I will say this. If IU's recent 4 game losing streak was now sitting as a 7 game losing streak, I think you have to remove 'never' from your statement. What did the two game winning streak before last night do? It guaranteed a non-losing record, and at that point the optics of firing him became murkier. Regardless of what the product looks like on the court (and, honestly, we all have to admit this season has not been pretty), it would be hard to fire a legacy coach who never had a losing season and had been to the tournament 2 out of 3 times. Frankly, if the fan base wasn't already out of sorts from the latter Crean years and all of Archie's tenure, there would not be so much discontent.
Bottom line is that I don't believe the administration wanted to fire him, and the recent spurt of better play has give them the 'evidence' they were looking for as justification.
All that said, optics or not, I would have been more excited headed into next season with Bruce Pearl as the head coach. That's MY reality, but it is what it is, and I'm still an IU fan, as I have been for over 50 years.
i agree with this
It might also be that Pearl wasn’t fully on board or ever on board with coming to IU. If that’s the case then giving Woody another year makes more sense.

Yet, I'm seeing MSU consistently as a 9 seed. Bracket Project has them in 104 of 104 brackets. They are 4-8 in quad 1 games and 4-4 in quad 2. IU is 3-8 and 4-4, respectively and isn't sniffing a bid. MSU is NET #22 and IU is NET #101
St. Johns (61 brackets) and Seton Hall (84 brackets) are considered bubble teams. SJ is 5-9 quad 1, 4-2 quad 2. SH is 5-7 quad 1, 3-3 quad 2.
The net should be tossed out
If IU wins at minny and beats MSU at home we will have a very similar resume to most of the bubble teams except the net. That is the main reason we aren’t getting any talk about making it.
CBS was trying to make a case for OSU Sunday and not us. People are making a case for Iowa and Minny?
I we have been thumped in a lot of our losses. I also don’t think we deserve to been in right now. But win the next two and we should be in the bubble talk with a win or two in the BTT but that won’t happen because of our Net ranking. Not saying we should get in if that happens but should be in the conversation. IF MSU and Iowa Minny and OSU are in the conversation then we should be in that scenario

how is that not a f1 on Reece. Elbow to head and neck area is auto f1
X and gunn have had much less called against them. Total BS
Great effort
X playing under control makes this team much better. Say what you want but he does make a difference when he plays under control

tough call on malik for his second

Game went bad after the T on sparks
Not sure how you call a T when a guy is trying to pull the ball and gets tangled up with a guy draped on his back. It’s not a hook and hold. Arms were up and pulled down trying to bring the rebound down. Players got tangled up. Should have been a foul and move one

You don't think if we win 6 of 7 and finish 12-8 and 20-11 before BTT we get in at all? I'd like to think wins over Northwestern, Wiscy, Sparty,etc....would mean something.
we do that and we are 3rd or 4th in the conference and in the conversation for the tournament and probably in

Shouldn't that be flagrant?
should have have been
he grabbed to stop a break away
If that was X they would have looked at it and called it an F1

I think we should put Cupps in the circle to jump with Edey and put Ware between 2 of the PU guys on Edey's side of the circle....so he can steal the tip.
ware got the tip at the Hall

Gave it to Galloway but really should be both him and Malik. They took over half way through the second half.

Give woodson credit for a great play call that gave multiple options and Leal for sticking it
Also for not waiting til 10 seconds. Trusted the D and they came up with the stop

Ware struggled offensively but impacted game with his D even with the goal tending calls
Malik and Trey just huge. never gave up and kept fighting.
Leal need a to play more
Its a shame Mgbako can’t play more consistently on D

Incredible Ware just 2 points. Oh that’s right….coach protected him for later??? Malik is simply the ONLY consistent scorer game to game on this roster. Pitiful basketball team.
Ware wasn’t exactly playing good when he was in

okpera holds on to malik jersey pulling it down to his waist. no foul
MM drives and Okpera slaps down and you can hear it. no foul
Sets a screen and leans in throws an elbow. moving screen no call but leal and okpera get tangled up and foul on leal. The big10 needs to address the officiating

we get the weakest F1 foul calls against but can’t get the same call out way

How far apart are the following teams in the NET rankings?
Team 1: 13-8, 1-4 road, 1-2 neutral, 2-7 quad 1, 2-1 quad 2. No quad 3 or 4 losses
Team 2: 13-8, 1-4 road, 1-2 neutral, 0-7 quad 1, 3-1 quad 2. No quad 3 or 4 losses
I assume that is MSU and IU. That is why the is worthless. IU is not dead from the tournament Need to win the Wisky NW and Msu games avoid a bad loss and stay in top 5 in the conference standings That gives you a chance
