    What a nice surprise!

This game is a perfect example how this team would need to play moving forward.

    • Play tough defense every posession because our offense sucks
    • TJD has to bring it offensively every night
    • Keep the opponent under 60 points/game; otherwise, we pretty much lose

And the coaching staff needs to continue to groom X Johnson.

They are not going to be able to keep every BIG team under 60, that's just not going to happen. Meaning if they have to do that every game, they aren't going to win many more games.

Absolutely loved the pass Trey made at the end for the dunk by Trayce...

Not sure how that wasn't a foul, the guy bulldozed him off the court. I get it's the end of the game, but that was pretty wild.

I heard he might be visiting sometime this week and then Weaver just said he'd heard the same. If he visits we'll see what happens.

I read he's supposed to visit Auburn this weekend. Gentleman's wager says we'll have an addition to the QB room by Sunday evening.

Those are all great options. Zach Calzada would be a huge upgrade, simply because he has experience going up against and beating the best in the country and you can’t put a price on that. Cam Ward while a bit of a wildcard is getting a lot of Lamar Jackson comparisons and there’s little that’s more exciting than that. Here’s to hoping Coach Allen can land one or the other

Of these guys, Bazelak is probably the most likely.

Watching the UI and Minnesota game and Cockburn twisted his ankle.  It makes me wonder why did basketball players where low top now instead of high tops.  Toe high tops helps you if you twist or sprain your ankle

There’s really no science behind that. Most guys tape their ankles too.

Would be a huge disappointment because we easily have a top 3 roster IMO.

I’d be pretty bummed if we don’t make an Elite 8 tbh.

I agree with both these statements. I am not trying to bash PU or kick them when they're down. They have a good, possibly great team. But Painter has to pull the right strings. Anything outside of a top three Big Ten finish (I would argue top two), and like you said, anything less than the Elite 8, would be a disappointment IMO. And this has nothing to do with "I wish IU had these problems" etc. Of course I wish that. But look at the disdain toward Crean because of the Syracuse loss. Painter's a better coach, but at some point your best teams have to do something special, not close to something special. When you have the horses, you've got to produce results. It's great to win the BIG or do ok in the tourney, but when the time comes, you've got to breakthrough. Kinda of similar to Keady and G-Rob. Have to seize the moment. Not saying that was Keady's best team or that this is for Painter, but you really never know when the chance will come again. If nothing else, IU fans should be able to relate to that.

As much as I hate to admit it, and I really hate to admit it, Purdue still looks like the class of the conference from a talent standpoint. Painter is too good of a coach to not figure it out.

70th ranked defense is not going to cut it. And Painter is a good coach, but he's not thaaaat good. And he's definitely never been in this position before, where PU is the hunted.

I'm not comparing them to IU. I'd saying losing their first road game to Rutgers after being number one for like two days is not a great start to the BIG. They are very good. But that was a bad loss and they should have lost to NC State too. They also just gave up 90 points (54 in the second half) to Nichols. So anyone thinking they're going to roll through the BIG ten is mistaken. Don't get me wrong they are good and the favorites, but it'll be interesting to see what their record is when it's all said and done.

Maybe they dont like each other. My brother and I have spoken twice in 10 years.

He visited pretty soon after his brother signed up, so I don't think that's the issue. But  please call your brother and tell him you love him :)

Bama has really had complete control of this game just as you stated in your earlier post.  UC has been pretty inept offensively and Bama just wore down their defense.  You had it right and I was just hoping.   😊

I just think it’s weird why these teams just don’t run the plays that will win them the game (easily). Instead it’s like the coaches are bored and want to use their whole playbook.

Probably not much...but still only down 7 with the ball...4+ minutes left first half.

Most good teams are over coached. They have the better talent. If they just used their speed via running and underneath routes, they’d be up by 30. Instead they’re trying to throw it too much allowing UC to stick around. OSU vs. IU, OSU does the same thing even though they’ll avg like 8 yards a carry.

Tennessee is dicking around and letting Purdue stay in the game.

It's amazing how many teams do this. Instead of just doing what's working (can't be stopped) they have to run the coach's  "offense" or what biases have been introduced to the game over the years. A good example of this, if I was playing IU and had the ball on the other side of my 40 and 4th and less than 5 yards to go, I would go for it every time (or at least most of the time).  Seems like no one has the guts to change situational football anymore. I especially think in college outside the box thinking would work.

Great idea but the NCAA is as inept as the Federal Government.

And the people who "hire them" or vote them in. You can blame systems all you want, but it's up to the "people" to improve them, not just complain about them. Schools can hold the NCAA accountable, just like the voters can hold the government accountable. Lot of complaining, finger pointing and infighting, not much action, collaboration, or problem solving. For both, it's time to put ideologies aside and work together to solve issues, not continue to draw lines in the sand and complain about differences.

Don't care whether he lines up in the backfield or the slot,  that kind of speed and quickness is lethal.  He seems thicker and more powerful than I thought too. He's gonna be fun to watch.

IU really lacked playmakers after DJ went down. I am glad they are focusing on these types of guys, they are fun to watch and hard to scheme against.

He looks super quick and fast. Off topic a bit, but I'll never understand why both FB and BB drills don't include another person guarding them? Like who gives a crap if you can make 100 baskets in a row if you can't make two in a row with someone guarding you. Not so sure how helpful any drills are if they don't mimic game play on a certain level. And with football, why don't they ever wear their equipment when working out? Does any football player wear their gear when doing one on one or one on none drills? And why does every basketball team's pre-game warm up consist of shooting around lazily by themselves? I get you want to "warm up" to start, but seems you'd want to ratchet up the intensity a bit before the game starts. Seems like common sense to me.  But what do I know.
