  1. Here is a quote from his dad: “We did our homework on him (Bell), so we wanted to know, has he seen my son play, what were his thoughts, how he thought he would use my son, what were his plans to develop (Donaven) McCulley, and probably most importantly my son wanted to get to know him and try to build a relationship with him,” Cooper, Sr. said.
  2. I totally understand a kid staying home and with a team that is at the same level. RT did great things for IU. The kid gave up playing time and development his first year to be the backup qb. He has been moved around on both sides of the ball. Looks like he will have to compete next year for playing time, a good problem to have if you are IU. For him, playing time is probably a priority and maybe more opportunity to run in the punt return game. My thoughts without knowing the inside details.
  3. I will also add, he won in the personality game. Night and day from past press conferences. Can see where he can be a positive recruiter. Said the correct statements, and was honest.
  4. For one thing, the chip on the shoulders should be back and the grind to prove everyone wrong. Allen is still a young head coach and he is first and foremost a motivator, one of the best. He never had to motivate when the target was reversed. Hope their is growth their and with the players.
  5. It was said many times Carpenter was injured on and off and missed most of spring? Don't hold this as fact, but I remeber it being mentioned by staff or announcers at some point.
  6. What a fantastic addition! Congrats coaching staff, team, fans and Shivers. I'm not sure we have has back like this in a long time. Can change the game directional. Cross between Coleman and Howard? Exciting!!!! Already, the offense got better. This kid can cut the corner, spread the field and break through tackles.
  7. This purdue rutugers game gives me perspective, especially the last five minutes. On the road, B1G. We all know Painter can coach, this display reminds me of yesterday.
  8. I'm sure when they watch the tape, they will see opposite sides to energy and effort. What can be done and what can't be done. My hope is that this is all part of the plan, to let them learn how to play and play through adversity. Just wish is was a one point win. This is what happens when you have a cupcake schedule, when you get a team that will play aggressive, and try and out muscle, you are not prepared to go 40min. Not sure what could of been different coaching, besides, maybe getting Miller back in there. The best players were on the floor. Maybe run more sets? Or, work the refs more.... Hopefully in the future, a better schedule would be together to prepare for a game like this. Wisconsin is not going to get fatigued, they get stronger.
  9. He needs a pg that can push and slow it down. Hope this pg's grow. Wish they didn't pump the brakes down the stretch, their stenght is to control tempo. 2nd half, way to many rebounds ripped out of IU's hands. It was effort.
  10. My son took the curry masterclass, fun class online. He talks about what it took going from a two hand shooter to a one hand. Because of coaching and self determination that transition, which was at a latter duration than many elite shooters helped him out.
  11. One thing to note - he has been a OC and one stop was at a pressure cooker. Being a HC at Umass, recored aside, should of taught him the executive side to football. IU needs a HC of the offense, not just a OC. Got to think there will be a co-oc and a clear vision for what needs to be done. I vaguely remember the Maryland teams and some big plays against IU. Then again, there were many against the D, then. Never watched FSU.
  12. Reading this article, sounds like a good hire: https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/report-iu-football-to-hire-walt-bell-as-next-offensive-coordinator/
  13. Impressive resume and past opportunities and still only 37 years old.
  14. Some would say this is old thinking. We are in the startup world, etc. I know if you have a skill or creativity you can go from job to job. Now, industry is hiring for specific projects only.
  15. Penix gave this fan some of my best IU football memories. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. Is it testing the water until OC? Is he going to follow Sheridan somewhere? Does he just want a chance to play somewhere and IU looking towards the future? I wonder what the communication was and currently is? Has IU reached out to any QB's on the market?
  16. If they didn't want to build new, I wonder why they didn't turn the balcony into suits and relocate the seating to go behind each basket. They could of extended the building. The first few rows of the balcony are not bad seats. When I took Bob Knights Coaching Basketball class, we analyzed a practice from those seats. We were able to see all 10 players and court at one time from a schematic viewpoint.
  17. For sure, I was an undergrad during the Guyton, Lynn Washington era. Balcony would fill up for big ten games, professors would cancel cancel so students can go.
  18. Stinks, not sure with the covid year, etc...how this all will pan out.
  19. My curiosity is going to ask, will the balcony ever fully be filled consistently again? With generation z and beyond able to stream anything and have augmented experiences- was not creating better seating views going to hurt in long run? The athletic budget would be a lot different with a 25,000 + capacity then 17,000+.
  20. Assembly Hall has always been a special place to me. Listening to Fred Glass interviews, he is very proud of preserving it. He consistently states that the board agrees to replace it. Watching post pandemic games, the balcony is hardly filled - horrible site lines. Was it a good decision to keep it? It has the 20th best seating capacity, I always thought it was in the top 10. Wondering opinions.....
