  1. They would’ve been better playing 1/2 their games at GABP but it’s still a gamble with aging players . Winker has also always been a very expensive platoon player who’s not very good defensively.
  2. I’m just stating facts. The roster was flawed.
  3. The Reds made the right decision to start the rebuild they weren’t winning a championship with that roster as it was constructed. To many flaws.
  4. Nearly every player the Reds have traded since around 2015 has seen a decline since the Reds moved on. There have been a couple exceptions but that’s about it
  5. Kind of. All of those players the Reds signed to extensions under Castellini’s ownership. This narrative that the Reds ownership doesn’t give extensions is wrong. They’ve likely learned from past mistakes that turned into bad contracts as players aged.
  6. Can someone tell me what these following players have in common? 1 Joey Votto 2 Homer Bailey 3 Tucker Barnhart 4 Eugenio Suarez 5 Jay Bruce 6 Brandon Phillips
  7. To many of those people just like being mad and have no clue how winning teams are built in Major League Baseball unless it’s the Dodgers or Yankees signing big contracts.
  8. I would say that Yankees have taken a big step back in doing that under Cashman. He rarely is aggressive is trades to improve the teams holes they have at the deadline. Which is why they’ve underachieved in the postseason in recent years. He is aggressive in free agency however.
  9. I agree on the Cubs. I was just stating that this is how a good rebuild should be done. Unlike what the Reds did with their previous rebuild attempt under Walt Jocketty.
  10. This is what rebuilding teams do that’s have had success. Astros and Cubs under Theo to name a couple. Load up on prospects. Decide which ones to build around and then trade the others to fill other holes. All of this while trying to maintain a strong farm system. It appears Krall actually has a plan.
  11. Maybe they’ve worked out the kinks then but early on it was ugly.
  12. I know this. I’m just stating that not every umpire adjusts the same way and the robo umps that have been tested with haven’t either.
  13. The robo ump is a regular ump. Who gets told if a pitch is a ball or strike based on some kind of stat cast type system
  14. They’re frustrating but missed calls are part of the game. Even the robo umps that have experimented with in the minors have had bad strike calls. Partially because the strike zone changes with every hitter. Even the boxes they put on tv aren’t always accurate which doesn’t help umpires.
  15. I can see why moving him would be beneficial. I just don’t know if the Reds will do it. Especially if he’s adamant he doesn’t want to do it.
  16. The finger and clavicle were fluky. The concussions are a concern but he’s made a change to his mask to help prevent that from happening again.
  17. Stephenson isn’t moving. He’s going to stick at catcher. He doesn’t want to move and it would cost him financially going forward and he has put in way to much time at catcher to give up on it because of a couple fluke injuries. He has a chance to be a top 5 catcher. If he moves to first base then he’s likely an average first baseman. They need to find a better second catcher but moving Stephenson to another position full time isn’t happening regardless of what many fans want.
  18. No they shouldn’t have. He hasn’t been good this year and is making 7.5 million. He can catch defensively but so can the guys the Reds have right now.
  19. Bob Kravitz said today that the Pacers and Lakers talks have died down again. If the Lakers decide to add a second first round pick then the deal would likely get done.
  20. He’s 21. He’s shown flashes and with his wingspan could develop into a good wing defender. He also played at Iowa State with Haliburton. He’s got upside to try and develop this year when you aren’t looking to compete.
  21. It had been reported around the draft that if the Lakers make a deal with the Pacers for Hield then they would be moving on from Kyrie.
  22. Westbrook would likely get bought out. He’d never play a game in a Pacer uniform.
  23. The reality is any deal would include a couple of picks and Horton Tucker. I get the picks are future picks but they still give them assets they could use in future deals. The more assets a team has the better.
  24. The more high quality prospects they have ranging from ages 17-24 can allow for longer sustained success. The Astros, Rays, and Dodgers are teams that have used their deep farm systems to build the teams the have and sustain the success they’ve had. They’ve used their systems in different ways to get where their at but it all started the same. A deep farm system with young talented players. This is especially important for an organization like the Reds.
