    It got worse:

Head coach Marcus Freeman said after the game he initially tried to substitute a fourth defensive lineman onto the field at Notre Dame Stadium, but instead of taking a penalty and giving the Buckeyes another chance to scheme, Freeman decided to operate with 10 players instead of 11 as Chip Trayanum gave Ohio State the lead in its 17-14 victory.

Typical. I've seen plenty of teams get OSU on the ropes over the years, only to blow it thanks to something incredibly stupid. Add another to the list.

Irish then return the favor and try to get cute too. Just run it right down their throat with your power back…smh

They really screwed up on their last possession. The botched first down play that lost 5 yards, followed by an incomplete pass on second down, then taking a delay of game on the punt...can't give a team like OSU that many breaks when they need the ball back.

Thought he had one of his best recruiting classes after that 2020 so I imagine they will improve. Hard to find alumni with a coaching background that he has. He won their only bowl game they’ve ever won and took them to two.  Most schools at that level have their ups and downs as it takes time for their better recruiting classes to get older…but overall hard to imagine it’s worth buying him out. Just let him finish his contract and move on if they think they can do better….but I doubt it. They are a 500 school and that’s about what he has given them…while giving them the best season they’ve ever had. Also if they wanted to be better than 500 they could just stop playing SEC schools.

Yeah, BSU fans aren't very realistic (then again, what fanbase is?). They're already convinced Michael Lewis isn't going to be successful because he's had a rough offseason (lost all five starters to the portal). Never mind he just had the second-most wins by a rookie coach ever at BSU. It's not an easy place to recruit to, with poor facilities, a cheap administration and Muncie being a dump.

Why? Hasn’t he been a great coach at that program?? Lot more success most. Strong ties to program…you think they could do better?

He's in his 8th season and has finished above .500 once, in 2020 when he won the MAC along with the program's first bowl game. His first four seasons were mostly awful, and everything since 2020 has been pretty lousy. Very much a bell-curve type of career. I think a lot of BSU fans are just over him at this point.

If I didn't know better, I'd swear you were talking about the Yankees!! In last night's game against Detroit, the first 8 batters all struck out!! But the Yanks did manage a 4-1 win with Severino pitching a decent game no less. I think Severino was auditioning for other teams as I don't think he will be back in New York next year, JMO.

Looks like the Tigers and their non-existent offense were just what the doctor ordered for your Yankees.

Traditional NE Indians football power FW Bishop Dwenger is 0-2 thus far and has been outscored 108-7. They were also knocked down from 5A to 4A due to lack of recent playoff success.
I know that these things tend to go in cycles but the heyday for this program may be in the rear view mirror

Moving down might actually hurt them more at the sectional level. In 5A, they got a bye week, with a chance of playing somebody like North Side or Anderson the week after, and not seeing Snider until the championship.

Can't ever totally count out a program like that, though. In 2014 they had a losing record and there was talk that their glory days were over. They won state the following season.

  7. Been a rough week for the NWS when it comes to tornado warnings. Last weekend, there was a spotter a couple counties away from me who reported a cone-shaped funnel almost reaching the ground, with a strong signature on radar, and no warning was ever issued. Then this afternoon, this happened near Crawfordsville and somehow slipped through the cracks.

OK...The Cubs-Cardinals series, one of the great baseballe rivalries was over at the end of July this year...Over...I'd much rather watch a game between rivals like the Cubs-Cards or Yankees-Red Sox in September, I want to go against teams I'm competing with for that division title rather than play the Rockies while my main contenders are playing the Padres and the Diamondbacks...I want to be able to directly make up ground...

MLB should schedule those games for later in the season then. It doesn't mean they need more games with each other.

I'm not going to speak for @Seeking6, but my problem is more the lack of inter-division games and particularly when those games are played...

52 games against division foes isn't enough...

That number was in the 70's before, or almost half the schedule. Playing the same four teams that many times gets pretty stale after awhile.

Teagle is already pissing off the helicopter parents and I'm here for it. He's had the kids in the gym at 6 a.m. treating it like an actual practice: working on screens, cuts, ball reversals, basic fundamental stuff. He's made it clear he's not interested in whiny parents or armchair coaches, it's his program and if the parents don't like it, they are welcome to remove their child from the team.

We won't be good this year but it's so nice to see this kind of hard-nosed leadership again.

Everything that was missing us in May and June and early July has now been hitting us pretty hard. This week alone between my yard and aunt's up the road we have had 7 very large branches/trees come down on north side of Indy.

It's been weird where I live. In June everything was going south of us, and in July it feels like everything has been going north. No damage here last night, although we did get a severe thunderstorm warning (the typical "60 mph winds" that are probably more like 40 mph). NWS crews are looking at Portland and the northwest side of Fort Wayne for possible tornado damage.

Also, I want to give credit to weather forecasters, who hear all kinds of insults when they're wrong but crickets when they're right. The forecasts this week were spot on, and July/August storm systems are hard to predict because the jet stream is all over the place.

Thank God this is the last game against the Brewers this year. If you take our games out vs the Brewers out we would be 5 games ahead of them for the division

I remember a season where the Tigers went 15-4 against the Indians and finished 1 game ahead of them to win the division.
