They are both extremely important to their teams. Which of these 2 then separates themselves from the competition based on stats and strength of schedule at some point. Gonzaga playing in a weak conference year after year with power6 level talent isn't as impressive to me. Would they be undefeated playing in the ACC or B1G for 20 games. Very unlikely. Would they be good. Probably but not as dominant and would just be another good Power6 team. Would Chet be the dominate figure he is playing in a big conference seeing the level a talent day after day? Maybe, maybe not

I appreciate that you are a regular member of the board and are always civil even when some aren't toward you. But coming to an IU forum, and arguing for Purdue in any capacity and then asking the "enemy" fan board to provide reason why they don't think their rival is a national contender is kind of like banging your head against the wall and then asking the wall to prove it didn't give you the headache. Or some other analogy that makes more sense. Same with the Illinoise fan who wants to argue with IUFLA and then wonder why it gets testy. You're both the odd men out in the room regardless of of where you live or how you feel about IU or basketball in general. You're teams are not really well like or loved by IU fans. I could care less myself, but i remember being much more passionate about it when i was younger

That's a hard question. Obviously they need to be stat leaders. Impact the game and their team in a meaningful way. Must have been tested against elite competition on multiple occasions (doesn't have to be a full season worth, but can't be a mid major who never played any p6 schools). Should be respected/feared by opposing coaches/staff. Just some of my thoughts. And there is always the gut feel that comes to mind.

And to tell you the truth, the last 2 should have been from iowa. He should have won it both years.

To be honest, the Syracuse Zone has taken down more talented programs than IU over the last 30 years. To say any high school coach should be able to beat it just to take a dig at Coach Crean is a bit much. Yeah, we should have won that game and possible been in the final that year, but Syracuse has always been tough to beat, for everyone.

Did he need to dunk that then, no. Did I enjoy it, yes
