  1. This is very true. The future can still be bright for both players. Right now the experts that makeup the basketball staff feel Rob gives them a better chance in games. I'm sure the captains are also providing input.
  2. Wow - no call for Nebraska at the rim to win the game. Wrist was slapped down. Thought it was fitting here.
  3. Not sure about this. I didn't see Rayce and Trayce on the perimeter last night. Out of the last 70 some points Trayce has scored ...how many of them are from the wing position? They broke the zone, scored against it. There wasn't anything that didn't work. Silly turnovers from playing scared in 1st half.
  4. Ha! That is what happens when you are walking with coffee in one hand, thinking about meetings all day and getting ready to get into a vehicle. The first 20 minutes, the entire team didn't hound their guards. I was surprised how they played off of them, in help. Always pictured the defense getting more in passing lanes and not leaving much daylight between them and who they are guarding. For the most part, the second 20 minutes they adjusted, had more intensity and made the 3 ball more difficult. Some of this broke down with fatigue and the bench not being able to play with composure as they will in the future. Got to run (me)...
  5. For the first time you can see hesitation in Bates, especially after the block at 3. Thompson, warrior; however he panicked with the ball in the middle. Made a ton of good plays, but he is doing more with the ball then ever before. Tale of 2 halfs. Still don't understand the less pressure at the perimeter a D the 1st half. Hopefully once they watch tape they can see all errors and style of play are correctable.
  6. For sure - there was broken down coverage. It was more IU missing assignments then SU breaking it. From my perspective
  7. I think these kids are use to everything be scripted and practiced 100 times before playing. Woody os an NBA guy - get use to a drawn up play and process quickly and execute. Not saying they don't practice plays. Going off the press conference.
  8. Hey, totally see your side. To me, it hurried them up with a questionable extra step not called at center court. I always play on the side the more aggressive team wins. We could of taken it to the rim a few times and instead passed it up to setup the offensive. My mind was like.....why not bring in fresh legs at somepoint in the ot with Jordan and others and get SU fatigue to make some mistakes. That's why you play power5 teams, especially on the road, early in the season so you can have an honest assessment on the team and what they can do or can't do YET.
  9. Different strategies work. They had Trayce in centerfield and protecting the rim aginst a guard going up. The foul was on Lander from behind (which I didn't see at first). If that foul, which was a non necessary one, play works. The first trap could of also been a little tighter. They will learn. I liked the play, try to get a turnover, score and go home.
  10. Looking at stats - only two categories IU was worse in. Turnovers and Free Throws. Clean those up and different game. Got to think now the TO piece is going to be even more of an emphasis.
  11. Woodson said that play wasn't on Lander. It was everyone else. Same play they ran to get Miller that open 3. Team didn't execute.
  12. Why IU is good hands. All answers authentic: Woodson post game:
  13. Stewart's confidence grew as the game went on. First half he looked a step slow, second half he was all over on both ends of the floor. If he can play with the same instinct, this team can take it to another level.
  14. On the road, during a hyped challenge and two programs with deep history going after each other. Two of those kids wearing orange probably have heard about that final game years ago their entire life - ha!
  15. Yes - And, some of the missed FT, although, much improved. Have to get some help from bench to spell Thompson. Not sure if some of the TO towards end when they cleaned up offense was do to fatigue.
  16. I bet when the team watches the tape they are not going to beleive some of the turnovers. Race was a warrior out there - he struggled when doubled and had to pass out. If only they played some of that 2nd half D when they had fresh legs.
  17. I liked it. Looked like a travel at half court. Fadeaway layup being called a foul at the end when big goes straight up. Didn't see, what the thompson thing where he got hit in the head.
  18. In hindsight- he was there two years ago. After seeing the Washington hire, we had a special OC three years ago and his recommendation of Sheridan had value. Can't look back, just move forward. I have a feeling there is a plan and hopefully it has been in the works for awhile. Coach Allen is a leader and understands the situation and what he needs to do. Got to get out there and recruit.
  19. The positive is that he has been around numerous head coaches and OC's that have a terrific reputation and have learned from them. And, he is a recruiter.
  20. Furthermore, sarcasm from players should be navigated in many ways. I doubt players are going around telling others that they are not doing their work. Now, I wasn’t there so I have no idea how the conversation occured. If anything, I can see them joking around about it, which kids do. Hey, got to give the kids credit for having common sense to get a ride instead of possibly driving themselves. Players from all sports have been known to go out after losses. Pros and college - well documented. And, even the Coach Knight players had their nights out after tough games. The kids are not on lock down and they know they will be back at it at 5am.
  21. There was a reason they rushed Penix back who was not fully recovered physically and mentally. He was the only chance with the OL and had thr only capability to make a big throw. When our ONLY speed guy went down that also handicapped the offense. Need tp recruit and have someone that can bring in talent. First thing Wilson did, hire an OC that brought a qb. We need someone that can possibly bring some OL with them and speed at WR. I have no idea if Dexter can be a legit qb. Or if Penix can be back with more recovery time, or if Donovan can take a jump or if the texas qb recruit can step in from day one. Regardless, bring in someone that can recruit and recruit fast.
  22. He has experience, is known as a good recruiter and is an OL coach. I of course always like to see former Hoosiers back on the sideline. Especially ones who have the experience and in his case he played and started many games for IU.
  23. Good question. My favorite is a former hoosier captain Justin Frye. No idea if he is interested. I'm sure there are going to plenty of in-demand coaches out there.
  24. Per twitter, Allen taking a $200,000 a year deduction throughout his contract, I think. It is speculated that this is to help pay the remaining $700,000 to Sheridan. All assisants signed a two year contract last season. Interesting- does this mean this will be the only change forced? Some coaches might move naturally. Will there be so reassignments? Probably have to wait for the new hire. Personally I thought it would be a package change with the OL based on results the past two years. This is the first step towards moving forward. Coach Allen is a leader and needs a reset. A ton to learn from this year. Hoping some of the talented receuiting classes with speed take a leap forward in the offseason, etc.
