  1. Yankees ace pitcher, Gerrit Cole, probably solidified his AL Cy Young chances last night beating the Blue Jays, 5-3. Cole pitched his last home game of the season going 8 innings with 9 strikeouts and 1 hit, the only run scored on a passed ball. He is 14-4 and a 2.75 era for the year. He has been a bright spot in an otherwise dismal year. For all you Yankee haters, playoffs won't be the same without the Pinstripes this year....
  2. Sure that wasn't the Space X satellites?? 🤣
  3. You guys have a "secret handshake"? I know my son and his fraternity does and he won't show dear ol' dad!!
  4. Hey Reacher, Did you get to see the bear at Magic Kingdom, near Tom Sawyers Island today??
  5. That was the problem with Bader when he was on the Yanks roster... Couldn't stay healthy
  6. Don't want to hear any BS that the coaching staff isn't recruiting hard enough....
  7. Just not doing Yankees games. His bias is almost unwatchable....
  8. UPDATE: Well the Otters 2023 season came to a close last night. Unfortunaely, not the way the players and fans wanted. the Otters lost to the Quebec Capitales 12-3 in the championship game. After losing the first 2 games, the Otters did make it interesting though. Still, a good season for them.
  9. You're close.... But, sadly our newspaper has more sports articles about pUKe, L'ville, and Peeyuu!! IU is almost an afterthought.... 🙄
  10. You have to know Irish eyes are smiling and are totally happy with the WF cast off....
  11. Article in our local newspaper today (yes I still take the newspaper), about Trent. There are quite a few suitors for this young man. The recruiting is getting really crowded....
  12. Well it's winner take all tonight in game 5 of the Frontier League Series!! The Evansville Otters won 3-2 in a wild finish to tie the series at 2 games each! The Otters were down 2-1 in the bottom of the 8th and Evansville had runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. The Otters tried a double steal and the Quebec pitcher saw it and fired the ball over to the third basemen. However, it was a bad throw going past him and the ball rolled all the way to the wall. Both runners scored which resulted in the final score. So E'ville moves on and sets up the deciding game tonight at Bosse Field!! Phew... Go Otters Go USA
  13. WOW, bad breaks for sure. I was looking forward to the Reitz vs. Memorial matchup. Did see where the Tigers beat up Central though.
  14. Just thought I would give an update on the Frontier League Championship series. The Otters came home down 0-2 in a best of 5. They lost a heartbreaker on Tuesday night when they lost 7-5 on a walkoff 2 run homer. So tonight was game 3 and the Otters took out their frustrations by beating Quebec Capitales 14-5!! They live to play game 3 tomorrow night. Go Otters!! Go USA!!!
  15. What fraternity did you belong to? My son, who graduated from USI, is a Lambda Chi Alpha.... Their off-campus house, which was behind the Fall Festival, had an empty lot next to it and the fraternity made money parking cars there.
  16. Can't say I have heard the term "West Evansville". But at one time I actually considered living in New Harmony, just couldn't convince the wife to do it. It is a really neat small town, think Mayberry.
  17. Fall Festivals!!! Let's hear it for Evansville!! Every fall, and the first week in October, Evansville has the West Side Fall Festival. People come from miles around to get their brain sandwiches, pronto pups and candy apples. I swear you could smell the grease from a mile away, LOL!! Anyway, USA Today conducted a poll to see what city had the best festival. Happy to say the Nut Clubbers, announced that the West Side festival came out on top!! It used to be known as the second largest street festival in the country, second only to the Mardi Gras! One thing they started a few years ago was the half-pot ticket sales and it has been widely popular. A lot of the proceeds the Nut Clubbers is then turned back to the schools (parochial as well as public), and other non-profit organizations, not just schools on one side of town. So if you're going to be in the E'ville area around October 2nd thru the 7th, just follow your nose and get your brain sandwich!! West Side Nut Club earns top spot as USA Today’s ‘Best Fall Festival’ in U.S. (14news.com)
  18. Aaron Judge hit a grand slam home run in last night's game against the Red Sawks, in the Yanks 8-5 win. It is his 32nd homer of the season, not too shabby considering he missed 2 months of the season. The Yankees are now officially tied for last place in the AL East with Boston!! WooHoo.....
