  1. Trying to watch the scrimmage game between the Pacers and Trailblazers but it is hard getting into this game.  I knew Sabonis is injured but I have not seen Turner in the game so I was wondering why he is not playing.  I saw a picture of Turner put fishing the other day so I figured he was good to go.  Pacers started Johnson and Sampson up front to go with VO, Brogdon and Warren.  Right now the Pacers are not looking to good being down 9 at the end of the first.

Scott, just curious why you chose to call this "bad"?  Do you mean bad for the game?  The fans?  The starting pitcher?  How is it bad?  Just trying to understand why you chose that word to describe your thoughts.  Warren Spahn started 665 games in his career and had 382 complete games.  So, I understand your point, I guess.  But why is the change bad?   Hope things are going better for you after your battle with covid.

To me it is bad for the game that I grew up watching and loved that style of baseball.  I just don't enjoy the style of game today than I did in the past.  I don't like how much analytics are used in the game today.  I enjoyed a good pitching duel between two great starters who were allowed to go deep into games.  I think all the pitching changes hurt the flow of the game and just slows the pace to much.

As for me and the battle with the virus it seems to be getting better and all of my test had come back well.

    All about the money...

I think the thing that concerns me the most is the size of pitching staffs compared to 20 years ago. 10 pitchers was the standard for years. Lately it's been 12 and sometimes 13. Of course, leaves less bench players, and is probably a boost to those favor the DH which I despise.

Baseball use to be a great game of strategy...now, fill out the lineup card, and the manager is done...

Remember a time when you had a guy on your roster which was mainly a pinch hitter and nothing else.  Also had a guy who pretty much was just a late inning guy who came in to pinch run.

Yes, Scott, and the vast majority of Americans didn't have electricity and used horses for transportation...

    Progress...

I know and not saying it should be that way now.  Just think it is bad that a starter can't go past 6 innings in todays game.  Back in the 70's and 80's you saw most starters go into the 7th and 8th inning regularly and it did not seem to effect their careers like babying pitchers today.

One of the things that have me skeptical about effectiveness is how vaccines are designed to work.  They trick the immune system into producing antibodies specific to the virus.  As of now, I thought the current knowledge is antibodies for covid lose their effectiveness rather quickly.  I can't seeing a vaccine being much more effective than the seasonal flu shot.  It will take a multi faceted approach which why studying these existing medications is so important.

Well I tested positive for the virus yet tested negative for antibodies.

Never had a flu shot either. And don't get the flu. Mrs. mile gets a flu shot every year.  And it has not always prevented her from getting the flu.

Never got a flu shot until this year because my son and his girlfriend told me I had to so I could be around my new granddaughter.

Ok...here's my thing. I don't think I'm unique but maybe I am. I've never had a flu shot. I've been sick twice in 25+ years. Am I just lucky or ?

Regarding vaccine. I probably would land on the side of caution and do it but am I strange to compare the two? Or if it's a reaching example let me know that too.

To me it would be like any other vaccines that kids get when they are young.  I know when my aunt was young in the 40's she got polio and then they got a vaccine for that disease.

The losing in Cleveland emanates from the owner on down.  They have a losing culture.  That’s the type of thing you can’t overcome.  People underestimate the role of an owner.  Bad owners have a knack for not ever winning,.  A few years ago, the Browns has a ridiculous number of high picks and look where they are.

The Browns are the perfect example of organizations being impatient and changing coaches every couple of years.  This approach does not work and is not sustainable way of running your organization.

Do any of you own a business?

Ours has been fortunate enough to stay open this whole time. There's not a chance in hell I would shut down for 6 weeks and have to tell our 50+ employees that they can't work. Their lives would be ruined.

P.S. We haven't had a positive test. There's ways to beat it. It's called common sense.

True but obviously there is not much of that in this country

Tow truck drivers to clear disabled vehicles from roads? Mechanics to keep vehicles of those Drs running?  Gas stations to fill said vehicles? City workers to clear storm debris? Garbage trucks to haul away waste? Just freeze the financial system and markets? And then all of the people in food production and distribution. 90% of household would be out of food in a week. You would have utter chaos on your hands. Or maybe something akin to China where they welded apartment complex doors shut only to reopen weeks late and take out the dead bodies.

Well if everyone had to stay home there would be no drivers on the road
