  1. Yes. Also, with Race & TJD gone, his role is bound to be different. In a sense it's good to have a talented freshman who has high potential without the fear of going pro after one season.
  2. Related to that (5-stars not living up to their ranking) - I wonder if Reneau would be considered one? We know he has shown good potential and had some nice games early in the non-con part of the year but struggled some in the B10 (mostly foul trouble). I'm pretty "bullish" on MR, particularly considering that recent comparison of top-100 recruits v.s. transfers, but from the outside he may be seen as not living up to his ranking(?)
  3. I'll be disappointed if we don't! I include any possible de-commits (ala JHS, MR) as "transfers".
  4. Not until he proves it (which I hope he can).
  5. I agree 90%. Even before his injury Race wasn't playing his best ball and I was somewhat disappointed in his play up to that time. Everything else mirrors my opinion.
  6. With the talk about Davis, yesterday I watched some of Maravich's highlights. The dude could shoot, he could do acrobatics going to the hole that would make Circus Soleil proud, and handled the ball like it was on a string. There's a play where he makes a 3/4 court fast break pass that perfectly hit his teammate in stride - underhanded. Also watched some assorted videos of players in the 70's & 80's that went HS to NBA. Guys like Moses Malone and (especially) Darryl Dawkins. Those guys were physically just as big and strongas veteran NBA guys. With how Edey can dominate today with his size, imagine "Chocolate Thunder" muscling opponents in the lane for one year - Holy Schnikees!
  7. Spot on with all 3 points. For me the synopsis of this tem is that we're top 3 or 4 in the B10 and top 25-ish nationally. Both being notable improvements over the past, but sometimes great games are fools gold and bad ones are the opposite.
  8. Back to the game: We haven't been a mentally tough team this year, at least consistently. We didn't have the fight in us tonight at all. Iowa had the gameplan & talents that we are not best suited to defend. They executed it and made their shots. We might well have struggled if we had played better. The defense was lost & slow for sure, but the offense in the first half was equally inept. IMO, the game was lost in the first half. Going forward we're the same team we've been all along: capable of being very good, incapable of doing it consistently, and not without multiple flaws. We could win a couple or three in the tourney or we could crap out on night #1. It's a roll of the dice in my opinion.
  9. Not until I know what the roster will be. We don't have any JHS level recruits on the way, we will lose our best player, also quite possibly our second best one, our bench has been garbage for the most part - especially the non-freshman players (who get a bit of a pass). Really, we are looking at a complete rebuild with our only sure starter returning being Galloway. Lots of work to be done and CMW needs to have an "unpleasant conversation" with 3 or 4 players.
  10. This one's history. Iowa came to play and we were satisfied just to show up. Very disappointing.
  11. Agree. IMO he has 5x the upside going forward over Bates.
  12. had to be - it was only thefourth or fifth foul on iowa. lol. never mind...
  13. At least our offense seemed to finally wake up toward the end of the half. Big fan of CMW, but leaving TJD & JHS on the bench for that 11 point iowa run may prove to be the killer.
  14. I don't think they've called a foul on iowa in about 10 minutes.
  15. JHS getting smoked on 3 straight iowa possessions.
  16. One thing you have to do when the other team is hot, is rebound and we've haven't.
  17. There's the "D" that'll cool 'em down!
  18. In the words of Pete Gillen: Duke is Duke.
  19. Regarding XJ warming up and in uniform: my guess is that he's going through the normal pregame prep so he'll be mentally dialed-in when the time comes.
  20. 100%. With the possibility/probability that JHS goes professional, it would eliminate one position we won't have to plug. Regardless, with the team "gelling" around JHS & TJD, trying to work XJ into significant minutes could prove counter-productive.
  21. I wonder if they named anything for George Raveling? 😆
