This game will be no walk in the park. Huskers won at Creighton 63-53.

They can add discounts on Cincy baseball tickets along with concessions, etc. at the ballpark.

The Cincinnati Krogers? Sounds good!

This was a "grind it out" game where you just have to hunker down, defend, and take what you can offensively. We don't have good enough outside shooting to win these games very often on our shooting alone. We couldn't adapt to that and got squashed.

We never really got untracked tonight. But neither did the refs! They came out with a 1-3-1 zone which we couldn't handle. Then Omoruyl got his second foul, and they went man-to-man which we couldn't crack either. Our pick-and-roll game wasn't there. We kept settling for 3's. We got them about midway in the 2d half, but we couldn't hold on. Just a really dog of a game for us. BTW that call by the ref made when the guy flopped was the worst one I've seen in awhile. The refs were looking at the replay so much they might as well have gotten off the floor and reffed it watching the TV. They would've done just as well as being out on the floor.

Rutgers rated much higher this year than last in KenPom. 2021-22 #77 #96 Off. #53 Def. 2022-23 #38 #109 Off. # 12 Def.

I think that in terms of half court offense we have been best v. the zone. We seem to move the ball better, and we flash a guy to the center of the zone and hit him which is a big threat to breakdown a zone.

Davis was talking about the fact that the offense can be run through TJD as he can shoot and pass out of the double team. That's not Bacot's game. Davis wasn't saying that overall TJD is better but just that offensively he brings something different to the table that UNC doesn't have.

His AAU coach says he is very good at pressuring the opposing PG on defense. -
CMW took him aside in the post-game handshake line and said a few words to him.

This was a great game for the Hoosiers. Only problem was the fouling. X played a great floor game and controlled the game in the last 3 minutes. He valued the clock. Twice he could've went for the lay-up but he kept the ball and ran the clock. He also hit his free throws at the end. Great game by Galloway. Great defense on and off the ball. He and X really put the pressure on UNC guards. Jalen had a great 1st half and kept us in there And of course TJD was his usual self with double-double and 4 assists. This team looked like a contender tonight.

MRI was to be done when team gets back to Bloomington based on interview with CTM. Think they got back Sunday. CTM said the court conditions weren't the reason for the injury to Grace. Grace was using crutches but not because she needed them. It was due to the long walks necessary in the hotel. I don't know where they stayed. CTM said quite diplomatically that the tournament didn't compare to the other major women's tournaments around the country. I inferred that she thought media coverage was not what it should've been. She also said they had only a few chairs for fans and no on-site medical personnel.

Good day for B1G. Nebraska in tight game v. Florida State, also.

IU football program going forward.
slojoe replied to IU Scott's topic in General Football Discussion
In college sports programs once the coach "loses" the players -- i.e., they stop believing that the coach can get them to where they want to be -- the coach is done, and it's time to get a new coach. We may have well reached that point. -
IU football program going forward.
slojoe replied to IU Scott's topic in General Football Discussion
CTA is not a great strategist, or a great offensive coach, etc. He is great at selling the program, motivating people. and creating a good culture. He has recruited more talent than any IU coach. He needs to hire coaches that can develop that talent and help with strategy. He caught lightning in a bottle with DeBoer. But that's what we need to compete at IU in football. -

Me, too! The smile on Coach K's face after Woody says that being offered the coaching job at IU was the "thrill of his life" says it all.

So what does "opening up the passing game" look like for a team that completed 2 passes in a double OT game?

Can Kopp shoot 45% from 3 this year?

There's no such thing as an "ugly 17 point lead" unless you're behind.

I was reading some of the background on Travis Steele, current Miami coach. I didn't know that he was the little brother of John Groce, former Illini and Ohio U. coach. I did know that he was hired as the video coordinator at IU under Kelvin Sampson, and he was promoted to an Assistant Coach at IU when Sampson was fired. As I recall his hire was controversial, at least, for Illini fans at the time due to the recruiting war between IU and the Illini for Eric Gordon who had already committed to Illinois. I believe that Steele was the coach of Gordon's AAU team or had some other connection. This was a subject discussed on this board often at that time in 2006. Sampson was and is a slime ball and such tactics certainly might easily be something he would do. But given the Steele's history over the last 16 years he had it in him to coach at a high level and perhaps Sampson saw that in him.

They are #289 in Kenpom rankings.

It sounds so good..."we could be as low as 10".
