  1. Good. Competition should be mutually beneficial.
  2. I'm interested to see what further improvements Galloway will make in the off season. He was notably improved this season while being hampered/out last summer. Hopefully he stays healthy and improves his shooting even more.
  3. I'm very interested to see what our offense will look like going forward. I'm not an X's& O's guy, but I think it's obvious that the systems (and personnel) the E8 teams run is more effective. Nothing against Kopp, but as an example when I'd see him come down on offense and go to his corner like he had been put in a "time-out" it was hard to believe that it made life difficult for the other team's defense. I realize it was a result of our 2-post offense (and personnel).
  4. I think this is quite possible but I still have to temper my expectations. There are 2 things that are undisputable facts, though: 1) He's a coaches son and that is almost always a positive, and 2) the young man is clearly invested (already) in the program's success. In that regard he reminds me of Rob Phinessee before during his senior year of HS. I'm very happy that he'll donning the candystripes soon.
  5. Slow portal day so I present the real damn deal: Dancin' Harry.
  6. While I do want to see us go to a more athletic style of play, I think we need to be able to play the big ten style. I've always felt it is easier to slow an opponent down than speed them up and like it or not we'll have to deal with it in B10 play. I mostly want us to attack the portal with proven players that can and will contribute.
  7. I'm sure it's not a pleasant conversation to have, but it was a necessary one. With how Dolson appears to have structured the BB program, modeled somewhat after a pro team, and changes in the NCAA (portal, ie free agency), success requires difficult choices. Specifically with Duncomb he was recruited by Miller, declined the suggestion to redshirt as a freshman, and it seems didn't impress Woodson with his work ethic (and did earn a suspension last season). He seemed to be the most likely to be gone.
  8. "HOW TO GET WEALTHY" with Dan Dakich: Buy him for what he's worth and sell him for what HE thinks he's worth...
  9. Regarding Bates, he's a head scratcher for me. He seems gifted enough to be a borderline starter but not a primary or go-to guy. I'm pretty unimpressed with his development in the past 12 months, but he wouldn't be the first player to have a sudden jump from one season to the next. What concerns me most is relying on multiple players to make significant improvement in the off season, particularly with non-freshmen. More often than not it hasn't materialized - at least the past few years. Of our freshmen this past season, Reneau & Banks stood out the most to me. It will be interesting to see how/if Woodson's offense changes without focusing on TJD.
  10. Doyel is the print version of Dakich, minus any actual experience. Nobody "quit" - they got out hustled and simply beaten by better players.
  11. That shot looked like an attempted "buzzer beater".
  12. Heck, I'd really like to see it too. Especially if paired with an experienced, quick point guard (XJ). That could be really a dynamic combo.
  13. A jumper would be great but he was forced to play in the lane for this team. A jump shot will be essential for his NBA aspirations I'd imagine.
  14. Anyone else notice how few fouls were being called, especially in last night's game. Had it been a BT game both teams would have had double the fouls called on them it seems.
  15. Nothing but respect to TJD. He made significant improvement every season he played - something we've not seen from our team in recent years. Probably maxed out his development as a CBB player. Hopefully he can carve out a role at the next level and continue to be a great representative of the program.
  16. I reluctantly upvote this. Pretty frank & critical assessment - but not wrong. In a sense our roster is now in a similar situation to where it was when Crean was dismissed. Woodson had limited pieces to work with and did pretty well, IMO. At some point, being when first taking over or now he's got to decide how he's going to build a truly great team. Standing pat and prioritizing "loyalty" ain't gonna get us there. All avenues need to be exploited, and successfully - especially the portal and the 2024 class. This is a very critical period in his tenure. I DO feel better about his commitment and judgement than I did with Archie. The next several weeks will be very interesting.
  17. Coaches need to stop building their teams for, and playing "brute ball". If it's National Tournament success you prioritize, donv't worry about competing for the lesser prize.
  18. Bingo. I don't like to single out an individual play or player, but that was incredibly awful judgement. I believe Miami scored after that, then JHS threw up another brick and they scored again. Our momentum was dead in it's tracks.
  19. Better team won. Good, but not great season - probably in line with our talent level. Woodson has a LOT of work to do with assembling next year's team. The cupboard isn't completely bare, but only enough to make a plate of biscuits.
  20. I guess we broke out the Addidas lead-weight sneakers for this game. Miami's quicker at every position, every possession.
  21. TJD failing to get position (ie loafing) on the defensive boards is disappointing.
  22. Kopp's steal and prayer moonshot really blunted our run. Can't whizz away possessions in a close game like this.
