Hopefully he decides to stay and he plays the 4 this coming season. The big issue with that is how crappy our interior defense would be with MR at the 5 and MG at the 4. But if you keep them at 3 and 4 and bring in another 5, then we are right back where we were this past year...crappy.
If MG leaves, then I would have MR shooting 3s all summer and in his sleep. Whatever you can do to turn him into an outside threat.
If MG returns, then I would have MR figuring out how to be an undersized rim protector without fouling as much.
Basically MR is going to have to move one way or the other instead of stuck in between positions.
seems like a conundrum. i mean we definitely want Taco back, but it will kind of put us right back where we were, but with possibly less talent. first it's hard to see Woodson putting him at the 4. if he does though, then Reneau starts at the 5, and like you said, defense is rough. i like it offensively though! more likely Taco is back at the 3 and Reneau at the 4, and a transfer at the 5. we all know how that worked out this season and that was with a very talented Ware.

i think this staff will take the first 7 warm bodies that say yes
all joking aside, i don't think we're in that position right? i mean we do have good $ to offer and we are a power 5 program. now, can we get the top guys, i guess probably not, but i would still think we could offer our top 7-8 guys and hold off on the others until we get some definite "no thank yous" or more guys enter after their teams are eliminated right?

Malik Mack is my personal #1
i haven't seen him on a list that we have interest or contact yet right?

so i guess just for fun, in my not very informed opinion...and if it was based only on the guys available now...and only the ones we seem to have interest/contact with, i'd say these 7 would be my pick to fill our roster:
Bryson Tucker
Kanaan Carlyle
Amari Williams
Cade Tyson
Frankie Fidler
Malik Dia
Jordan Sears
Then again, that would still only give us one legit PG. I guess Perkins should be toward the top? What other PGs toward the top? Is Walker that good? Slajchert? Hickman?

We will take anyone that has a lick of talent. We need 7, SEVEN players. We will be asking players from the HPER like Crean did soon.

and that's assuming Taco is back right?

I was going to tag you in that. I thought you wanted him?
i definitely don't know much about him, but with the updated lists, i would think we could do better. who knows though!? so hard to keep up with all of it. i guess it's kind of exciting though.

i suppose Tucker has higher upside but Liam may be the safer bet of the two options(and likely the better 3 pt shooter out of the two).
not sure he has a higher upside than Liam, but sure would be nice to land him!

He is a winner until he chokes out another girl friend.
i mean okay, but Ole Miss probably looked into it a little before hiring him right?

not quite there yet. Another year, I'd take him.
I dont think you want to be the first school that hires someone coming out of an instance like that.
If you wait, you can say... we did our research, we brought him in and had a long conversation with him, blah, blah, blah
wait. he coached at Ole Miss this season.

Has nothing to do with "holier than thou", it has to do with Calipari just not being a good game coach.
totally agree. i just don't think he is a good coach. my holier than thou argument goes to Beard. still say he is a winner, young enough to be around a long time, and a solid fit.

Meh, I think this is a pretty big oversimplification and stretching the truth a little bit. I haven’t seen one person on here insinuate that we should have turned our heads to what was going on under Sampson. His inability to follow a rule he had already broken and inability to police his kids rightfully cost him his job. I think most are talking about how the administration appears to be unwilling to hire guys that have broken minor rules (rules that aren’t rules anymore in some cases) in the past.
i absolutely hate to say this, but Purdue does a pretty good job of doing both right? pretty clean program or at least with the reputation of one and contends for the B1G every year?

If it says G by their name and at least 39% from 3, they go to the top.
yeah, i get what everyone is saying, but we do have to have tiers right? meaning no brainers that we take the second they say yes, but some others that we wait to see if anything better comes along after the tourney is over? admittedly this is not super informed, but my first though is that i would hope Davis and Jackson are definitely wait and sees. if we are interested in Essegian, i hope he's a wait and see. depending on what role he expects, i hope he is a no thank you. i would hope Dinkins, Gillespie, and Albury might be in that list as well? any of the other guys you'd take immediately? interested in any info on why people would swap groups any of those guys are in.

I agree. And he's 46.
i think he is definitely a good coach, but i'm not a fan. would definitely take a handful of other coaches over him.

i am bummed about this because he seemed like the most likely candidate that could be here for a long time. at the same time, we can't risk making the wrong decision again, so i would prefer a proven winner at a power 5. so now what after next year? Pearl? still say Beard, but know we won't.

doesn't excite me a ton because how often do you even see redshirts these days and how often do kids stick around with one team long enough to develop if they are a project?
