I keep zoning out. When I start paying attention again, Hummel is going on about how bad one of these teams is, but I can never tell which team he's talking about.

Stretches of the game I forget Mgbako is even on the team for how long he sits on the bench
He's in the game? You just can't see him on defense.

Only Indiana can commit a flagrant foul while driving to the basket.

I'm sure I'm suppressing some Archie-era memories, but can't remember the last time I was this bored watching a basketball game.

Seems like with Peacock the on demand doesn’t work until the next day.
Last time we were on Peakcock I got home about an hour into the game.
What you have to do is turn the game on and rewind it to the beginning. I just put it on mute first and didn't look a the score.
I was then able to watch from the beginning.
You'd just have to do that before the end of the live broadcast for it to work @NCHoosier32.

So with current rules. A 2nd transfer has to sit out a year or what?
Wait, the NCAA has 'current rules'?

Yes, let's please keep this thread on topic. There are enough places to talk about the coaching situation.
Let's keep this topic to 2024 potential transfer targets.
Thanks - BGleas

I can't find the tweet that I shared last week in the IUBB 2023-24 thread, and I'm not sure how/if the numbers might have changed since Saturdays game, but there was a stat I shared along with video from Coach Adranga on how much our perimeter defense had changed/improved since Big Ten play started.
It was something like IU had the best 3pt defense in conference play, and Adranga had video clips of how the coverages and helping had changed since the start of the season.
Love seeing those adjustments from the staff and players.

Agree with everyone on Ware. He's been a huge brightspot. It's been fun watching him shed the "lazy" label that was attached to him and prove his doubters (looking at you Dana Altman) wrong!
I'll don't think he'll be back, but it would he really fun to see one more year of Ware in an IU uniform.

I understand what they told you. None of us are Brad Stevens so we don’t know what he was thinking. It’s certainly possible he threw a number out that he thought IU couldn’t meet just to play games, and IU met it. I tend to doubt that, though.
Right, but these people know Brad Stevens and are with him daily. They've had conversations with him about this, and would be speaking with him driectly about these things.
I believe IU people thought they maybe had a chance. I don't for a second believe there was some vote and Stevens wanted to come back to college.

If he can make a good amount that supports his lifestyle he would be an idiot to get back into coaching.
College coaching has now become…-Season and recruiting
-Season ends and have to re recruit your team so they don’t enter the portal
-Recruiting the portal and managing NIL
-Fall practice starts
There is literally no down time for a college coach
Other than the paycheck, I don't know why anyone would want to be a high or even mid-major college coach.
Honestly, outside the paycheck it sounds horrible.

I’ve heard the same thing, same numbers, from someone else. Was told a big chunk of it would have come from a donor and IU thought they had him.
I'm sure some people around the program maybe thought they had a chance. I don't doubt that part of it.
But, he wasn't coming. He doesn't want to come back to college. I spoke directly to a high ranking person in the Celtics org, and he laughed at the idea of Stevens coming back to college.

Not true. 7 years and 70 million was 100% on the table. Stevens considered it. He had his family vote on it and his wife and kids were against the move. He was out voted and told IU no. That’s what happened and it wasn’t just message board speculation
I just don't believe that actually happened. Understand that there's a Boston side and an IU side to this story.
But people directly inside the Celtics org laugh at the notion of Stevens going back to college coaching.

Understand and respect what you’re saying but that wasn’t my point. My point was that just because someone says something and feels a certain way in the past doesn’t mean that the right timing and opportunity can change a perspective. Saban drew a clear line in the sand with that comment but it didn’t prevent the Bama AD from shooting for the stars and being relentless with what he wanted. That attitude and mentality resulted in landing the best college football coach of all time.
Also, not sure why you’re dismissing the idea that we wouldn’t try with Jay Wright when multiple people have said Dolson was in talks with Brad Stevens and his wife about making him the highest paid CBB coach.
Brad Stevens was never coming to IU. I talked to someone in the Celtics organization the summer right after Woodson was hired.
Admittedly, I didn't directly ask about Stevens and IU but I asked my guy if they thought Stevens would ever come back to the college game.
It was an emphatic and very quick "no", and immediately followed that up by saying Stevens has no interest in recruiting again.

The biggest reason I'm ready for a change after this season? I don't trust this staff to be able to fix this. I don't trust this staff to put together a roster and system/style that will make IU a top 25 team next season.

Why does he "deserve" another year? Are you just saying that it's not fair to give a guy a job like this and only give him 3 years to prove himself? In years past, I might agree with that, but in the age of NIL, and given the cupboard he inherited was far from bare, I have a hard time seeing how that applies here and now.
The results themselves are enough for me to hope the powers that be are putting out feelers for who might be interested. The repeated defensive breakdowns, the substitution patters and the inability of a huge lineup to rebound are enough for me to want to fire him regardless of what the plan is. Those things don't take 4 years to fix.
I think you're focusing on the wrong part of my post. But I get what you're asking/saying.
I didn't mean he deserves it as some big defense of Woodson. I just meant that coaches usually get more than 3 years.
