Pg by committee I’d say. Some Galloway and probably Carlisle but neither should be running the point.

Gallo isn’t a true pg but his command of the offense is so much better than Cupps. Cupps’ contribution on offense last year was to get the ball over half court and give up the ball asap, then run away from the ball. His per 40 assists were 2.1! Horrible for a pg. Gallo was 5.5. Cupps has to make a huge jump to be a backup pg.

As I read it, the rule is under an injunction...For the time being, underclassmen can transfer twice without penalty...

"The NCAA also said athletes would "continue to be subject to all other existing eligibility legislation and to any eligibility standards required for competition that may be developed or modified for the 2024-25 academic year."

The lawsuit is scheduled for a jury trial in June 2025 in Wheeling, West Virginia."

    Yes, but...

In granting the temporary restraining order, the court found that there is a likelihood of success on the merits of the claims. This means the judge believes the state attorney generals will likely prevail on their claim that the NCAA’s transfer waiver rules violate federal antitrust law, according to sports law attorney Mit Winter.

Reynolds and Battle both told the court that the NCAA was preventing them from earning pay from their NIL contracts at each school.

“It’s harder to make more money,” Reynolds said of not playing this season.

Battle compared his “NIL contract” at WVU to an employment contract and says the NCAA is preventing him from accessing his full payment. “I’m not going to get what I signed for,” he said.

“No excuses if this team struggles”

I’d hope most fans could be content with that status

Exactly. They will be more talented than nearly any team they face. May take some time early for it to gel, but by late December there should be no excuses. They should at least be on par with Illinois this past season (26-8, 2nd in B1G, 3 seed, Elite 8 (not less than S16).

Hunter Dickinson reminds me of a grown man who used to always want to play in our backyard football games and be QB for both sides when I was about 12

He's also the poster child for pretty much zero development in college.  He was 2nd team all American as a freshman with pretty much the same PPG and rebounds.

Crean said he's the reason KS has no interior defense. Can't defend ball screens.

At best, he may be a late second round pick, but doubtful. He should return to KS.

Sorry gang. Maybe it was old news. I just saw it today.

Officially announced today but apparently both parties knew all season he wouldn't return.

“A.J. is looking to make a pro career,” Izzo said last week on Staudt on Sports on AM-730 in Lansing. “But he could go back to college; it wouldn’t be here. We have some younger guys and he has exhausted his (eligibility) and he’ll graduate. But I think he’d like to get into pro ball whether it be Europe, whether it be the G League. But nowadays everybody will look at college, too, depending on offers from different places.”

I cannot fathom taking Penix or Nix in the first rd. To each their own.

Lost amid the slavering over the quarterbacks who went No. 1, 2, and 3 was Nix's supremacy in several critical statistical areas that Payton highly prioritizes. The Broncos had eyes for Nix dating back weeks, and late Thursday night, Payton talked about how the Oregon product "stood out" from his fellow first-round QB brethren.

"I would say that probably early into the process, shortly after these workouts, he stood out in a lot of areas," Payton said on Thursday night following Round 1 of the draft. "You pay close attention to all the film study. Obviously, he’s played a lot of football, but [he stood out in] sack differential, turnover differential, accuracy, third-down passing. [He was] first, first, first, first in this class. First in end-of-half, first in end-of-game, two-minute situations, second in red zone. Then let’s do another passing statistic and remove a lot of the short, underneath throws. Obviously, that’s part of what they do offensively, and you remove that, and you come back with the analytics, and it’s still first. I would say his arm strength was—we saw it at the Pro Day—but even in the private workout, was very good. He’s super smart."

I tend to agree. It would be one thing if we didn't need this player, but the past few seasons have told us we probably will at some point.

With Newton’s injury, they would realistically be at 11 going in to next season if they leave the scholly open. We all hope he can play, but that’s a big question mark at this time.
Even if he can play some, I don’t feel good about Leal and Newton as Carlyle’s backups.

  8. FedEx has announced a massive $25 million name, image and likeness investment in Memphis athletics that will fund $5 million in NIL contracts over each of the next five years in key sports while promoting the company. The deal is believed to be the biggest corporate NIL partnership of its type in college athletics.

I actually think it’s a smart fit. Catch and shoot stretch 4. Doesn’t need the ball in his hands like the young guns. Will be surrounrded by playmakers and he can just spot up, rebound, and play defense. He will be an enforcer type in the ACC finesse conference.

Veteran leadership on a very young team
