I don't look at it as "success" so much as it is a building block. Our reputation has taken a severe beating the past 10 years. It is why a 20 win Indiana team barely squeaked into the tournament while a 17 win Michigan team was solidly in. I am here to tell you that if you reverses those records and schedules, there would not have been excuses made about strength of schedule. We would have been on the outside looking in. "Yeah, you had a strong schedule but you have to actually win those games..." Michigan is in this year because of what they have done over the past 10. In order to start changing that narrative, you HAVE to make the tournament. So I think doing that is holding serve. Success would have been handling a little more business over the course of the year and winning more of those close games. Success in the tournament to me would be at least round of 32 but maybe a Sweet 16 appearance at this point. We have to sell our future right now. "I took a program that missed 5 tournaments in a row to the Big Dance in year one. I did that even though we had some deficiencies on the roster." We aren't winning a title this year, but this year can be a foundation to a title down the road.

Bet a potential second (third in our case) round matchup with UCLA was on their mind though...

A little conspiracy theorizing, I don't know if there are any B10 people in the committee, but I think a guy like Barta did us no favors when having these national discussions in football. I don't believe this conference really has our back.

Me too. However, we handle business like we should and we could be in the second weekend. Wyoming and St. Mary's are not world beaters and I think the Pac 10 is soft as hell. So let's go make some noise. Dayton should be red this week.

The Big Ten is going to struggle in the tournament I think. I know people are all on Iowa's jock at the moment but planning to outscore everyone in the tournament is usually a bad plan. There are a bunch of good teams in the conference but no one appears really great IMO.

That a BS reason. Seriously, that hot head doing that and walking over to the wrong huddle is going to start a fight. He had no reason to be over in the area of the Indiana huddle "advocating" for anything. He needs to keep his crazy a$$ on his side of the court.

He was in the IU huddle basically. Fran is a clown. It should have been a T, I have seen guys get one for far, far less. He deserved it for going into the outskirts of the IU huddle.

I am pissed so going to just do one post for now because some good stuff happened this week. Only thing I will say is that 1 of 2 things need to happen this summer (or both). Our 1-3 guys HAVE to put up shots, lots of shots, from behind the arc so they are capable of hitting WIDE open 3's and/or we need to go find someone who can. We win this comfortably if we hit half the wide open 3 looks we had in this game. Not even going to name names. I put it on every guard and small forward on the team. It was the difference in the game. It has been the difference in several games this year.

How many times are we going to get beat in this tourney over the years by shit like that.

No matter what happens today, the team changed the narrative on the season this week. We should be in NCAA's and now we really have some momentum to start selling recruits. Edit to add: And it doesn't take 4 years to show a pulse if you have a decent coach in charge of the program. Archie just sucked.

Since I am high on winning right now, could the argument be made, as it has in the past for other teams, that a fully healthy Indiana is greater than their record and that the loss of Phin and Galloway at key times in the season led to a record that is not indicative of the team's actual ability?

How can you not like that guy? He gets a little crazy sometimes but I'd go to war with him.
