  1. This guy is all competence. It's not just how he presents himself; it's the content of what he is saying, what he is looking for, what he demands, what he focuses on. The proof will be in the pudding but I think his approach is 100% right for us.
  2. For those who like to speak in certainties, that’s not how the world works. You can talk about probabilities and not certainties. Everyone here should understand that.
  3. Knight probably wouldn't even have had X on the team. But if he did, he'd put him at the end of the bench to (a) send a message and (b) test his mettle. You'd come out with Leal and Sparks in the lineup if they are hustling, blocking out, etc., in practice. That gets results. The starters need to have demands that they must meet. Not options, demands.
  4. One team is incredibly sound, smart and tough. The other as a whole isn't. What do we think is going to happen? (rhetorical)
  5. I have zero problem with Archie or Woody or any IU coach feeling the heat in this job. The fan base can cascade down on you but only if its warranted. You will get the greatest support in the history of sports but if you have a team that doesn't move the ball, doesn't block out, doesn't hustle after loose balls, you should feel the glare. CCC says he is fighting complacency or softness even before you get to complacency. That's the mentality I like. As Robert Palmer once said, "feel the heat."
  6. Ball movement has been really bad even when we win....We have some black holes that make up their mind that they want to shoot. Dusty would fix that.... https://apnews.com/article/bob-knight-indiana-motion-offense-6df9d9c3668990c002f89a4a60df13e9
  7. This should be looked at. It’s hard for fans to know the inner workings of the staff. But the collective play tells you a lot. There is probably redundancy on the staff. Also I wonder how much Wittmann is engaged this year. I think last year he got involved from and X’s and O’s standpoint and helped with solutions. You have to have questions about the staff. They are paid a lot of money to produce. Upper six figures.
  8. These stats are sickening. Not much else you need to know about last night. You have a liability like that and how do you win?
  9. You can’t get better unless you confront your mistakes.
  10. It’s our guards. They aren’t good. We can stomp our feet all we want but nothing will make them good. I like the guys individually but collectively they aren’t good enough. If a Bailey or Edwards or Alford was in there, then others would look better than they are. X would be addition by subtraction. This is not a problem this year only. Phinisee. Devonte. Durham. X. On and on. The one solid year we’ve had in the last several, we had JHS. Again, it doesn't matter if we like each of these guys one by one, as a group our guards have not been good enough and it puts a ceiling on us. If you have really good college guard, you aren’t getting spanked by a lowly Rutgers squad. You are not getting your ass handed to you at home by Purdue etc. Lance Jones. Domask, the kid Illinois got. Michigan State gets guys from lower levels. There are ton of mid major kids who stepped up to this level. Indiana State is 15-3 and way ahead of us according to all the metrics. They have two in-state guards who are filling it up from 3 and they are fifth in the nation from 3. There is absolutely no way it’s justified to turn your nose up at guys like that because it was Dalton Knecht or bust. Supposedly they learned their lesson and we will get an influx this year. I like Newton and Gunn but this is a collective issue. They aren’t shooters. We need SNIPERS and guards who can carry the load. Look at X’s stats from yesterday. Good grief. He’s a low 3 star guard and that’s what he’s been. We’ve all hoped he would play consistently and look at that debacle.
  11. Long twos. Unacceptably stupid
  12. Ken Pomeroy is going go to love this
  13. What? I am a sports nut and I can’t recall anything that bizarre. What did he do? It sure smacks of “we are losing on the road anyway, so let’s suspend him there but we might win at home so let’s keep him active at home.” Michigan makes a mockery of themselves. Makes it hard to root for them.
  14. Shannon’s TRO seems like a hail Mary and longshot. He has to show likelihood of success in court on the merits of the case. That seems far fetched if you read the affidavit. She has no history with him or axe to grind. Her facts are very detailed. It’s a tough read. Women unfortunately do make false claims. But in this situation it’s hard to find a hint of it. No money grab, jealousy motives, scorned female, etc. She has literally zero reason to make this up.
  15. Selfish, stupid act. You wear the jersey, you honor the school and don’t pull crap like that.
  16. They will win five conference games and this is one of them.
  17. Is Walker learning the game? Maybe he can look at a VHS explaining how to play.
  18. This is a very unimpressive team taking your lunch money and barking at you while you look at your shoe laces.
  19. Inexcusable. And that is an understatement.
  20. Unfortunately Trey has gotten the yips. That can be very hard to get rid of.
  21. The Rutgers guy took two hands and tossed him to the ground and got away with it. Vigilante justice worked for him.
  22. Flagrant. Hostile act. Not a basketball play.
  23. I like this lineup. I hope they get some run and let’s see what happens.
  24. Even Walker threw up a God awful three that really killed our momentum.
