Haha. Nothing like a bunch of middle aged dudes debating fashion on a sports forum. We’re hip on all the trends. I believe we are the ones that, what the kids say, have RIZZ. Did i use that term right? 😆
Yeah, it’s probably a good sign that these uniforms are getting bad reviews from the 40-60 year old demographic.
My daughter says “it eats”. I’m 49 but love IU doing these things. Adidas is just trying to stay relevant. It’s working. Liam and others tweeted these. JHS is porting fear of god stuff too.

I like them. The shoes look great but that’s because I’m not 65 and still wear Levi 505’s and NB boomer shoes. The recruits and former players love them. JHS was sporting them yesterday.

I go back and forth on if the defensive problems are more schematic or personnel. I'm sure it's a bit of both but our current roster has no one who can guard the ball and disrupt the opponent's offense at the point of attack. Everything breaks down after that - forced into bad or no switches, over helping to counter penetration into the lane, out of position to recover on a shooter etc.
bingo. Straight line drives. That’s a personnel problem. X was/is our best at it.

To me, there’s a big difference between NIL opportunities for existing players versus using NIL to “buy” players. NIL isn’t supposed to be used to entice recruits/transfers to come to your school but there’s no way to police that. Purdue isn’t in the business of “buying” players and I don’t think that’ll change. Edey has certainly done well for himself no doubt about it.
Not sure what you mean re “up their NIL game” in other areas? Our NIL is more than competitive.
You do realize that inducement rules break antitrust rules right? That rule will soon be tied up with an injunction because of it. Don’t you think for a second Painter won’t use that advantage and may already have after the Pack incident. The big dogs now use two funds. One to attract and one to keep. The ncaa are stumbling idiots. So you are against the rule because the NCAA told you to be.

I was saying I hope the reason we ended up with a coach like Woodson was because the rest of the better coaches (Drew, Beard, Few, Muss, etc) said no first.
Thats bad actually. Drew, Beard are and never were candidates. Few and miss either.

Thanks. The article makes it sound like it was Stevens then Woodson but I would assume there were several other coaches before that that said no. At least I hope so lol.
Why would you hope a bunch said no? I’d say it was Stevens and then fall back to Woody.

Family wants him close to home but he’s waiting to see which of the other 3 are the best option ?
Family always want kids close but he’s been in Florida for 4 years. Not sure that’s an issue at all.

Probably right
He can now but chooses to do his own scouting which includes making sure they fit the culture
MP got tired of finishing 2nd in recruiting
Also got tired of the bag man and the last second reversal
This is where we disagree. Bagmen are legal.

Maryland in trouble?
It’s always been those 4. It’s fans who said he was down to Maryland and IU.

Not sure why you are naming them
MP went after Yogi & Bluitt hard
Cody was a lost cause
Current coaches wouldn’t recruit Yogi at 5’?
I’m saying you couldn’t get guys like that.

Should have kept Matta.
Matta wasn’t in great shape. He missed games had a failed back surgery. Took him years to get back in coaching shape. It was as much Matta decision.

I would hope not.
MM & Ware were straight transactions
MR was 🐊 until coach left and JHS talked him into IU
Basically the coaches check 5 star list and top 20 portal players…and take trips to Florida. Do they ever just scout players or teams ?
the more I think about it MM & MR weren’t recruited by coaches
Ok..Cody, yogi? Should I name more?

@kyhoosier29 In what way am I wrong? If a new coach comes in next year. We wouldn't run him out of town by year 6 if he didn't make it past the Sweet 16 in his first 5 years?
Nope you are correct. If mm, trey and X were hitting open shots this talk goes away. Alt least mostly. Imho

I don’t know what the situation was with him exactly but I believe his handlers are shooting for the moon.
Just canceled his Georgia visit. NIL etc…can hurt kids like this. It’s a shame kids get shopped around. Hope that’s not the case.

From a Purdue fan’s perspective, my guess is IU would’ve let him go after his 2013 and 2014 seasons. I think they would’ve gotten antsy and pulled the plug. I think it’s clear now that those two years were an anomaly and far from the norm and it worked out that Purdue gave him the benefit of the doubt when he was going through his divorce.
Archie happened. Crean was drying up. But I’ll tell you he would’ve been gone. Absolutely. To our detriment? Who knows. Couldn’t be any worse.

Ok, @IU Scott, let me ask you this...
If Matt Painter had the same record/results at IU that he's had at Purdue, do you think he'd still be our coach?
Easy answer.

I think it’s a little of both tbh. I think early on Painter went for more of the higher-rated guys and missed (I’m thinking guys like Zeller and Dawson) without a great back-up plan and adjusted his approach a bit. I think he looks for great cultural fits and gets in on guys earlier than other schools do (think Kanon Catchings) and has them sold on Purdue before they blow up in the rankings. And I think he’s better about not wasting time on lost causes too. After Tyler Zeller said no, he didn’t waste any time recruiting Cody and knew it’d be a waste of time to recruit Langford. We’ll never be a program that spends big money in the transfer portal because Painter will use it to supplement/round out the roster not completely rebuild it like so many programs are doing these days.
Maybe but let’s be honest…Catchings is a legacy and wasn’t going anywhere else. Like I said you recruit who you might get and pu may win one eventually. I’m just saying he isn’t going to get 1-2 5*.

Do you blame Sisley with the awful scheme we play on both ends of the floor?? Sisley was a clear IU lean from the beginning but the product is so bad at IU right now you can’t blame him for looking elsewhere…this is on Woodson and staff
We run the same stuff most programs do. Purdue and IU run the same actions. We have no shooting. I know I say it a lot but zoom creates multiple shots. If you don’t hit any of them then it looks terrible. If you are a shooter and can defend then you are skilled and will thrive.

Agreed. Painter seems to lean toward kids that will be likely to stay 3-4 years, vs the NBA/OAD types. It’s great for continuity in the program but not so great for the “I’ll get you to the NBA pitch”. Hopefully Ivey and Edey can both prosper in the league, that will help.
At the end of the day I still think Sisley is IUs to lose. I’d rather see him there than up north at Thug U…
You say lean that way? I’d say it’s been more forced that way. You think MM, Langford, Ware, MR…etc would ever end up at PU?

Cupps gets a lot bc he came into IU with a huge following. It’s crazy but him being bros with Lbj is bringing him huge money. He is an outlier for non 5 star freshmen NIL wise.
People forget you build a brand regardless of collectives. The twins in Miami already had a huge following before the Miami deal. Cupps took advantage. Great job.

MM is lost on defense
It seems obvious that he was promised playing time at the 3 no matter what
He skipped Duke when Filipkowski came back
PS once again CMW has him guard Morton closely while Smith does layup drills
KL = Ronnie Johnson? ? ?
Run like a deer
Shoot like a deer
Promised? He’s literally the only 3 we have. He’s really not a natural wing. He’s more of a 4 and he’s still being considered as B1G freshman of the year playing out of position. He literally had zero competition for his spot.
