  1. They made more 3's (at a higher percentage), they made more FG's (at a higher percentage), out rebounded us, AND limited our All-American to his lowest totals of the year. FT and turnovers where the difference but this time we were the team on the good side of those. Plus, we just wanted it more 😄
  2. No one I would rather see hit that last shot than Rob! I was in the "please don't storm the court" camp before the game but hell, I would have been the first one out of stands if I was there in person.
  3. I don't think meeting Archie on campus would have swayed him unless he really likes grape gum
  4. I'm tired of it too and think our guys will be up for it but I think PU will be up for it as well and just don't feel we have the horses to pull it out. We'll compete (unlike last year's fiasco) but in the end I think it'll be PU 74 Good Guys 68. (It should be noted that I'm a very pessimistic person when it comes to my sports teams 😉 )
  5. I'm calling it now... XJ gets in foul trouble, Rob is ineffective, Lander comes in miraculously stops turning the ball over and single-handedly leads IU to a 10 point win
  6. I thought his comments about Rob were telling. Archie did a number on that kid.
  7. I would agree and don't think Stewart is the answer for keeping him out of the paint.
  8. Sounds like we have to pick our poison with Ivey. Limit his 3's or his drives?
  9. We completely wilted under the pressure of his return in that game last year and there is still huge pressure on this team to beat PU and get that cow loving monkey off our backs. How we handle that pressure will be key. Will we play loose like we have nothing to lose or pucker up again? Purdue has 0 pressure on them in this game. They've owned us for years (I threw up in my mouth typing that). That much pressure plus playing a team that is better than our team (if you can't admit that then you're kidding yourself) is not a good combination. Woodson and Fife will certainly bring a different level of perspective to this game than the previous staff did, but will that be enough?
  10. I feel the same way but you know they are going to if we happen to pull out a win. None of them have experienced a win over PU
  11. There was a time I would like our chances against Texas and Oregon in recruiting but with the NIL all I can think about is how much more money those schools will probably be able to throw at him.
  12. So a team that hasn't won a road conference game in forever and has to play a big chunk of the end without their all-american, puckers a bit on offense but nuts up on D and finishes the game yet I'm sitting there thinking to myself "man, the dudes on HSN are just going to complain about this". Nailed it. SMH
  13. It will be really interesting to see how all this money impacts the transfer portals as well. I'm afraid it's just all pointing to the major college sports fully shifting to a semi-pro model with free agency bidding wars. The "playing field" will never again sniff being level. Just wait till the networks figure out how to leverage the NIL and funnel even more money to the schools/conferences they have contracts with. R.I.P. college sports
  14. We've lost 4 road games. That's unacceptable at IU!
  15. Exactly! This staff (as any good staff should) is trying to win now as opposed to using this season to only develop guys for the future. X give us the best chance to win period. There is no one on our bench that could have come in and got us over the hump in any of the games we've lost. If Woodson would have pulled a CBK and conceded the game by rolling out "4 freshman plus Uwe" to send a message, this board would have probably crashed from the backlash.
  16. I feel the same But I hope this pays off
  17. This and if we get shots to fall on those double teams. 2-15 won't cut it in this game.
  18. I see that Iowa is currently favored by 3. Vegas must have heard that CMW didn't pack his suit.
  19. I don't expect our starting lineup to change and honestly I don't think it should. Coach said recently that "it doesn't matter who starts it matters who finishes". The staff demonstrated that in the last two game. They are spreading the minutes out so no one outside of TJD is playing 30+ without a significant drop-off on either end of the floor. To me this pays dividends across a long brutal conference schedule in many ways. Galloway/Rob played 19/22 and 22/29 in the last two games coming off the bench and both finished those games. There has been plenty of discussion on here about the benefits of particular guys coming off the bench vs starting and I'm in the believer camp there for sure.
  20. But there are some teams (PU and OSU) that just seem to feel right "at home" in Assembly Hall lately. Like some previous posters, I don't have positive vibes about tonight at all. I still haven't gotten over the debacle in 2013 when IU didn't show up on Sr. night against OSU and the cringy banner hanging that followed.
  21. Can we go ahead and fire up the Kansas pre-game thread? 😜
  22. I don't disagree with any of this. I think we could agree that knowing what it takes to win (i.e. experience on winning teams) vs trying to win are different. My point is that I thought XJ was at least trying to win where everyone else was trying not to loose. "Prevent defense" is a great analogy. 9 times out of 10 it prevents you from winning. CMW said in the post game that they need to keep doing the things that got them the lead and that just didn't happen.
  23. Certainly not when he's surrounded by a bunch of guys who are just trying not to lose
