  1. Texas is a big money maker with the brand in there region and being football crazy. But, you get a UCLA/USC those are global brands. UCLA might not pack the stands and LA might not be UCLA Crazy, but globally they are huge. The BigTen and Pac has always had a relationship and now it is time maybe to merge. The tv dollars will pay for the travel expenses.
  2. Does anyone know what Warren is known for? Delany was cutting edge and always wanted to be infront leader. I don't know much about Warren and his past work, so just wondering? Can he be behind the scenes creating a mega big ten that would make the SEC/ESPN look up to BigTen/Foxsports game?
  3. Through a casual discussion, a neighbor said he saw on twitter a rumor that Fox sports is pushing Colorado, UCLA, USC and one other I can't rember to the Big10. Now that would be a power play over the SEC. Personally, I love locking down the middle strip of the country and brand the heck out of it. TV dollars will be huge! Get Kansas, Pittsburgh, Missouri. Delany really wanted UNC and there were rumblings back in the day. Now, Notre Dame.....could a new commissioner make that happen. ND was listening for all sports except football, but now who knows where they are with the independent thing. Now only in UofChicago can bring back D1.
  4. He has mentioned that he wanted past jobs, but couldn't get out of contacts. It was a big deal what the Knicks did for him.
  5. Agree. Mike Woodson is a special coach and person.
  6. Kids know the NBA. They do. They study and want to be it. The Knicks are cool, the old Hawks were as well. IU fans, or more specifically those who post on boards..know Indiana kids, and have favorites based on that. There is an emotional attachment to it. It's the movie Hoosiers. Here in Chicago, when I asked, kids knew who Mike Woodson was.
  7. So far recruits being recruited and those who have committed all commented about how everyone knows Mike Woodson. Today, Durr said, "And, coach Woodson, obviously evernody knows about him." Bates and others had similar responses. Got to bring it up as some debated when I brought up kids know who he is. Mike Woodson is going to be a rock star at IU. Hopefully, fans are buying in, because IU is trending upward.
  8. Good tidbit - got to live the culture you want. That and the desire to get someone that will change shots at the rim. Timing and attitude is everything.
  9. Keith Smart would of been great. But, this staff is excellent- everthing is checked based on experience, expertise and recruiting.
  10. Good list- some underappreciated pgs, but maybe not on that list, Strickland, Calloway, Jim Thomas. Can't forget Coverdale as that was the last to lead a final 4 team.
  11. Have a feeling IU has found some help in that area in the past few weeks, and have a feeling that a green light of confidence will improve the over thinking of some of our able shooters. And, have a feeling we will be getting a bunch more - scholarships given out is proving that. There is no doubt this staff wants to shoot the three and they also want to play fast and furious. They are going after their players. Hope the best for the kid, any kid, got to think this staff is connected and talented. There system is going to be different and fun.
  12. I get this player is a fan favorite. But, Roberts goes to Cincinnati- doesn't sound like they offered. Fife has been recruiting midwest, doesn't look like MSU or when he went to IU offered. Am I missing something? IU has passed out some scholarship offers in the last few weeks. Some pg they are going after are jet fast. We have a stable of guards, solidified within the past few weeks. What am I missing, except he is a fan favorite? Asking, not knowing. And, I trust the evaluation of the entire staff.
  13. Good stuff! My mind wonders if there will be more movement with some of the admin roles that carried over. Would be interesting to see if they fill this role and with who.
  14. It's the choice of the player there, especially under IU's code. But, either you compete for your share or you find somewhere else that would provide it for you.
  15. Totally agree! Imagine some of the athletes who can play basketball would do? We are seeing it a Baylor, Michigan, etc. Just naming two. Cause havoc on D and be lightning on O.
  16. Here what you are saying, but I would make the argument that IU has not gotten the most athletic kids. Trayce is the exception. Even Romeo was dubbed as a can't miss prospect, but not an elite athlete. Coach Miller went after athletes, many didn't come, probably because of style, etc.
  17. Brooks is an interesting kid, from looking outside the kid wanted to be a hoosier. Dad, had other thoughts and tidbits suggest Shilling didn't help much there. Second chance? New life brings a new game - not saying dame player but look at past UK transfers that took off at Michigan, UCLA and others. Those two programs are not one ball one player programs. Brooks can bring a new dynamic on Defense. And, I would bet roster movement doesn't end there. Possible scholarship to walk-on? Possible graduation? Possible transfer? New demands, new style and a world portal for recruiting has opened up. Competition changes perspectives.
  18. Interesting. I do know Knight shifted his thinking and started to emphasize the weight room a little more.
  19. Never got into it myself, but I bet my calfs would of been EVEN better - ha. Great for the coordination and probably vertical. I did wear those shoes that elevated your heals off the ground while doing plyometric work.
  20. Totally confused. I enjoy any insight into the program. And, lifting is cool and they do a nice job. Do you think they are going to post content that can get scouted? Do you think they will post shooting form corrections so you can then turn around and post negative feedback on it where players read it? Injury? Every team battles injuries, some coaches have players play through, some do not. Injuries happen everywhere. MJ had the best trainer in the world and he was injured. Come down weird on an ankle, nothing is going to prevent that. Back injuries that linger from HS, only surgery corrects it. Coach Cliff is legit and his program is created along with the Head Coach. He is about relationships first, followed by nutrition and building lean muscle. He isn't going to make athletes twice as fast - recruiting will do that. Also love the yoga - many championship teams have done yoga, ballet, etc - fun, sound for the mind and works the body. Oh, and might help with flexibility preventing less injury.
  21. As you said, he was a good player and he did a lot of little things on the court. Coach Woodson watched a ton of film on him and sees someone that is going to help. NW had an interesting team last year and Miller is going to benifit by the new style and the athleticism around him. With that being said, he is a good athlete who is getting better. Hope he is going to surprise some.
  22. This video has to get you excited: Big Te
