  1. That’s true…. but that will be tougher given the competition. Guess we could play mediocre and win tomorrow. But that will be tougher to do moving forward.
  2. Potential. Can we find some consistency? Play four good games in a row? I don’t know that we did that all year.
  3. It’s fine to argue his job is much tougher and with a better team around him he’d be more consistently productive. But his average of the last 11 games can say he was pretty good, but it doesn’t mean he was consistent. Sorry, it just doesn’t. But I’ll digress. Hopefully he is consistently good over the next six games.
  4. Mad Dog Larusso (or however you spell his name) has us in the final four.
  5. No, ha ha… being consistent or inconsistent has nothing to do with how good you are or what you average. I already gave you a low level example of why average means nothing in this argument. A lot of us have already established that we feel like MK is consistent. He’s definitely not one of the top 10 players in college basketball. And he’s definitely not as good as JHS, but he’s more consistent in the numbers he does produce. More consistent defensively for sure.
  6. Sure, the average is great but doesn’t prove your claim. You can score 40 one game and 0 the next and say “isn’t averaging 20 great?”. An average over that time period says that he was pretty good. It doesn’t say that he was consistent or inconsistent.
  7. No, I didn’t go find anything. I looked at the schedule and from memory gave you examples. Left out plenty of games, and anybody with common sense knows it’s not simply about scoring. An average doesn’t prove consistency though. At home was against Iowa was another dreadful performance for him, especially on defense. I’m not trying to pick on JHS. Again, great potential, seems like a great kid, won some games for us on his own, but I’m confused how you can say he was consistent with the number of bad games he threw up. I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  8. That doesn’t anoint him consistent. Sorry. Great potential, had some great games, but also had numerous bad to mediocre games. Wasn’t much in the middle for him. Was really good against UNC, @Iowa, Nwestern, Wiscy, OSU, both Purdue games for example, but was mediocre to bad vs MSU, @Minny, @MD, vs Rutgers, @PSU, @Illinois, @Kansas, @Xavier. I mean he was a freshman, so I expect some bad or questionable play but I don’t know you can argue he wasn’t inconsistent. Consistent is sprinkling in a few bad games into a ton of great games. It happens, but when half of your big10, high major games were subpar, that’s inconsistent. Hopefully we see the good JHS in the tournament.
  9. That very well could lead to better consistency.
  10. Nah, inconsistent meaning not able to replicate play from game to game. A player can be imperfect AND consistent (MK is a prime example). None of what you stated (all true statements) determine consistency or inconsistency alone. They can certainly affect it, but what you said doesn’t cancel the meaning.
  11. I feel like TG (as much as I like the guy) has more miscommunications than anybody and he’s been with CMW longer than he was with CAM. We’re two full years in though, so any bad tendencies for anybody should have been thrown away by now.
  12. Agree, I’d say TJD, then MK, and then nobody else. 🤣 Now that’s not to say I’m thrilled with MK’s production bc I think he passes up too many shots IMO. But if we’re talking consistency, he’s the only one not named TJD IMO.
  13. JHS has definitely been inconsistent this year. As has TG, Bates, and JG.
  14. We shouldn’t be having the number of miscommunications on D that we had against PSU this late in the season. That’s what is head scratching and frustrating to me. I don’t think our guys ever quit, but I also think there’s something to be said about having those so-called “dawgs” on a team. XJ is a dawg, brings that edge we need sometimes. I don’t know if we have somebody else that fits that mold. So I somewhat get that, but I don’t know I’d call us soft, just softer than some of us would like sometimes. Too many nice guys.
  15. Agree, but we can’t give up ten 3s or it won’t be out of hand. Guarding the perimeter is beyond key here. Don’t go under any screens, don’t get lost on D, make them try to beat us with 2’s. And like you said, there’s no way that should happen.
  16. I think part of his point is that if we were smarter / had higher basketball IQ we wouldn’t be digging so many holes. I think PSU is a solid team, but our game plan or execution in the first half was unacceptable IMO, especially when we all knew what was going to happen. That’s what is frustrating to me.
  17. Get after it on D and we’ll win hands down ….. give up 20 open threes and we COULD lose if we shoot anything like we typically do from the perimeter (which means low volume and missing). Should dominate the paint, but can’t give up 10 threes.
  18. I have to admit I struggle watching it in general, but I did enjoy watching the IU women this year.
  19. I’m surprised you’re surprised 🤣. He was wildly inconsistent on offense (shooting and taking care of the ball) this year and was really bad on D many times. Isn’t very good at keeping his man in front of him or tracking his man when he doesn’t have the ball. With that said, he won us a couple games and he has all of the potential in the world, but I think he could really benefit from another year.
  20. Speaking of NET or KenPom, some of the teams higher than us make me giggle. There are 9-10 teams above us in NET that are just ridiculous……Fla Atlantic, UK, Arkansas, Iowa St, West Va, Boise St, Creighton to name most of them. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think we should be any higher than 20, but these teams being higher are a joke IMO.
  21. I guess if we drop to a five, there’s no way UK would be the four. Can certainly see Duke and IU together as the 4/5 though!
  22. I think this season is already a step in the right direction, but I will be disappointed if we don’t make the second weekend. I really hope Woody addresses the perimeter defense and perimeter shooting issues this off-season that seem to be a consistent issue with this team in the last 10 years. Would also like to see a more consistent effort on D overall. No excuse for guys to be having miscommunications left and right at this point in the season. If we’re still seeing these issues come big10 play next year then I’m going to be wondering where the deeper problem lies.
  23. I really don’t care if we’re a 4, 5, or 6. I don’t think that changes a whole lot for us. We can beat anybody in the country when we make shots and have the right intensity on D. We can also lose to a lot of teams we shouldn’t. Hopefully we don’t get matchup nightmares like Iowa and PSU and we show up ready to play D for six straight games instead of one half of each game we play.
