Not confusing at all. They are headed for yet another bad season with a mediocre at best roster.

    @Boiler Sam another one....

His job is to put talent on the field, he does that. Clearly.

  2. I just can't get over XJ, Cupps, Gunn, Banks, Sparks, Walker, and Leal playing 1400+ mins in conference alone and then you guys coming on here and calling that group talented. Like where? What skills do any of those guys possess that make them talented, especially at the Power 5/B1G level?

Now-- that collection of talent, along with an injured Newton, and open scholly is 100% on Woodson and staff, but my lord.

39% of our minutes were played by these guys, in conference. 2 of them were on the court, on average, at all times. Cmonnnnnn. Be realistic. Not everything HAS to be a knock on Woodson.

Talents there now, in spades. 100% has to make it function well this year.

Is Woodson a great recruiter or not? It has been thrown around that he has proven his critics wrong by his recruiting prowess yet now the new supporting stance is lack of talent and options? It cant be both.

Not that I completely disagree with the options narrative. Not long ago, I said specifically that freshman Jalen was easily leaps and bounds ahead of any IU guard on the roster and the X defenders wasn't having it.

At the same time, I don't buy the narrative of lack of talent or options as an excuse from a fella that is making 4.2 million dollars and is supposed to be some kind of basketball wizard yet he cant assemble and/or develop a competitive team with all of the available IU resources until mega donors who wont admit their beloved Mr Nice Guy of their glory days is not the coaching expert they had put their mouth and money on step up and increase the ante to purchase the talent needed that he couldn't on his own create or provide through traditional means.

Who has said the bold though?

Yeah the lack of talent argument is just looking at the end result imo. At least when put in the context of we had the talent to at least be a bubble team, not necessarily the talent to be a big ten title contender.

If you look at the first four teams, none of them had any sort of a bench except Colorado. Even Colorado really only had 2 bench players who played, their other bench guys were complete liabilities. The rest of the teams all had benches that looked like IU’s. And I don’t think any of those teams had starting rotations that were more talented than IU’s, except for probably Colorado again.

Not when XJ went down/was dysfunctional. 100% on Woodson for that, but no way.

The rest of the teams had clearly better guards.

I can’t like this enough.  BTN sucks at covering baseball.  I wonder if this will change at all with the addition of the west coast teams?

I just don't understand it. There should never be re-runs that trump live baseball.

My complaints are this and are based off my personal interpretation of basketball. Some are just my personal annoyances and some i think might be legitimate complaints.   But as always, my opinion.  Not fact.

    1. Starting the same players every game and every half feels strange to me.  Even if someone is playing well off the bench or playing terrible, it was almost always the same.
    2. Killing momentum runs with weird subs, whether platoon style or just a couple.  Don't mess with a winning momentum swing.
    3. Seeing a player in the first half who played well in the time they got, not getting any playing time in the second half.  Why would a player not get time in the second half if they played very well in the first, i think you should lean into this and team them that playing well is encouraged and gets more PT.
    4. The Auto subbing of a player with 2 fouls, and then sitting them for way to long, same as a substitution.  Your starters should not site for 5-9 minutes of the game.  You should also trust your players to play through having two fouls (There are always exception to this of course).
    5. Same offense and defense, even when you're getting toasted.  Very little adjustment throughout the game or the year.  Just the same think, hoping for the outcome you think will happen.

These to me are things i think Coach Woodson could be more flexible in.  Again, just my 1c worth.

    1. Is very normal and basically the strategy used by every coach, I would not be a fan of changing lineups regularly... And in fact, as a player, it would piss me off.

    2. You have to sub, they get tired. Sometimes that happens during a run, but why does that sub have to effect momentum? The sub should continue the good play.

    3. When does #3 happen? Is there an example?

    4. Reasonable. But more depth behind the player who gets his 2nd foul would be my preferred route to tackle this issue. I don't think trusting Malik to not get his 3rd foul is a smart strategy, same with XJ. Others we've had could probably navigate it. I've argued mightily for 6 fouls in college BB, 2 fouls affect the game too much.

    5. Same offense-- yes when your guards suck, like ours did, there are only so many options to go to.

I used the Taco Bell app for the first time yesterday.  Ordered as I was leaving the house and within 30-45 seconds of arriving they were calling my name.  Not sure why I never used it before.

I use the app, basically everywhere I go.
