  1. I don't know about "high" expectations. I think the expectation has been to make the tournament and finish in top half of Big Ten. That isn't high to me. Why did people feel that way? Well, we had a combined 10 years of experience in the back court and 3 5* players in the front court. Honestly, if anything, our expectations were a little muted given we had an idea that our 10 years of experience could be streaky but the team failed to meet even those muted expectations. I don't think there is a team in the BIG doing less with more than Indiana. One 5* guy for some of the teams above us would be considered an abundance of riches. We start 3.
  2. Because the year is already over so the losses don't matter and we all know Woodson is going to be here again next year. This game in the past would have made me mad, now it is like "whatever". Winning would have been the surprise.
  3. I don't think I can celebrate this moral victory.
  4. We beat them 3 in a row before this. They weren't yapping then.
  5. I know Woodson is going to get another year but man, I am already over this.
  6. And a foul parade follows. They have been letting Illinois do that the whole game. Protect. Your. Dudes. Woodson.
  7. After that tech on X at the half, I would lose my sh** that was a no call. Woodson hasn't done a thing to protect his guys from the zebras in 2.5 years.
  8. Grabbed by head and thrown down. Looks like a flagrant to me...
  9. That's bull sh**. Woodson needs to stand up for his guys better than he does. Dudes flip the ball back to the guy out of bounds all the time and Hawkins is a whiny b*tch every time we play them.
  10. He is following a less accomplished path parallel to Coach Knight. I think at a certain point that some of these guys reach a certain age and still want to compete but they don't want or like dealing with kissing 18-22 year old butt as much as they have to. It becomes harder and harder to connect.
  11. I think it has hit the ceiling with this iteration of Woodson's plan. He needs to change things up, if he can do that then there is potentially room for more.
  12. Yeah, what do Izzo and Painter know about winning in the Big Ten.... Sisley is the type of kid who if he goes to another Big Ten school will absolutely steal our lunch and we'll sit back and wonder how the f that guy got away.
  13. I am strictly talking recruiting. The two assistants, when was the last time we landed anybody they were the lead recruiters on. In Woodson's case it is reading tea leaves like the recent interview with Sisley where he indicated Painter and Izzo had been seeing him regularly and Woodson just recently started to get more involved while Walsh had been the main contact. Walsh was the main guy on our so far only 2024 recruit. He was the main guy on Cupps. Newton may be the only guy we targeted that he didn't pull in out of the last few high school classes. (Mgbako's Mom recruited him) In a results based business, Rosemond and Hunter in particular don't appear to be adding much value. They reportedly are here to mostly recruit and going into January 2024 with at least a 4 man class coming up and an unused scholarship from last year and only having 1 spot filled looks pretty garbage to me.
  14. I prepared for that eventuality a few games ago. The season is effectively over for anything we care about from a post season or accomplishment perspective. Only thing team is likely playing for at this point is pride and that isn't the type of thing I think is going to move the needle much.
  15. Including you. You have called for Woodson's head several times this year.
  16. Walsh does all the recruiting work. The other 3 (Woodson, Hunter, Rosemond) sit on their *** and collect a check. I would keep Walsh if I were the next coach. Hunter and Rosemond would get fired at the press conference.
  17. None of the other fan bases that compare to Indiana are in as big of a rut as we are now. Louisville might be the closest. What does their Twitter look like? Kentucky people would be apoplectic about the state of their program if they had suffered through our past two decades. Same with North Carolina and Kansas. Look at Ohio State in football. Two really good years where they didn't beat a rival or make the college playoffs and they are already howling. Indiana fans were too patient back in the early 2000's. We should have gone crazy and ran a whole bunch of people out of the University but we kind of sat back and waited thinking things would right themselves. They won't. All of the built in benefits of a program like Indiana are an advantage only if being properly directed. It is a rudderless program and has been for awhile.
  18. That kind of fan support is a blessing when things are going well and a curse when it isn't. In basketball we are like 1980's and 90's and early 2000's Alabama. Just kind of mediocre for the most part. They had their title in 1992 and we had a run in 2001. Other than that, they were kind of meh from 1980 to 2009. Sure there were seasons here and there that were good but nothing huge to write home about. Then they got their guy and things took off. That is Indiana. This place is hard to coach at if you are just kind of mediocre. People want to win. The fan support is awesome if people feel like things are progressing forward. When things start to turn south though, the patience isn't there. I think as a coach you have to embrace that reality. You cannot go into a bunker here and you cannot look like you are treating this like a hobby. If you aren't winning, you have to be as honest as you can be with why. "My guys aren't getting it..." OK, so what are you doing about that? If things are going well though, this place is magical. There are few that can compare.
  19. We are going to be upset if he piddles away the in state 2025 class....
  20. All of this. I think at least Hunter needs to go (who was the last guy he was the lead recruiter for that we actually got?) and I would almost send Rosemond packing as well. Walsh has been the main recruiter for the majority of the guys we have actually landed lately. Mgbako fell in our lap. Not sure who was on Ware. However, it was my understanding that Hulls was the person identifying who we should be talking to in the portal last year (he didn't do the talking though). Woodson will be here next year. I am 100% convinced of that. I still don't think he is the solution but he can be the bridge still. We need him to put together 1-3 more good years after this and then step aside. I think in order to do that, he is going to have to shake up his staff and bring in some assistants who actually coach to the college game. At least 1 of the 3 assistants he has now has to go IMO.
  21. Rivalry games can lead to strange results. Iowa lost today so being in a tie for first is a pretty good place to be when they have to come play us in Bloomington still. We have to travel to Ohio State still but they have to play at Iowa too.
  22. Disagree. He wouldn't be my first choice but if you were going to pick the most "ready" IU guy, he would have been it. "But, but, but he is an a-hole and failed at the last big programs he was at." We would all kill for his "failure" at UCLA right now. He had a .663 winning percentage and went to 3 Sweet 16's in 5 years. He has proven more as a Coach than Mike Woodson. Come on. People just don't like him because of the arrogance thing but I bet he would have done better than Woodson. I don't think we had to hire an Indiana guy, but if we did, he was a better choice.
