Well, if we don't get c=vaccinated and develop her immunity, this thread will still be going strong 5 years from now and we will be in a worldwide financial depression to rival 1929.

The only way we hit 75-85% vaccinated is if it is forced. Then that will open up a whole new set of problems...  my guess is you get about as many vaccinated as will take it, then open everything back up...  if the vaccine is a high risk to the old and weak,  they won't take it.  People will go see their parents and grandparents,  because who wants to live the last year or two of your life alone.   I only know 3-4 people who have taken it, and they are all pretty young.  My 81 yr old mother in law retired nurse is more likely to give it to us, than we are to her. Her and her friends go wherever they feel like..

If true, that changes my position.

It's a big reason I believe we will never hit the numbers they are looking for.  A very large portion believe its pointless if you can still get, carry, and be contagious.   I currently fall in that group...  If I lived in a very heavy hit area I may think differently.  I believe Lostin76 said quite a few medical workers are now declining to tale the shot... if they are, good luck getting a significant number of Midwest and Southern states to buy in

I'm on the fence with whether giving extended care patients priority to vaccinations is even the right thing to do.  Yes, they are very vulnerable to the disease.  But, they are also vulnerable to death from other things as well.  It seems a more effective approach would be to vaccinate those that may come into contact with nursing home patients first.  In other words, give priority to the health care workers (which we have), but also the children and grandchildren of these patients.  If those people get vaccinated, then not only are they not bringing the disease into the facility, but they are also not spreading the disease outside the facility either.  I think it speeds up herd immunity.

I could be wrong, but I'm under the impression you can still get, carry, and spread covid even after being vaccinated.   The vaccine just cuts symptoms severity down...  some correct me if I'm wrong

DUDE, are we twins? Harbeth HP5+ or La Scala’s are my absolute end goal in speakers. Harbeth if I end up with sold state amp and La Scala if I end up with tubes.

Are you on the Steve Hoffman forums? The only reason I ask is if you mention Harbeth and La Scalas then you are obviously lost to the audiophile bug!

Lol I am not quite there yet.. only due to the fact I promised the wife we would finish this theater room.

I was really back and forth on saying screw it, and putting a pair of La Scala up front.  My friend owns a Home theater business, and was really wanting me to try this Triad stuff, so I did.

If things get back to semi normal over the next year, I will be picking your brain on some of this stuff. I'm just learning,  but have similar tastes to yours obviously.

I will. I had also really been considering a new Yamaha AS-2200. Different look, but those view meters make me weak in the knees. Not sure how old you are, but this one screams 1970s to me.

Born in '76. And yes, that has retro written all over it.  My stuff is all the latest from Marantz,  but I certainly appreciate the direction you are going.  I can see myself heading that way as well, for a designated two channel system.

I like Harbeth quite a bit... although im not a klipsch guy, I find myself drawn to their La Scala...  either ran on tubes will be good i think

Marantz and Parasound sounds good to me! At one point, I thought about trying to do a set up with a vintage Marantz receiver. They (along with Yamaha) just continue to crank out good two-channel audio.

I liked the Peachtree b/c it sounded really nice for my small room and my wife liked the look of it. They are nice-looking amps.

About two years ago I got a tube headphone amp to power my Audeze LCD-2 headphones and it really made me want to go all tubes for my setup.

First pic is my Woo Audio (made here in Brooklyn) headphone amp and Audeze LCD-2 headphones, made in Cali.

Second pic is the Rogue Audio that I’m in the process of ordering - they are made to order from Pennsylvania. It‘s a 55 pound chunk of metal and tubes! Not sure how long it will take to arrive, but I’m excited about it.

Very cool!  It's hard to beat the sound of a good tube amp. Thanks for sharing, and please update us when your Rogue comes in.

Now, you’re talking! I’m definitely into two channel audio. Nothing huge like @hoosier_exotics has posted. I wouldn’t last a day w/o being kicked out of our building with those two subs!

My current setup is a Rega TT that’s pretty modded out, going into a Peachtree Class D amp, which feeds B&W speakers.

I’m about to get a full tube amp that spits out a 100 watts (which is a lot for all tubes).

I’ve also got a tube headphone amp that feeds three different sets of headphones depending on my mood.

Besides beer and books, music is my big hobby. I’m at the “hiding albums from my wife stage at least once” a week phase.

Right now I am using this system for dbl duty...  eventually I want to build a true 2 channel setup myself.

I just picked up a pair of Rega rs3 from a friend of mine. Peachtree is on the short lost to run those as well...

Eventually i will get a turntable. Rega is what I have been researching mostly...

I was going to do entire Paradigm Persona system, but my friend talked me into the Triad Gold series for my room.  So far I have no complaints. They aren't fancy or cutting edge in design, but they sound pretty dang good.

Marantz and Parasound powering it all...

Anybody here get the vaccine yet?  I just got a call that said employees at our school can get the vaccine tomorrow.  Not sure which vaccine it is.

My niece and nephew both have taken the vaccine.. as of yesterday,  their heads had not exploded yet.  They are both young.  Long term I'm worried about fertility issues on the younger generation

Correct.  You can pass it on to people who don't get vaccinated.  Those that are vaccinated would not get it however.

There are a ton of different strain to covid... is this vaccine going to cover them all, or is it going to be like the flu shot?  My uneducated guess is it will cover what was in the vaccine, and your sol on the other strains

I'm sure they were saying that in 1918 too. I sure hope you're wrong bother.

Paranoia will take a long time to get past.  Then we get to see what the long term issues are going to be, economy, mental, starvation... people in 1918 were quite a bit tougher than this world is today

I just don't think comparing the COVID vaccine to the flu vaccine is a healthy exercise. First COVID is causing a pandemic, is much more infectious and way more deadly and dangerous than the seasonal flu. Secondly, the flu shots efficacy ranges from 40% - 60%, which in most years is a coin flip. The COVID vaccines are 90% - 95% effective.

Nobody likes the situation we are in, but I hope everybody realizes that the vaccine is our tool to herd immunity. We aren't necessarily taking it for ourselves; we are also taking it for everybody else. The more people who take it....the quicker we get back to normal.  If you have reservations about its safety or a religious reason for not taking it then that certainly is your right and I won't criticize that.

Sorry brother, normal is a long way off for us, if we ever see it again.

I'm fine with that approach. Hey idiot...put your mask on would be my approach during these times.

I feel sorry for the people who cant actually wear a mask.  I used to work with a guy who was so claustrophobic,  he couldn't keep a mask on his face.

I saw him literally jump off a 20' extension ladder, and flail aound on the ground like he was on fire. All because of a paper mask...  dude was white as a sheet and sweeting like crazy.
