My exact thoughts. Something is up with this team and it sucks to watch

Idk if anyone else saw but with like 15 minutes left in the second half, the camera cut to Ware and 3 other guys on the bench were giggling about something.

Not sure what’s so amusing about getting your ass kicked…

Keep on shooting those long 2’s boys. SMH

Between our fans and literally every single commentator I listen to call our games seeing it, idk why our players and staff don’t see the pure insanity in it.

  3. I’ll just say it, I don’t see how Queen fits in with either Maryland or IU. Both teams returning Power Forwards score most of their points in the paint and will clog the lane for him (Reneau, Reese). From highlight videos, Queen doesn’t seem like an immediate stretch 5. Both teams will need to drastically improve their guard play as their freshman and bench aren’t producing at all. Would need to wait until the summer to have more clarity if either team upgraded.

If he wasn’t a 5 star, from Montverde, and close friends with Liam, I probably wouldn’t want our staff to land him. He’s a great player but I would rather move Reneau to the 5 and have Mac come back and play the 4.

My opinion would change if I knew for a fact Queen would be willing to split time with Reneau at the 5 spot.

  4. If Wisco didn’t lose last game I think we’d have a chance.

My gut says IU comes out and plays hard early, but only shows “quality basketball” for like 10-20 of the 40 minutes. Purdue showed last game how easy it is to beat us- double either Ware or Reneau and force our guards to beat them. Gallo only plays well at home and X has been bi-polar this year. We either take bad shots or are incapable of making easy ones.

Only way I see us winning is if we win the rebound, foul, and turnover battle and Wisco has an off shooting night.

Archie checked nearly all of the boxes for a young coach, except for one: winning at a big time program. He failed miserably at that. Every elite coach at one point was an up and comer, I get that. But for every elite basketball coach who wins at the highest level, there's a hundred failed up and comers who never make it at the top level. It's a risk every single time you go this hiring route.

If you had to bet on someone succeeding at IU in the next 5 years who would you put your money on (or in the AD;'s case your job): Dusty May or somebody like Bruce Pearl/Chris Beard? That needs to be the only approach going forward.

Totally agree. If we hire a proven coach and he fails then we’re just cursed and should leave the Big Ten lol. Archie and Woody were high risk/high reward scenarios. Give me low risk/high reward. I think we can hire a proven coach because the SEC and Big Ten are deep moving forward and with the transfer portal and our NIL $, a good coach can come in and turn it around quickly.

I made a list of coaches I thought IU could go after post Kansas game because I’m a masochist lol. I’ve said before I don’t think you can get rid of Woody this year because he did some impressive things last year and I don’t think letting him go after 3 years will help land who we would want with that short of a leash. But if I were Dolson, I’m making a list, getting a feeler out there with alums about how they feel about Woody currently and trying to gain a sense of who people would be into as a replacement so when the time comes, everyone is on the same page.

He nailed the football hire it looks like. I'd like to see him make a basketball hire without the BoT intervening and Whitten as  President instead of McRobbie.

Maybe, Coach Cig hasn’t coached a single game yet haha. Didn’t some people think Archie Miller was a “home run” too? Also, not sure if it was him or Glass but they went full moron and gave Tom Allen a big raise or extension after the Covid year. I know Dolson went full moron recently by giving Woody an extra million each year.

Going to continue to be the laughing stock of the (expanding) Big Ten with reckless decision making like that.

“If Indiana calls he’s going” - Trilly Donovan on Dusty May.. FYI

I’m sure he would but as much as I like Dusty May, im sure plenty of us wouldn’t be excited if he didn’t have that connection to IU and Knight.

IMO, we need a proven P5 coach and not another experiment/risk (ex-Archie, Woody). I think IU could land one, but Dolson being our AD gives me little to no hope he’s capable of accomplishing that.

IU basketball feels on life support tbh.

  8. Giving it until the end of the month but if this is how they play then I will for the first time ever stop sitting down to watch games. Exhausted from all the extreme highs and lows with this program.

You can’t get 20 pieced at home to your rival in a do or die game.

It’s one thing to lose, it’s another thing to watch a lifeless JV team get DOMINATED regularly against any decent team.

i can’t think of another school that has more fandom, resources, NIL $ at their disposal and puts out such a shit product. We objectively deserve better.

We’ve had some good games…just can’t string them together. Kansas, Ohio St, a few others…just not consistent from our guards.

Kansas we lost, Ohio St isn’t ranked and may not make the tournament. Wins against bubble teams like Maryland, Michigan, and Minnesota don’t move the needle. Barely beat Louisville and Morehead St. Squeaked by a handful of mid majors.

    NIT resume.

  10. Played hard when it was too little too late. Yes it’s a rivalry and the refs should have swallowed their whistles on some calls but we’re getting exposed for our lack of rebounding, perimeter scoring, and overall basketball IQ.
