  1. Wasn’t sure whether to include UCLA or not. They haven’t played anybody and almost lost to South Alabama. ESPN has UW at a 55% 3 pt favorite which isn’t exactly “heavily” favored especially on the road.
  2. Not at all and that’s partly the point I was trying to make. Only IU football would have their problem imploded due to a completely inept OL coach CTA refuses to fire. If Penix stayed it wouldn’t have been if he gets hurt but when and how severe. He, like others, left sinking ship. It’s just jarring to see just how much success a former leader of our team can have once he leaves CTA and his broken system.
  3. They’ve got Oregon and Washington St on the road, otherwise they’ll be heavily favored the rest of the way. It’s absolutely possible. Nothing would be more IU football then letting Penix leave the year before a Heisman AND National Championship run.
  4. As well as… Tuttle played hurt. He didn’t get QB1 snaps all off season, OL was still garbage/hurt, etc, etc. MSU had an NFL running back. We didn’t get blown out in that game. We had walk ons for a RB room. Btown is a blowhard who can’t admit when he’s wrong. Best to just move on and let his bad takes play out on their own. CTA’s blind and deaf loyalty to Hiller is and will be his downfall. It’s sad because there’s no reason to stick your neck out for a crap OL coach just because he’s your friend. We had an amazing thing going and CTA let it implode. He’s simply not a head coach at this level. Not everyone is meant to be CEO.
  5. You honestly think Tuttle is that much worse than him? Bazelak is inconsistent and his overthrows lead to INTs. Is it his fault? Maybe not. There are high school teams with better OLs than us. If we’re going to play like this with Bazelak, then go with Tuttle. I think benching him is as much to do with his play and the fact that Tuttle has the locker room. He’s paid his dues and is arguably just as good according to the coaching staff who needed 100% of the off season to make a decision. Maybe better? Lets find out. He’s a team captain and earned the shot.
  6. Ask Purdue fans what happens when you hire a MAC coach with a couple good seasons…a decade later they’re still whining about the carnage. I’d be surprised if they couldn’t get Bill O’Brien if he wants to stay in the college ranks. I can’t imagine a guy like him enjoys taking orders from Saban. He also brings enough experience and clout for Nebraska to offer him full control of the program. Matt Campbell is a name that keeps popping up. Any coach in the Big12 not named Venables or Sarkisian should be up for grabs for any BigTen or SEC school. If Zac Taylor’s seat in Cincinatti gets hot as the season plays out, he may want to come home. His resume is void of any relevant college coaching experience so Nebraska would have to give him some rope to acclimate to the college game as well as a hefty budget to hire proven recruiters for his staff. I have to imagine this is Nebraska’s last chance (if it even exists) to turn this program around so they’ll be going “all in” on this hire. Their saving grace may be the fact that it’s soon to be SEC, BigTen, ACC or bust for some of these top tier coaches that stand to find themselves on the outside looking in.
  7. He took over a D3 program that had been to the national championship game the previous two seasons…not exactly a proven program builder, despite his success there. I’m sure there’s some Pop Warner coaches out there with +.950 records, lets see what they can do. How’s that for outside the box? Nebraska already took a flier hiring Frost after his “flash in the pan” success in a recruiting mecca like Florida. Leipold may turn out to be the next great FBS coach but the Bo Ryan comparison is irrelevant as is his D3 coaching record. Nebraska has the funds to hire an established guy and the program is on the brink of becoming the likes Kansas football. Hiring on perceived potential could be a death sentence.
  8. He’s won 5 games at Kansas. If he somehow takes this team to a winning season, maybe but I’d want more success than one year. They can end up 3-9 just as easily as they found themselves 3-0
  9. Hiring Leipold would be absolutely reckless, regardless of his past ties to the school and state. That said, I couldn’t care less about what they do. They can’t recruit Texas/Oklahoma anymore. The program is becoming a fossil.
  10. “Cradle of quarterbacks; Hazell was a fluke therefore those losses don’t count; Hazell’s negligence is the only reason IU’s program isn’t still in the dumpster; Brohm is god and Allen is a HS coach; IU Sucks chants; Covid is the only reason IU had a winning season; Purdue to win the B1G West every preseason; Injuries are the only reason we didn’t win the West every post season; IU only schedules cupcakes to buy wins; etc, etc, etc, etc… This has been and likely always will be the constant rhetoric on GNB & H&R, along with all my friends/family that went to Purdue. Your fan base, as a whole, is a delusional cesspool of over promotion/self worth. If you did a fanbase poll asking “Is Purdue a prestigious, nationally relevant football program?” +90% would say yes. IU fans will always strive for better and want our athletic programs to be successful. However we, by in large, hang our hats on actual successes and national relevance that was earned by winning championships, not artificially created through self proclaimed titles like Cradle of QBs, Defense Lives Here, Big Man U. Damnit, now the ice in my cocktail is melting…good day, sir
  11. I think you could make a drinking game out of our OL performances. Take a drink every time an IU lineman ends up on his ass behind the line of scrimmage and you’ll be proper drunk by halftime. Material improvements are going to have to happen if we’re going to compete against Cincinnati and the rest of the BigTen. I’ve never felt less optimistic about a 3-0 start in my life.
  12. Purdue has one more Rose Bowl appearance than IU and your fan base acts like it’s an elite CFB program. It’s incredibly weird but I guess ya gotta dance with the girl you brought to the dance, no matter how ugly she is.
  13. I agree. CTA was never going to get fired or demoted to keep DeBoer. If anything, he got credit for hiring him in the first place. I just like the way DeBoer carries himself and his offensive mindset. I find Allen’s personality incredibly annoying and it’s only exacerbated by his complete ineptitude regarding that side of the ball, clock management and staff management. He’s a very good DC and should have stayed a DC. Not everyone is cut out to be CEO. I hope I’m wrong and CTA can grow into his role but he has a long way to go.
  14. Hearing “former Indiana Hoosier” after the highlight is such a gut punch. I’d trade any two guys and the entire coaching staff to get him and DeBoer back
  15. The coaching staff needs to take a long look in the mirror this week. Horrible schemes on both sides of the ball all game. Tevis should be starting. He’s the only DL we have who makes plays. The OL is going to be a travesty all season, set game plans accordingly. Overall, lucky to have a win and proud of the kids for never wavering. They came through despite CTA and staff
  16. So many mental errors in every aspect of this game. We’re incredibly lucky to still have a shot but I’m really tired of being out coached every week
  17. Lol, well when I was in school, literally anywhere other than Memorial Stadium would have been an massive upgrade. IU football was utterly unwatchable post the Randle El era. We’re coming off a 2 win season. Fan loyalty is earned, not entitled. Edit: Unless you’re Purdue, those fans show up regardless because it’s either that or go to a frat party featuring a 10-1 guy girl ratio or choking down sh*tty free hotdogs at Jakes…worst campus party/bar scene in America
  18. I didn’t go to the game and thus I didn’t leave early. I agree and don’t like to leave games early but I understand why people would leave that particular game at midnight. If I wasn’t three time zones away, I might have turned it off myself. It was painful to watch until finally it wasn’t
  19. This team will deserve better when they win games and in return they’ll get better. It’s pretty simple. Also, you’re going to have this no matter what when you agree to a 8pm kickoff and games take 4+ hours.
  20. In defense, eeeking out a win against Illinois at home isn’t the start anyone hoped for
  21. Incredible calls by the new OC. Shows just how bad Illinois is. We can’t run the ball and they get pressure rushing 3 and we’re still in it
  22. When they can drop 8 on every play and still get to the QB, how does this work?
  23. Allen made his bed with choosing Hiller over everyone else. They’ll have a nice cush gig at Ben Davis next year. This has been an absolutely pathetic display of football. If not for Illinois’ unforced errors we’d be down 14
  24. Clifford is pedestrian at best. My only hope is that PSU doesn’t hand it over to that freshman by the time we play them. Kid can really sling it. In other news, Reece Taylor was absolute hot garbage tonight…is this some deep state/double agent sabotagery???
  25. I imagine kids who have NFL aspirations care…a lot. QB recruits aren’t going to flock to Brohm and his “system” for the free hotdogs at Jakes and all that local West Lafayette, Indiana clout. Make the guy have just one success story before you anoint him “QB God”
