Proof will be in the pudding next year with wins....but seriously. Woodson is absolutely crushing this first month. Crushing it.
While I wasn't all that thrilled with the hire I really like what he has done so far. Getting Trayce to stay along with the others that came back was huge. Then you add in Johnson, Bates and Kopp and we have the makings of a really good team next season. I'm probably at about 90% liking the hire now, need to see some actual games played to be at 100%.

To be honest, I think both of them like IU and want Indiana to be good.
Dakich I can agree with, but Goodman most definitely does not like IU. His obsessive tweeting about IU will plummet once the Hoosiers are back winning consistently.

Like picking Rodgers didn't sour Brett Favre?
Probably so, but that doesn't change what I said about Rodgers.

Take some of these comments coupled with Packers drafting QB last year I just don't see this thing lasting more than this season.
Yeah when they traded up to draft Jordan Love instead of getting Rodgers some weapons that kind of soured him with them I would imagine.

Purdue is probably a top 20-25 program historically. Not elite but solid historically.
Solid fits them perfectly. If their two greatest coaches of all time had gotten them to a final four they might be top 20.
Painter has the players returning and coming in that he has no excuse to not do better in the tourney. It would be a bad look if he fails the next couple of years in the tourney.

Maybe expectations are too high.
Or maybe they are to low at Purdue. They seem to be happy with having a good regular season and never advancing to the Final Four.

This is the one guy I really wanted IU to get once he became available. I think he will be huge for the Hoosiers. They have potentially the best backcourt in the B1G. 👍 💪

Not a transfer but this thread is getting most eyes. As expected....Kofi Cockburn is leaving Illinois for NBA.
With the players Illinois has lost we will see how good of a coach Underwood is. In my opinion they will struggle big time next season. And if they do I will be extremely happy.

That team with Hummel wasn’t one of the favorites to win it all? They were poised to be ranked #1 before he got hurt at Minnesota.
That would be the only one I would even consider thinking they had an outside chance of winning it all.

Obviously upsets to 14 seeds aren’t a regular thing, that’s why they’re upsets, can we just agree Painter is a solid coach, probably wishes he wears Red, and he may get you guys a final 4, should be solid - your recruiting has picked up. But you couldn’t get there with the Big Dog so I’m not too worried .
Like you said Purdue and Painter are a solid program, but as an IU fan I want more then just solid. I want IU to be number one seeds and occasionally have a chance to win it all. I've never once considered Purdue under Painter a favorite to win it all. Going into the tournament a couple of times i've thought they could make a decent little run but that's it.

It would have been so easy for Rob to just leave and he hasn’t. I give him respect for that.
After the season he just had and having a new coach he could have easily transferred, but to stick with IU says a lot about him. 👍
If he can get confidence back in his shot, with his defense and experience he could be big for us next season.

Woodson hasn't even coached a single game and we're already talking about the next head coach...
So big deal, he is 63 years old so he won't be here forever.
It's just a discussion, nothing more nothing less. 😐 😒

I think Fife will be the next iu coach
I think you are probably right.

Keeping Hunter was a great move in my opinion. 👍
The Fife hire could potentially mean we have our next coach already in place once Coach Woodson retires.

Need to develop an attitude where we have leaders who get pissed off when an opponent starts to go off.
We haven't had that for some time.
This has been one of IU biggest downfalls the last couple of years, someone that has an attitude and gets pissed off and goes right back at the other team. Hopefully we can start to develop that next season.

It's ridiculous some of the stuff people put out there.
Yes it is, but every single fanbase does it, not just IU.
IU has been down for awhile now so it's easy for the media to kick the fanbase and say how bad we are. If IU was winning more you wouldn't hear about it as much, they would just say we are passionate about our Hoosiers.

There is a sector of awful fans of Twitter in every fan base. Twitter is like the wild west. Lol
This 100% 👍
If someone thinks there's not they just need to google E.J Liddell after the Ohio State loss in the tournament, or the Masshole whenever the Celtics go on a losing streak.

Particularly, I think Leal has more upside than some people realize.
I think they both have more potential then some realize. Like you said I doubt either of them will be stars but I think they both can be really good B1G players.

Yasir hasn't threatened to have a high school kid deported.
No but he was trying to sell them like they were his property.
Now that being said I trust Coach Woodson on this hire and am ok with it, just as long as we stay in the grey area and not the red.

May be another way of saying this:
Nevada head coach and former Indiana All-American Steve Alford almost immediately went public saying he was committed to the Wolf Pack and would not pursue the job at his alma mater. Which is good, because Indiana had absolutely no interest in hiring him.
Alford clearly got wind Indiana had no interest in his services so he contacted some friendly media members to let them know he wasn't interested:

If it's true that an alum was telling coaches not to and it kept us from going after Alford, then whoever it was needs a statue in front of Assembly Hall. 👍 😁

Back the program or find another... we are trying to build a team for next year, and here we are with all the negativity again. It is exhausting!
This is ridiculous, just because people are questioning this hire doesn't mean they don't back IU. I didn't know that you had to blindly support every move that IU and Coach Woodson made. I joined this forum recently because I thought it was reasonable and differing opinions are allowed, it looks like I might have been wrong.

I don't think anyone is advocating cheating. Maybe "stretch, the rules a little, but not cheating.
At least that's my take....
The thing is this guy tried to do more then stretch the rules, he tried to go full nuclear. Hopefully that is a thing of the past with him.
