  1. The fact Allen and Bell were on him immediately and now he's doing an official visit...seems very promising.
  2. I like our chances if it's IU versus Marshall and UConn.
  3. Yeah, Woody needs to change that tendency sooner than later.

  6. I am amazed at the number of people who were mad about how long it took to make the "official" announcement. People sure enjoy being angry.
  7. Lander needs to play, Bates needs to play more. Woody stuck with guys too long.
  8. Spot on. I will add, it's time to start Bates and give Lander more run.
  9. We should all have elevated expectations, but to expect us to win 8-10 games every year is a stretch. Let's look at IU historically, regardless of the coach(es). IU is a hard place to win at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I_FBS_football_win-loss_records 121 out of 130. The fact that CTA has done what he has, you have to give him props and some leeway when it comes to who he is "choosing" as coaches. I'm still waiting to hear who he thinks we turned down in favor of Bell?
  10. Who was talking about basketball? But while you're at it, let's now compare Rick Pitino and John Calipari's advance stats in college and how they translated to the NBA. Or how about Fred Hoiberg's at Nebraska? Either way, you're arguing apples and oranges.
  11. So Saban’s “coaching” is the reason why Alabama is good every year? Coaching is important but getting the talent is way more important, hence why when a team like IU loses guys to injuries they’re dead in the water.
  12. What’s the hourglass emoji mean normally when he tweets it?
  13. I would say a couple of boards have been extremely negative towards this hire.
  14. They're basically replying back to me because myself and others have called out the negativity a little bit on BTB. I post there like once a year, so I guess this is payback. My post over there was pretty much the same, why not give the guy a shot? Nothing more, nothing less.
  15. I see and know the numbers, but I am taking a wait and see approach because I have no other choice. I hope it works out. It cannot and will not be worse than this year. Also, do you know of any other candidates who wanted the job and were turned down? Putting together a wish list is just that. You can name OC after OC but we really don't know who's a legitimate candidate and who was offered.
  16. Much like a lot of things these days, the vocal minority aka loud mouths, are the experts on all things. They could be right, could be a bad hire, but they don't really know any more than you or I. Besides about 3 people, every hire would be bad in their minds. The guy is 37 years old for christ's sake, like let's see what he's got.
  17. Most on the The Hoosier and BTB love to hate on all things. Was this the most exciting hire, not at all. But to say it was a bad hire is just being negative. Nothing more, nothing less. We have zero real inside information as to why he was hired and who turned us down. I assume they had a list of people who were interested in the job and went from there. I would love to have the greatest OC out there, that doesn't mean he/she would love to come here. I would love to have another DeBoer, but that's pretty rare. Now let's go get some talent.
  18. He is really, really good. I just don't see what he has to gain by coming back.
  19. It would also be very surprising, at least McFadden would be.
  20. I look at a couple of other boards during coaching hires and transfers (sniffing out rumors), they are not very nice right now. It's actually kinda weird. The problem with these OC/coaching lists that people put out, there's probably only 3-4 realistic options, not 15-20. Coaching is as "ole boys club" as you're going to get and so you kinda need to analyze the candidates within that scope. The hottest of the hot candidates are going to hold out for a blue blood, big time money, or HC offers. Everyone else is going to go where they know someone/have a connection (to a certain extent). But IU isn't getting the pick of the litter. And this guy was on people's list, he just wasn't the hottest/sexy pick. Personally I think scheme is the biggest need, not some guy who puts up the most yards and points. Will the scheme work for the types of players IU normally gets, and can it succeed against teams with more talent?
