Really disheartening that it’s come to this. Beyond frustrating that Buckner has no desire to have an open and honest conversation about his actions and their current consequences. To keep Woody around for a 4th year simply because Archie did is completely tone deaf to how much CBB has evolved over the past 2-3 years (transfer portal, NIL, expanding conferences, tv deals, etc). This is a business, not “make a wish foundation”.

People like him claim to love the university and program yet prioritize their own personal relationships over the greater good of the school. Not to mention, Buckner is a terrible friend if he thinks keeping Woodson around another year is smart, when we all know fans will be volatile and the narrative around his legacy will be forever tarnished.

    Yep

I’m assuming Dolson is aware of this since he had that players only meeting recently? At this stage, is it just about affording the buyout and needing those big boosters to flip?

I’m really struggling with how anyone can be on board/defend him staying another year if his entire roster has no interest in playing for him next year. If Dolson tells you that, how do you not have more confidence that Pearl or May can be the difference in keeping some of those key pieces around before it’s too late?

i say this can be turned into a positive.  we hire Pearl, but he is kinda up there in age.  let him do his thing for however long while May adjusts to B1G coaching.  then we steal him away from OSU.

I guess things to consider (as of now):

-Rumor that BP wants his son to be the next coach in line when he retires. Is that something IU would do in order to get him? Does Auburn take his son instead if he moves on and eliminate that risk?

-Goodman said in that video that it’s possible Dusty becomes the top choice for both Louisville and Ohio St. I think it’s safe to assume Dusty will be considered for other P5 jobs too (think West Va already has). Does another school put language in his contract to make it impossible for IU to afford his buyout? Also, would Dusty move to IU if things were going well at his new gig and vibes are poor at IU?

I would still prefer Pearl over May because he’s won everywhere he’s been but would be happy with either at this rate.

"It’s always feels nice to beat Maryland too." It's also always nice to beat them two...  times in the same season! LOL. Maybe in the BBT we can make it three!! I really don't like Maryland.

Yea for me I’m throughly enjoying

    1) DHS was hyped to be BTFOTY and has struggled while Mac has been playing well and could win the weekly award for the 3rd week in a row

    2) Jamie Kaiser allegedly threw shade towards our coaches post commitment because our staff told him on his visit he would likely come off the bench. Ends up at Maryland just to do exactly that for a worse team.

    3) Their fans said our coaches paid Joe Tipton for the IG live thing with Liam (which never ended up happening anyway) and claimed we were telling Queen Willard was going to take the Louisville job (not even being considered). They’ve also proceeded to regularly ask for Willard’s resignation.

    4) SVP quote tweeted some IU fan like last week saying something like “how’s your team doing?”. That dude should quote tweet him back and say “better than yours for starters.”

    5) Geronimo doesn’t look any better or have a bigger role after transferring

  5. Really happy for the players and coaches. They’ve caught a lot of heat the past couple weeks (some deserved, some undeserved) and have responded. Props to them because I don’t know if I would have the mental fortitude to carry on when it’s been so toxic recently. It’s easy to just give up and they haven’t.

Just nice to see players smiling and fans taking a deep breathe and relaxing for a bit.
Gonna enjoy the moment while it lasts lol.

It’s always feels nice to beat Maryland too.

Wednesday they “were saving their visits for the portal” and now he’s visiting. It’s reactionary.

I shared a screenshot of Mullins’ dad liking a tweet the previous night that said something like “where are the IU coaches tonight?”

Wouldn’t surprise me if that got back to the staff one way or another (especially if guys like Coach Ya are checking tweets from IU fans).

admittedly things like this scare me, but there's no way anyone is going to come out and say, "yeah we're thinking of moving on" at this time of the season.

True, if a journalist asks for a statement that’s really all you can say because if you don’t reply they run with it and say IU had “no comment”. As the saying goes, “silence can be deafening.”

The thing that concerns me is that if Jeff Goodman is writing the piece, he’s likely getting info from his daughter, who also happens to work for Rabby…

Ihave feeling guys like Trilly just likes to troll our fan base. They know we are gullible and want any kind of info we can get. He probably puts this out there and watch our fan base and probably laughs his head off to our reaction. It is just like when people said they saw Donovan in Bloomington and we're following vehicles thinking it was him.

Also if this is true why hasn't any actual basketball media outlets reported any of this.

Really doubt that. Trilly has worked hard to build his name and reputation as a scoops guy and it wouldn’t make sense to damage his own credibility giving out false or misleading info. Also, IU fans are one of his biggest followers/subscribers, so he would be losing money by giving out bad info and turning IU fans off.

The difference is that Tom Allen has a full 7 years to perform, was 2 years removed from his high water season (and one of two where he had a winning record)... One or two more games weren't going to save him...

Like I say, I'm not going to belabor it, but I can't imagine myself rooting for IU or any IU coach or team to fail...

I just don't have that in me...

no worries, it’s not like I don’t understand or respect your perspective. Not expecting everyone to agree with me. I personally think message boards filled with a variety of opinions and perspectives is healthier than everyone enabling the same belief.

Like I said, happy to acknowledge it makes me feel bad and gross saying it. I would much rather prefer knowing that Woody is gone regardless after the season but we finish strong and the players/staff bust ass so Woody can walk out on a high note with this head held high. But based on his recent comments about not going anywhere and those in his corner, I just don’t see that happening.

To be clear, I very much like Mike Woodson the person. Seems like a contagious personality with a good sense of humor and confidence/swagger. Would be fun to have some drinks with and talk basketball and life. Quality family man too who genuinely cares about his staff and players.

Additionally, I have tremendous respect for Woodson leaving his NBA gig to take on a task that was doomed to fail from the start (not his fault). It was a high risk/high reward scenario and it’s admirable that he bet on himself. While it would have been the perfect story for him to return IU to greatness, it unfortunately didn’t happen.

I do want to note I don’t condone a lot of the other actions people have taken. I don’t agree with going to a game to boo players and coaches. If you’re that upset, do something constructive and donate your tickets to a local boys and girls club and give some kids some chance to have fun and grow their IU fandom.

I also don’t respect people heading to social media to voice their frustrations. You can look in another thread and see I screenshotted a long time ago a tweet trill Donovan made about asking IU fans how they felt about Woodson so far. I felt it was cringeworthy and only made matters worse.

I just simply want to move on from Woodson and feel that losing results in the most amicable situation for him and Dolson.
