It has been said many times, but fan support is the only thing currently elite about IU.......

It pains me to say but I’m starting to change my opinion around (originally) supporting this team until the end of the season in hopes it can show the new coach how loyal we are and the home court advantage we have. Pretty clear Woodson will be stubborn and make this as difficult of a firing/retirement as possible moving forward, so not expecting a move made in the offseason.

I fear the only way to force action from Dolson and friends is to speed up the timeline by selling away game tickets, leaving assembly hall empty, not attending neutral site games, and emailing Dolson requesting their NIL donations be returned.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

One thing to consider, and I don't generally like making personnel decisions as a result of what others are doing, but there is a world where we are surrounded by:

    Painter at PU

    Billy Donovan at UL

    Chris Beard at UM

    Nate Oates at OSU

    Brad Underwood at UI

    Calipari at UK

    Izzo at MSU

That would be a tough situation to walk into for a guy like Dusty May in March/April 2025. Again, not saying we need to be reactive to other openings and who they may hire, but I don't think it should be ignored.

As someone wisely pointed out when we hired Woody, he is our version of Juwan Howard and Thad Matta was his Martelli. Let's not follow the folly of Michigan and wait to long to act.

Sounds like Sean Miller is a done deal to Ohio St.

As things stand right now he'd be the 5 and the staff has discussed this possibility

Thanks, (temporary) music to my ears. One day at a time though haha!

Any concern Queen not coming here means Liam is reconsidering? Or more just the hometown hero/staff relationship was the deciding factor.

Bless him...he doesn't see it coming.

Yes, “try” being the operative word. You tried and it didn’t succeed. Not surprising at all when you’ve never coached college basketball…Which is why journalists are politely asking you to retire.

You call yourself a “realist”. How are you here to put this program in “the best position possible” when you yourself say your team only plays well in “spurts”?!

  5. It’s absolutely a mixture of both but a coaching staffs responsibility includes: roster construction, minute allocation and substitution patterns, scouting, style of play, recruiting, practice prep, game film, etc.

Our roster was poorly constructed and our style of play is one dimensional. We’ve been better about it but lost momentum in several games from mass subbing. Our team doesn’t seem to adapt to other teams strategies well. Not sure what we do in practice because we can’t do anything well outside of scoring the basket within 5 feet of the bucket. Our scouting reports evidently suck because we give wide open shots to teams best shooters and always have to climb out of a deficit.

Something that also gets overlooked is the impact a coaching staff has on motivating players and building a culture and identity. I remember a quote from Bob Knight talking about how a player couldn’t jump high enough to touch the back board. Knight put a $10 bill on the back board and told the kid if he hit it, he’d keep it. Of course, first try, he did just that.

It doesn’t look like this team wants to fight and scrap for each other and this staff. That culture is on Woody.

I think it will s time for the fans who are done with Woodson to make their voices heard. Not just on message boards and social media but to the actual decision makers. Like my Political Science Professor said, if you don't vote then you have no right to complain about what is happening. So get out their and join me in emailing the administration and let your voice he heard. I haven't emailed Dolson since the PSU game and probably won't until the season ends.

I’ve never written to an Athletic Director but I will be writing to Dolson at the very least at the end of the BTT.

I do agree that “strength in numbers” is key.
It will eat at Dolson spending his work day and free time writing replies to everyone. Apathy won’t be enough.

I won’t be writing an angry email and hurling insults at him and blaming him for everything. Just want to reach out to be transparent that if we don’t make a change, I will not be buying any game tickets or donating to the university. I know I’m not alone in that feeling. We can’t have both the older generation and new generation of IU alums feeling indifferent towards the program as we head into an expanding Big Ten Conference.

sad thing is it really won't happen.  we may finish under 500 this year and he still won't be fired.

I was told they both deeply love and care for this university and program though.

Talk is cheap. If either ACTUALLY do, they’ll put the best interests of the university over their own. Simple as that. Otherwise, they are just looking out for themselves and their wallets.

  8. Pretty simple at this point. Woody goes or empty Assembly Hall next year and NIL donations dry up.

You got us into this mess Dolson, better figure out a solution quick or best of luck showing your face around Bloomington ever again.

Still am and always will be so don't take my post as a criticism of the staff.....because the sets our staff is running is getting wide open looks and nobody is making a shot. Fischer had to stop himself a couple of times.....wide open shots.

It’s tough to hit wide open shots when you don’t recruit shooters or don’t make it a priority to upgrade your roster in that area during the off-season.

It’s only been one the biggest complaints our fans have had for like 8+ years now.

I usually love black uniforms, but these are just kind of boring

There’s an IU fan on Twitter that makes mock uniforms.

I agree I’m a big fan of alternate unis but would have liked to have seen something a little more elaborate like the ones he made.

Regardless, guys like Liam are hyped over the jerseys and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

Eh, I disagree in a big way. Liam and a portal PG alone isn’t fixing our issues. I’d like to see at least one true PG (1) come in, another CG (1/2) that can play PG and can shoot it, another wing (2/3), and a guy that’s a lengthy rim protector similar to Ware. I know that’s a tremendous ask, but we’re going to need 4-5 guys if we want to be better than this year . Plodding out a portal PG/Cupps, Gallo, MM, Liam, and Reneau won’t cut it. I’ll be truly disappointed and frustrated if that’s our starting five next year.

Oh I completely agree on the evaluation and trying to add those pieces. To clarify, I’m not saying Gallo or Cupps should start lol. I would like to get a proven perimeter scorer at the 2 and would be happy adding Brown Jr or Davis (would still like a proven PG from the portal to start but tbh getting to a point where “beggars can’t be choosers” with only 1 kid signed for next year). I personally think MR/MM/LM/Portal SG/ Brown Jr or Davis starting could compete for a conference title.

Best of luck with our staff grabbing all those portal pieces though lmao. They have little to no film for guards to get excited about. I can’t really see them landing 5+ impact players unless a couple of them are high school decommits or mid major guys looking for money and exposure. This isn’t a Duke or Kansas where you can sell a kid on being patient and learn/develop for a season and then be given a chance to start and shine.

People don’t have to gauge things with Banks and Gunn. They’re almost certainly leaving. Reneau is who was being reached out to but I don’t think things went too far. It’s sounding like MM could be back. I still believe Galloway is back as well.

Thanks! Yea I automatically assume anyone that isn’t cracking the top 7-8 in a rotation wants to go elsewhere.

As it stands, do you think Reneau stays? At least on the surface it looks Liam is. Very surprised but happy to hear about Mac. Chris on BTB said his family wants him to go pro next year regardless of draft status. A front court of Queen, Reneau, Mac, and Liam sounds really good! Keep Gallo, add maybe one of Davis or Brown Jr and I think you wouldn’t need to add a ton of extra pieces in the portal (assuming guys like Newton, Cupps, Sparks, and Leal want to stay as depth pieces).

There was a rumor of teams reaching out to people around a notable player at IU. That said it wasn’t the player being talked about on BTB and it definitely didn’t involve Purdue. Purdue only has one open scholarship for next year right now and they’re being very selective with a large class already coming in.

Maybe it’s just me but whether your Banks/Gunn or Reneau/Mac, it doesn’t surprise me to hear other teams reaching out to gauge interests mid season.

Feels like nowadays the standard isn’t about being the first to talk to a guy once he enters the portal, it’s now about getting them to verbally commit to you before they even formally enter.

Just feels different currently because the season has been so bad and we have little to no confidence our key guys will stick around.
