Season quickly slipping away.

Obviously not much leadership on this team.

Did Kopp play tonight against NU? Seemed pretty invisible again. 

This is arguably this biggest game of the season so far. Need to win this.

How were the high school rankings so far off on Lander? The ranking has actually done him a disservice because we all had much higher expectations than what we’ve seen. Without Phinisee we’re thin at the guard position. What happens next year? It seems certain we have to hit the portal for a guard. To think, Lander was actually rated as the #1 guard in his class. I’m not sure he was a top 500 guard in his class. I’m also starting to worry about Bates. He had a couple nice moments today, but so far he’s not a difference maker. Don’t get me wrong, I think Bates has a great opportunity to be good, but again, I think his 5 star ranking may have been a bit too much. Yes, he’s a freshman, but far more often than not, 5 star freshman are difference makers for a team.  Bates is not.

Imagine if Bates and Lander were playing like 5 stars? Our ceiling would be much higher. One thing for sure after these last couple recruiting cycles…recruiting rankings and even 5 star rankings can be way off.  Let’s hope JHS puts an end to what seems like a drought of “5 star players being overrated” and in Lander’s case vastly overrated.  

Where was Kopp in the game today? Did he play at all?

Illinois is the far better team. 
 

TJD consistently gets out performed against bigger players. 
 

Don’t look now, but the schedule doesn’t get much easier. NW is about as close to a must win as you can get. We could lose multiple games here.

Solid win! Get a week off. Hopefully Rob will feel better. Onto Illinois.

I agree. He and Parker are the best shooters on the team. I’m not debating that. But is that saying much? We’re not a great shooting team to begin with. Maybe I should have reworded the good to great. Kopp is not a great shooter…decent? Yes. His overall shooting percentages are in the 30s…including 2s. That’s not great.   As someone pointed out…race is shooting in the teens from deep. 

Is Miller Kopp a good 3p shooter? I think that’s up for debate.

Serious observation...but I think Durr is one of our best shooters on the team. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad...probably more bad.

MSU always comes out and plays after a loss because Izzo's practices after a poor performance are very tough.  Make no mistake, their win and focus against Wisconsin after the bad loss to NW was no coincidence

Ok…maybe top 25? Keep in mind…DJ was both top 10 in program history for both blocks and rebounds.
Regardless, both players were excellent, wore our jerseys with pride and represented our university very well….They are very respected among the Indiana faithful.

Yes…very unfortunate, I was at IU when this all happened….but we haven’t been squeaky clean either the last 14 years. We’re dealing with young adults.

 Keep in mind , Sampson also brought in Gordon, Roth, Elston and Pritchard. All high level program guys that bleed Indiana.

Players like Gordon, White and Stemler all have publicly spoken highly of Sampson. Say what you want but DJ and Gordon are 2 of the greatest to don the cream and crimson.

Serious question. Did we ever lose more than a couple home games with Sampson? I remember UConn and Jim Calhoun came into assembly hall when we were the #6 team in the nation and beat us…Of course the game where Brian “Polar Bear” Butch banked in a 3 against us….but at the top of my head I can’t think of anymore. 

They’re one dimensional and liabilities on defense. What do these guys bring to the table if they can’t/don’t shoot?  
 

I think we need to start looking at other options. Let’s give Bates more minutes. Maybe he can gain confidence. 

How many layups did we miss? 20? Also, I know he hit one today…but for the love of God, can someone please tell Race to stop shooting 3’s like he’s at the YMCA. Work on your 3’s in practice, not in an actual game.

Dickinson was by far the best big man on the court today. We had no answer for him.

That was a thorough 40 min ass-kicking by Michigan.

Are we really all that shocked? This is Indiana basketball after all. We’ve seen these types of performance after big victories for years now. 

We need to capitalize on our momentum and win this game.

For whatever reason, during Miller’s tenure, we were never able to build sustained momentum. That was one of Archie’s greatest failures.
 

With Woodson at the helm, let’s build on the win against PU and win this game today.
