  1. I don’t like losing, but I think this loss will be good for us in the long run and it may have been needed. We will learn from this game. A couple points/questions that I want to make especially regarding the shooting and stretch 4 position especially since Rutgers and others have been packing the paint.

    1) Does CMW shorten the leash on Geronimo and Race taking 3’s? Combined this season they are 4/27 or slightly under 15% from behind the arc. There’s no way to sugar coat it…that’s terrible. Our opponents are playing percentages and these two are not capable shooters. Each time they shoot it’s like a turnover. There are reasons Race and Geronimo are left wide open. For example, Travis Steele yelled to his players during the Miami game regarding Geronimo “He can’t shoot!” He’s not wrong and percentages and years worth of prior shooting stats prove this.

    2) As others alluded to…is it time to start Malik?

    3) Although we will be smaller, Is it time to start taking minutes away from Race and Geronimo in favor of CJ Gunn? That may mean playing Kopp/Bates/Gunn together. Again, we need shooters — or at least the threat — to run offense adequately through Trayce. Simply put, a defense has to respect Gunn’s shot making ability. Each possession Race and Geronimo are behind the arc taking 3s I feel as though we might as well be playing 4 on 5 on offense. To further this point, I’m almost certain Rutgers on multiple possessions was throwing 2 additional guys at TJD.

As mentioned above, I don’t think our loss is necessarily a bad thing…need to learn and I think we will.

The question is are they a great team. They were a bubble team lady year but got hot at the right time. For Most of the year UNC fans were not happy with the job Davis was going.

Understand. However, UNC wants to be considered a great team. We’ll see what happens. We just need to be ready.

  3. There was no room for Rob on this year’s team and so far his stats at Cincinnati aren’t eye popping.

I’m always surprised when I hear people say we have the same team that we did last year. That’s not the case at all. Talent has increased substantially this year. We had 4 guys transfer out…not one of them transferred to a power 5 school. We replaced those 4 guys with a top notch recruiting class of which is already paying major dividends.

    Do you think we won't?

I do think we win…and by a lot. But there’s always that 1-2 percent chance we don’t. Rather play the game first and not overlook them.

Not saying it will happen…but I could see it being a closer game than expected in the first half due to a “letdown” after the Xavier game. Old IU teams would allow that after a nice win…I’m hopeful that won’t happen here. I think this team is different.
