Not sure what it is...but the past couple months I’ve not missed the NBA or MLB at all...not sure I’ll ever go back to watching it. I’m feeling really similar about the NFL too this coming year. Just can’t really work up a give a damn. College sports on the other hand really missing. Not sure what it is about the amateurism but these professionals and the owners etc just have all turned me off of wanting anything to do with any of them.

I will watch the Pacers game tonight but haven't watch  more than 5 minutes of any of the other NBA games so far.

So frustrating watching this Celtics-Bucks game. In the last three minutes Giannis had an absolute clear goaltend where he took a Hayward layup right off the rim that the refs didn’t call, then he fouled out twice and both times the refs reversed the call.

The NBA has always been like that because the stars always has gotten the calls.  As a Pacers fan I have witness it to many time over the years when playing against teams like Celtics, Bulls or Knicks over the years.

Nothing against his game just not who I want taking the game winner.  Not sure why people take that as a slam. Great player and very few are stone cold killers

I lost any respect for PG when the team asked him t play the 4 and he refused to do it.  To me that is sign of selfishness and the me first attitude that many players have today.

I think the NFL may be able to survive if they take notice and notes from the MLB restart and take extra precautions.  I still think a bubble is the best way to be successful like the NBA and NHL are doing

It would be hard to do football in a bubble because it would be hard to have enough fields in one area.  Also it would be hard to have more than maybe 2 or 3 games on a field in a day where the NBA can have probably 4 or 5 games on each court in a day.

I’m intrigued by all the PG offers for this class. IF we have a season (successful) I wonder if anyone would pop early? Like this school year.

PS I’m all in on Leland Walker and Braden Smith. Just a personal opinion.

I like to see Thornton and Smith

Dang Scott, I knew you were still feeling some effects and was actually thinking about you when I posted this.

We are really seeing people struggling with regaining normal function, especially previously healthy people. This is and will be a significant stressor on our health care system moving forward and I think it's lost in many discussions of the impact of COVID.

Today was my last unemployment check with the $600 so it will start to get more difficult.  Hopefully they will get some kind of unemployment benefit for us.  I know some say get out and find a job but it is not as easy as that sounds.  I have applied for numerous jobs but have not got any call backs.

I think your last sentence is important and largely being ignored. Some previously healthy people are sick for a long time with this; lots of health issues afterwards that aren't really being talked about that much. Yes, the cases and deaths are bad, but just b/c people survived does not mean they have really recovered.

I still don't feel 100% and have had so many test on my heart and my lungs.  I have no idea if this came from having the virus or just a coincidence.

He was a sophomore last season.  I don't worry too much about stats at that age.  I don't know, but I bet Vic didn't average any more than 6.6 as a sophomore in high school.

He was supposed to be in the 2021 class but reclassified last year.

Scott, everyone is aware of where you stand on players staying in college and your opinion on it doesn't change. What also doesn't change is that it makes more sense financially for first round draft picks to get to the pros as early as possible. The window for being paid to play isn't large and even playing overseas they will earn much more than the cost of a degree.

I just see a lot of former IU players who has great careers in things other than sports who probably were helped out because they played at IU.

Toughest part about the leadership part of pro sports. Fans will say give it your best blah blah,etc.....but if I'm Pritchard you have to be macro and I'd be looking at December right now. Not July/August in Orlando.

I know it was financially based but this is why I thought it would just be for the best if they just cancelled this season.  I think with them playing this year and going so late it will interfere with two seasons instead of one.  They should just have planned for next season to start its normal time in late October.  I think playing this year you will see more injuries where players were not physically ready to play and it will hurt the teams for next year as well.

If basketball doesn't work out for Leaf (and he probably will be able to carve out a career overseas, spending his 20s living in some beautiful place make high 6 or low 7 figures) an athlete like him would have no problem transitioning to a 6 figure sales role, coaching, or many other high paying jobs with or without a degree. The kid will be fine financially, because he went pro.

If he stays 4 years and doesn't amount to anything in sports, then he is in the same boat as others graduating college..... He came out way ahead.

You don't think if he played 4 years at UCLA and had a very good college career and lead UCLA to great seasons he would not have the same possibilities.  I would think there would be more job opportunities for him if he stayed at UCLA with all of their alumni.

Sounds like Sabonis has more than a flare up. Leaving Orlando for foot specialist. If this is the case and if Vic has the slightest trepidation....I say come back healthy in December.

Not looking real positive for the Pacers.  Yesterday none of their top 3 big men played.  I don't know what was wrong with Goga or Turner and Sabonis was at the game yesterday.

There is no guarantee the opportunity would still he there. If your goal is to be a D1 player then I might see your point of view, but if your goal is the NBA no way do I agree with you.

I just looked at TJ Leaf's contract and it was only for a guaranteed 7.4 million so I don't know where you got the 20 mil from.  Also you should watch Jalen Roses podcast talking about what every young athlete should know before turning pro.  He talked about how you think you are getting all of this money but after taxes and all of you other expenses it is not as much as you think.  He said you have to pay your agent, then you have a business manager and a lawyer plus others like trainers and nutritionist  He then went into all of your old friends who you will feel like you have to take care of since they were there for you before you were rich..

Why not do both. Collect 20 million go back get your degree and then work the rest of your life if you want. I would trade my college experience my degree and I would do the laundry clean the floor and carry everyone's luggage to be the last guy on an NBA team playing the game I love.

Not me, rather get my college basketball experience then move on to the pro but that is just me.

10 more years of college basketball and he still would not be able to compete.

More reason to stay and play college basketball and get your degree.  You can always go over seas and play pro ball there but you only have a short period to play college basketball.

Uh no....he would never have gotten drafted....or at least not in the first rd. At least he got paid. He has had summer league, g league stints, limited game time the kid is just over matched out there. He made the most of his one shot. Likely spend the rest of his career overseas still making good money but at least he got that guaranteed money. Just my accessment of him.

I guess we will just disagree on this topic because everyone already knows my viewpoint on this topic.  It is about what you want is it just getting paid or is it waiting until you can compete.

I think we tried to trade him for a club sandwich but nobody would bite! Honestly I read some write ups but his salary makes him basically untradable.

To me he is a poster child for staying in school and not jump right into the NBA.  if he would have stayed a few more years and got better physically and mentally he would have came in with more confidence in himself.

We do have good depth. This team isn’t offensively anemic like the last Pacer teams that fought Lebron in the ECF...but we also need star power from Vic if we want to be a contender.

Pacers won by 3 but the last 5 minutes we pretty much had the very end of the bench in.  We had Bowen, Johnson, Long, Sumner and Leaf and Sumner is the only one would see any serious playing time.  To me it is time to pull the plug on Leaf because he could not do anything against the Trailblazers subs.

Talk of complete shutdown is just sensationalism and baseless fear. No state let alone country us shutting down — and PLEASE don’t spur on the moronic toilet paper hoarders back into action!

Might not be feasible but it would be the best solution to stop the virus.

    How does Vic look?

He looked pretty good on his second stint.  It seems like McMillian is playing two separate units so the starters played most of the first quarter and the other unit played the second.  Our bench in the first played a lot better than  the starters but in the 3rd the starters looked good.  Late in the 3rd we brought in the bench and the Trailblazers kept their starters in and the second un it held their own.
