BINGO! IU runs that weave at the top but we don't have the guys that are both threats to drive and shoot the 3 like UConn.

PU came out to keeping UConn from taking the 3 and dropping Edey to protect the paint. UConn burned them from the elbow (much like JHS did) and that opened up the paint and the 3-point line. NCState did similar but just didn't have enough guys that could make shots

You have to run the weave with a purpose and players who can take advantage when the time comes.  We run the weave just to move the ball around with no actual purpose to do anything with it.  When you watch UConn or any other talented team run that, they have have guards who are looking for a reason to drive and dish or taken an open 3.  We just run through the motion with no real purpose of why we're doing it.

Doubt it will happen. Purdue is penciled in to win it all. Reminds me of the Virgina championship a few years back, where they lost in the 1st round the previous year as a 1 seed. Let's not forget their last 3 games where they had multiple shots at 3's in the last few seconds to win each game. Of course, it was all rigged.

Why would it be rigged for Purdue though?  What do they bring to the table that Duke, UNC, Huston or anyone else doesn't? Not saying sports aren't rigged, but why Purdue, what do they bring to the table that the other don't?

Im just wondering what is going on...why are guys canceling all of a sudden.

Could be a myriad of reasons.  From they did more research and didn't like playing style, uncertainty around the coach, who we already have on the roster and incoming signed already,  to family pressure, playing time, NIL money, or the wind was from the NE on a Tuesday.

If the trend continues or we continue to not sign anyone, I would say its something about the program then.  Play style, coach, program, fans, etc..

My first love growing up was baseball, where every stadium has its own dimensions and quirks. When it comes to weird court designs, I say let a thousand flowers bloom.

You have your opinion, i have mine.  I just don't like it.  same if in a baseball field, they had weird colored infields or outfields with designs that made it hard to see the ball, i probably wouldn't like that either.

But its only my opinion.  I respect yours.  Enjoy.  I am done with this conversation.

But who gets to define busy?

I've seen the classic MECCA floor called "busy", and that's from the 1970s.

And even then, there's never been a consistent defined pattern for courts.  Do you leave the lane open and just defined or paint it in? I've seen "traditional" courts use both.  Same for the free throw circle.  Same color as the lane? Split in half at the free throw line? Complete contrasting circle?

I'm sure I'll have voodoo dolls made in my likeness with pins in them over saying this, but I've never really liked IU's court design.  It's the "white toast, no butter" of courts.  Would anyone get their knickers in a knot if the paint were...oh...I don't know....maybe painted? Just a little bit of red to break it up.

Or if that's just too wild and out there, do either the lane or the area inside the three point line except the lane in a slightly contrasting wood stain.

I'm not saying we need to go full Oregon and do the outline of a Sarlacc on the court, but just something a little different but still in a "traditional" design.

This is way more involved than i want to dive into. Lane color is fine.  Mid-court logo is fine.  The rest of the floor should be wood colored with only the lines needed for a basketball game.  Any color outside of the main court is fine.  Where i have an issue is like Oregon's court which is really distracting.  Or courts that have 400 extra lines for volleyball or floor hockey or whatever.

Some of these are ok, some of these are just to much and distracting.

Next thing you know you’ll demand 3 point lines are uniform in Women’s NCAA 😬

    Candy Stripe end zone 🔥

    Tennessee Checkered end zone 🔥🔥

Oregon & TCU floors are hard to watch

Trying to remember how many teams had volleyball lines on the court in Big Ten back in the day 🤔

I don't mind the end zone being painted, but i think the main playing surface should be the same across all schools.  I personally don't like basketball courts being super busy and distracting.  But that's just me.

For all the “sky is falling” crowd, MgBako is back. Now, if we don’t go out and lock up a couple of elite shooters to go along with MM, MR and BT, then I’ll be the first to say CMW needs to go.

My fear with all these portal guys is that it's going to take to long for the team to gel and find their feet and we're going to be very inconstant all year similar to this year.

We're always the most confident in the off season. We're world beaters. We have the making of a final 4 team, going to be top 25 and no one in the b1g is as talented at any position as IU. No reason we can't be top 3. The talking heads will pick us 10th and we'll bitch about it all off season. Only to prove they know a little about basketball.

I am happy we have players coming back. I am happy we have a '24 recruit finally. I will be happy to get some actual shooters hopefully.  But I am not getting my hopes up. No more. Prove it over the first half of the season. Dominate the bad team and compete with the good ones.

Not a freak athlete but really skilled

Looks better all around than Liam imho

Poor man’s Evan Turner or bigger JHS ?

Put on 20 pounds and he could be a tough matchup for small wings

Jumper is a little funky but it’s smooth and goes in….turnaround is advanced for a 17 year old

A lot too like & work with

From the videos i have seen, he doesn't look better than liam.  But that is just me.  I am going to agree with btown in that he doesn't look like a starter, but more of a 15-20min guy off the bench.  Liam was a day 1 starter level talent though.  I honestly don't think this kid is a 5* level talent from the little i have seen.  But i know nothing about anything so take for what its worth.

  9. Does anyone have a breakdown of his stats over the last 2 years?  I couldn't find anything other than some USA stats.  What is his shooting percentage?  Free throws?  3pts?  Just like to see what he did recently.

Great pick up.  He plays the 3, Mbako goes to the 4 and MR to the 5.  Pick up a CG, 2x SG and a PG and we're good

I went to Mt. Vernon, graduated in mid-80's, high school had about 750 students.  At that time, HSE had about 500 students total.  The area has certainly grown!!

I went to Boonville.  If you went to the same Mt. Vernon that was in our conference, we're not far apart
