  1. It is not a single thing. It is everything those schools have. When you experience it, it is more impressive. This is not about IU being a dump before Scott says that again. Few examples - those schools don’t share with other teams. Weight rooms, private chefs, etc for BB, Football, Baseball for some etc. IU shares lot of resources across all sports -weight room is just ok. Heck, Westfield High School has a better weight room. - athlete living spaces, lounges, game rooms, etc. you see some there. Is it crappy…‘heck no. Same as those schools, no. - this also kills our football team even more than BB and these guys like sports. Played football (many did) and like good football to go watch. then they beat us on the court too. So… what do we have to sell? My opinion is Woody has been great at pulling some top guys. I also think it is interesting that Ware comes from better facilities, etc but for him, he came from a very bad situation. His focus is 100% different than those Knecht/Ledlum
  2. Look, we have the other thread but I’m telling you guys this is clear. Even people like Ant Wright are like WTH on Twitter right now. I was very confident Ledlum wanted IU and everyone else too. I even made that call clearly. He was 99% in. Almost didn’t do Tennessee visit. He does and bam. you tell me what flipped him. No, it wasn’t under the table payments or play style. He is too smart for that. He liked all they have to offer athletes more. It is impressive. FYI.. they had a huge orange and white game that weekend and I happened to be in Knoxville. The whole freaking city was going. (good football team and campus life around football and fyi… he almost chose to play football instead in college.) then, I could see him and Knecht talking at the game. “IU? - “I loved it but man, but this is different. IU is very nice and better than where either of us came from but not this.” oh… they also have been better than us for years now in the court. we can win head to head with these schools once results are consistent. We can’t right now when we don’t have anything major to offer. The package is not that nice competitively. Don’t believe it or do. Reality is as some have said, you would chose the nba coach, the history, the top college town etc. they are not you. Why do you think there has been an arms race to make everything crazy nice for athletes at these schools? lastly, you think this hurts BB. It kills our football.
  3. For anyone that actually wants to discuss it, I will monitor. If you want to keep trying to prove why you are right, sorry. When you have been to these places you know.
  4. Scott, this isn’t the point. How hard to I have to try and get you to even want to listen. others are better, they beat us in the court, the athlete living facilities, the chefs, etc. I have been on these tours. Also, from this saying “well, better than where they came from.” first, who doesn’t want the best, 2nd the Westfield and Carmel high schools have better weight rooms than IUs. It isn’t special
  5. Scott, I am trying to think how to say this without setting you off. Slow down and read what I said. I am a HUGE IU fan and trying to defend our program and staff against the outcry of why Woodson “can’t close” “another recruit lost to Tenn. what the heck, how” there is a reason and people need to slow down and realize it. I even gave examples on what it would take to overcome it etc. you know what doesn’t help the program? Fans putting their heads in the sand and acting like we are the .. stuff. me attacking the program? Because I argued how important social media was? Huh? I haven’t attacked the program one time. Especially with what I see here daily. If we start a new thread I will be happy to discuss. I thought it was relevant as this is a big part of losing transfers. Please let me know if we do as I don’t check other threads often right now and just come back here.
  6. One more reply, read all my other replies on this topic in last 30 min and I will answer anything but people are rapid firing and some already addressed I promise you, this is an issue wether you want to accept it or not.
  7. You know how that list is BS? Michigan State doesn’t hold a candle to the top 25 even
  8. See my other reply and I addressed question on top 10% too. I don’t want to keep clogging this thread up with one off responses
  9. Scott that is not even close to accurate. That guys just makes list on Twitter to piss people off and drive engagement. I thought you didn’t do Twitter or social media?
  10. Not arenas Scott and that is fan based perspective
  11. It is still less and even if I give you top 10% which is not accurate, that still means 35/40 schools better. People question why we can’t beat out these “back hills, SEC, football schools with no history. We are IU, best college town in the world” well, those are your top 35/40. They are on the better, right now, on the court too. fans have to realize this is not easy on the staff is my point. They have won some good battles but people like Ledlum and Knecht… yeah, they were sold and not hard to blame them or blame the staff for not convincing them. I know it can be turned around. Woody brings something missing with Archie, players love him. He has that NBA thing as well. If they can win consistently, you can start to overcome this. I wish more understood it is not easy and give him some more time is all. Trying to educate our fanbase on this perspective
  12. that was 100% my bad. It had rapid fire coming from it and already fended this off earlier. Sorry to take it that way. no, questions are very valid. look at this article I posted to Scott. It gives you an idea. Yes, this is a football article but that leads the charge and affects all the facilities, food, rec areas, living etc, etc. Did they do half ass job, not that as much as they have a very long way to go. https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/College-footballs-25-best-facilities-in-2022-ranked-182436036/#182436036_19
  13. Man, again, this is a no win with the faithful. They are not even that close. I have been on plenty. also, best college town is not best in athlete eyes. Very different. This article details the top facilities. IU not even top 25. Yes, this article is about football but that is what drives better facilities and they all reap the rewards. You know what the IU pitch is to recruits. “Here at IU we all share the facilities across sports. Our leadership is big on that” Meanwhile these school build whole cities for each sport. Here at Clemson we have these 20 buildings for just you and the team. Is that overkill, yeah but it makes impacts on recruits. When you can’t beat them on the court, conference is worse style, etc. it adds up. but… we have history 🤷‍♂️ https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/College-footballs-25-best-facilities-in-2022-ranked-182436036/#182436036_19
  14. It is not about those who live in Bloomington or around the program. It looks great until you go to these other places. The other thing you are missing is campus life. I know again, people are bias and that is the issue with accepting this. Winning football team and all that comes with it matters. This current group is playing catch-up when all that big ten money was spent on other things.
  15. Ok, you can all believe what you want. That renovation was to get them to where schools were years ago. Go on a tour of the IU facilities (like a recruit would) and all the athlete areas and then go to a SEC school like Tenn or Alabama. It is pointless it try and go through it because it is clear everyone here knows our facilities are elite.
  16. I’m going to bring this back to the front of the this thread. Something things still really point to him being out out and IU being in. Not sure how long it takes to play out but you don’t do the stuff he has done unless you are trolling IU hard. Don’t imagine Painter would be ok with that either.
  17. My issue is I think fans are quick to give up. There are better options and we will land them
  18. Yeah, no. I am far from sky is falling but reality is tough for many. IU needs time to build back to compete head to head and needs the Big Ten to get it together with play style, we need better facilities, etc. right now, schools like Tenn and Ark have more to offer. Tough pill to swallow for some.
  19. Hey, meant to comment on this earlier. Deloach is long gone in my opinion. 99% sure anyway. He is Georgia bound so you can check him off that potential list.
  20. He is just saying from a who do you guard (Knecht is not quick) and that they are different enough to play same time.
  21. And there are hundreds of guys to fill that role in the portal. There will still be hundreds without a home in late May/June. You can get shooters pretty easy. Seems very clear to me the staff is only going after what they feel are the best guys. They are not willing to just take a guy and they know they can get guys like that down the road if they truly strike out. This is what many wanted for years. Up the talent level to compete outside Big. Woody said we had to “clearly get better personnel”In order to do that, you have to be willing to miss on a lot of them. We are not a top destination anymore. They are starting to come slowly with Woody. Hopefully more fans will see this and calm it a little. Heck, seeing people here and Twitter say “go after C.J.” …. Really? Leal can shoot and move better than that guy. The staff won’t even play him. They want tall, quick, athletes who can shoot and defend. They are there but take time. I also think they are talking a lot of back channels and trying to get other guys into portal. Really believe that. It is also why less names are coming up. Can’t talk about those.
  22. They don’t technically. This is going to happen to more than a few programs. Arkansas being a big one. No room for guys to come back to if they do.
