Dakich likes the hire. But I turned him on and he was mocking the role of Matta. He made fun of the notion that he grew up a fan of IU because Dan actually busted his butt for IU. Then Dan ridiculed Matta’s role as making sure the travel was ok.
Dan is smarter than that. Matta is a pro. He knows the recruiting landscape and how to succeed at it in Indiana (Oden, Conley, Thomas), Ohio etc. He has contacts for staff. He knows the conference. Also, he might not be on the bench, but presumably he’s another set of eyes. He will be able to tell Woody what he saw as a top coach the next day or whatever. I think Matta is a huge asset. Hopefully he keeps his ego in check and the relationship with Woody goes really well.
Dakich has been calling for a former Knight player to be coach forever. I take it that he feels it's a slap in the face to Woodson that he needs a guardrail or training wheels or however someone put it.

WNDY tv schedule here in Indy market says high school basketball on tonight at 730-930. Wish there was a way to find out which game they'll broadcast. Hopefully Carmel/Westfield but that game starts at 7.
I think Greg Rakestraw does the broadcast and his twitter says North Central and Lawrence North.

Drake, after losing to Loyola Chicago yesterday 81-54, beats LC today 51-50 in OT
And Damezi Anderson didn't play in either of them. They played 13 guys in the blowout win. I know Loyola has a veteran team and Damezi had planned to sit this year but you would think he could get in more than 3 games in this freebie of a season. I hope he's not injured.

Restarting football? Big10 bb is more physical and should scratch the football itch. I say bring him in.

Well it appears in a four of weeks we will get a commitment from CJ Gunn from Indy
I was thinking more about point guards.

How do you know he wants to leave KSU
I don't. I just meant I wish CAM would look at Indy, especially when he strikes out nationally. I was just using Pack as an example.

Completely agree, I'd even drill it down further to lack of recruiting big time point guards. He got Phinisee and then it was 3 years until he landed Lander, who as we all know was really a kid in 2021.
IU has had really bad, to average at best point guard play since Archie got here, and you'd think point guard would be a position he'd be able to nail, being a point guard himself.
He's basically struck out on every high level (by high level I mean top 50-75ish) point guard he's gone after until Lander. We always explained it that recruits figured Phinisee would have the position locked down, but unfortunately Phinisee hasn't develop like many had hoped.
Imagine this team with a Yogi at point guard?
I see Nijel Pack is ready to come back after getting covid. Local Indy kid that's starting for KSU as a freshman. 2.6/1 assist to turnover ratio in his 12 games. Also averaging 32 mpg. Shooting isn't bad other than his FT's. I know IU brought in Lander in this class, I just don't see why CAM can't bring in a local PG after striking out nationally. I know he's small and his rank (120) doesn't impress but almost anything would be better than running with RP and AD all the time.

I have no idea. Since they have the other quarterback and are in a terrible cap situation they might do it.
The Colts are a quarterback and another speed receiver from being elite.
And a left tackle.

Looks like Damezi Anderson has decided to play this season after all. Got in for 7 minutes and was 2-2 from the field, including a 3, and had 2 assists and a block. I guess with a free year and their crazy schedule due to covid, they figured, why not?

Anyone know how Damezi is doing? Just curious. He from what I could tell was a good kid. Wish it would of worked out for him at IU
Last I heard he had to sit a year. According to ESPN Loyola-Chi doesn't play their first game until 9 Dec, and their 2nd game is 30 Dec. I don't know if he submitted a waiver or not to play this year.
Edit: They have paused all team activities due to positive covid tests among team personnel.

I guess it shows that having all freshman and transfers might not always work. Richmond is a good program with experience and those teams will be hard for young teams to beat
With their youth, UK is always vulnerable early.
