Well, at least he knows it was signed by Skeens himself...

Yankees lore says that clubhouse man Pete Previte used to sign dozens of balls for Micky Mantle :)

Skenes or people like him have to be pretty guarded on signatures. I know the PGA guys if adults are asking for autographs they'll pass because the stuff ends up on Ebay or other sites.

So I don't get the point of autographs any more...

Wasn't it always to "prove" you met someone? With every person on the planet having a camera in their pocket, wouldn't a pic accomplish the same thing, only better? Plus, no writer's cramp :)

My buddies kid is a rare 8 year old. He loves autographs vs photos. Has quite the collection going so far.

I'd still keep his inning/pitch count down, regardless of the level he's pitching, but I can't disagree with what you're saying.

I'd probably try and make it a pretty big deal for Pitt, though, if I did call him up. I'd make sure it's a home game, maybe a Friday game when you know it's nice weather, after an off day, hype it up and all that? idk.

One other thing I'll add. We left early but another couple stuck around with their son because he wanted to try and get his autograph. He just texted me this morning that the line was 100+ deep after the game and Skenes stuck around long after the game and signed every single one.

Same thing he did to the SEC last year. Absolutely unhittable. Struck out 209 in 122 innings. 20BB 3HBP

12.2IP 27K in AAA right now (I'm not sure if that included last night or not)

He struck out 8 in his 3+ innings last night. I have no clue how long it's sustainable but if I'm the Pirates....he's being called up asap.

    He's coming

We went last night to check him out. I doubt he's in Indy much longer so we wanted to see and hear him with our own eyes.

I don't even really have a comparison. Some say Strasburg but I think Skenes is in his own class....and he was making AAA batters look really, really bad. I mean AAA players are 1 injury or call up away from the show and Skenes made them look like right fielders in tee ball.

  6. For the Indy folks. If you love Detroit style there's a place on 10th St called Sam's Square Pie. Owner was working in the NFL as a camera operator or something. His brother (was a big DJ here in Indy) died and he opened the joint up.

Really, really good. Only thing. As someone who volunteers quite a bit down the street at a church....the area isn't the best. Be aware is all I would say.

Social media rumors strike again.  Rory is not my favorite, but at the same time I would hate to see him defect.  Kind of like Phil with me.  Wish Phil would have stayed.

On the other hand, guys like Koepka, DeChambeau, and Cam Smith?  I enjoy PGA golf more without them.

Tough one for me and I wish these idiots would figure it out. My lifetime of fandom has been Calvin Peete, Tom Watson, Payne Stewart, and Tiger....with the latter carrying  me for the past 25.

As a fan I've been saddling up with others and I honestly loved and probably still do Brooks, Rahm, and partially Cam. Brooks for his no sh--- attitude of I'm just going to beat you, Rahm with his personality and as a short back swing guy myself we have to stick together....and Cam....man his talent on the greens.

Hopefully something can get worked out and all of this nonsense is put to bed.

There are a lot reasons this guy and others are coming to IU. Money is certainly part of it. But he was getting paid here or somewhere else.

    Ware and TJD say hello

we have a coach that has developed 2 big guys and will. it Bello in pick n roll.

We have a passionate fan base. both good and bad.  17,000 plus for every home game. National TV schedule and basically every game on TV.

The belief that money is the reason we are getting recruits is false. The money is was coming from other schools too.

Give the coaching staff some props. we want to give them shit when things go bad. Give them credit when they do good

This all day. Sure $ is a key factor but TJD and Ware are factored in here as well. To suggest it's only $ would be by someone who is jealous, envious or dumb as f....and likely all 3.

BC is the biggest cheat in golf. His caddy Andy quit him because he cheated so much.

I've just never liked the dude. Could never put my finger on it but just rubbed me the wrong way....and yet 20+ years later he's still getting paid.

Dont look now, if Rory goes to LIV look out. LIV will go to 72 holes with a cut have qualifying every year. and the PGA Tour will go broke. After LIV plucks top player after top player. VH not to far behind Rory. The tour jerked around the PIF to long. they will bury them.

Just my two cents....even after Rory said it wasn't true today....it could just be positioning or floating the idea it's happening after the LIV group as a hole didn't do well at Augusta. I mean I know Cam and Bryson did well...but Rahm, Koepka, DJ and others all failed. You can't tell me not playing competitive golf didn't factor in just a little bit.

  11. Had to laugh. Wife is doing continuing education this week and one of the classes was on NIL. The instructor/attorney just said on video conference that the player cannot be contacted by anyone until he or she enters the portal.

Glad she had it on mute because I said yeah right buddy...join the real world.

    I love Adam Howard lol

Only second to Marni Mooney back in the day. All you had to do was see who she was following and you knew they were coming to IU. The Blackmon Jr was an all timer. She was the only person that still followed him and poof....

To keep it on topic though. Thanks again to the folks who share. If we add Carlyle or Conwell, with Ballo and Hickman, while bringing in Tucker to add to MR, MM, and TG....what a couple of weeks.
