the Championship this year without him.   If I had a do-over, I would have dropped Kelce instead.

I'm seriously considering letting Kelce go after this season and keeping Rice as my primary piece of the Chiefs offense.  In addition to my 3 receivers, I want to keep 2 of my QBs and J. Taylor at RB.  All the QB injuries this year have me gun-shy about not rostering ahead of time.

In a 2 QB league, you are up a creek if you're starting guys like Kenny Pickett or Sam Howell each week.  As of now, I'm planning on keeping Love and Herbert and letting Lawrence go with the hope that a 3rd legit QB starter is still available when I draft at the turn.

I like the idea of a keeper league. May have to talk my buddies into it.

My ESPN league is a 2QB, 3WR, IDP format with 16 starters each week (6 defense) and 26 man rosters.

Requires a lot of work to maintain sufficient depth at each position.

For next season we get to keep 6 offensive and 3 defensive players.  It's going to feel good to knowing I can start the season with  WR core of Jefferson, St. Brown, and Rice.

Wow that seems a little too complex/involved for my group haha. That definitely sounds fun though.

Always nice to get a W each year. Going to be interesting to see how things unfold next year. Feel like some players will be dropping because of Father Time and others jumping. Here's a first look. I can tell you that if I could start my team off with a Kyren Williams/Puca Nacua at the turn I'd be happy.

I won my 8 team league this year so I’ll be drafting at the 8-9 spots. I’m targeting St. Brown for sure. I snagged him late second round last year and he was a league winner for me. Don’t know who else I’ll target but I like AJ Brown and Breece Hall at that spot too if I can get them.
