Only two sports Americans care about and PU whipped us in both. Time to turn the tables
The two years I was in B-town were the nadir of both the Mike Davis and Gerry DiNardo eras. I’m damn grateful we had two soccer national championships to celebrate, although much to the relief of IUPD, neither of those involved tear gas or the removal of light poles.
Dammit.

Those three make sense. Kelley, Mendoza and Kellogg are all good to really f’king good b-schools.

I haven't dialed in yet because of focus on hoops but here's where I'm at with Coach Cignetti. If he needs to send kids packing or whatever you want to call it so be it. I mean no disrespect to CTA and his time but if CC needs to ship dead wood so be it.
That’s a fair statement to make anytime there’s a coaching change.

They are also getting a good amount to do that. Leal seems very smart and is probably using it for future real estate endeavors
Leal used part of one year’s NIL money to pay off his sister’s entire student loan balance.

This may not seem like much now, but in 10 years where does IU stand to the likes of corporate NIL deals in bigger cities?
Who knows what the NIL landscape is going to look like in 2 years, let alone 10?

I see where people saying guys like Rice or Carlyle are had shooters. I don't totally agree with that because there is more to shooting than just shooting 3's. I just look at Carlyle who went 32/100 from 3 which makes him a bad shooter. If he would have just hit 5 more to go 37/100 that would have made him an above average shooter. So hitting 5 more shots over a 31 game schedule is the difference from a great shooter to a bad shooter.
I think when people say "shooter", they mean "3 point shooter". Most do anyway.

I know people don't think its that important, but to me its the biggest missing piece we have had for years.
Oh I'd say everyone this offseason thought that shooters would ward off the impending apocalypse.
I would rather have 4 guys on the roster that were low-mid 30s on volume than 2 guys close to 40. Purdue's outside game was based around having 3-4 other guys on the floor that were a reliable threat to hit a 3. Their highest volume shooter was Jones, and he shot 35%, not 40. We had MM. Now, Carlyle fits the same mold (32% on decent volume), Rice shot pretty well until he hit the wall, Goode should be an ideal fit.
That moves us from one to three, plus a pretty sure.
Cupps and Reneau both shot at a decent percentage on limited volume, so those are a few wild cards. Oh, and although Galloway isn't the best 3 point shooter....he's not afraid to throw them up there. 😂

FedEx has announced a massive $25 million name, image and likeness investment in Memphis athletics that will fund $5 million in NIL contracts over each of the next five years in key sports while promoting the company. The deal is believed to be the biggest corporate NIL partnership of its type in college athletics.
In related news WalMart has announced a $1M annual recurring donation to Arkansas athletics.
This partnership will fund the annual budget for John Calipari's hair gel.

I agree with this to an extent, but I dont want to rebuild a roster of 6 guys from the portal every year. In state kids especially with the level of talent that Sisley has, are the type to build around and less likely to transfer generally speaking. In state/home connection, with PT, with $$$. No reason to go somewhere else.
This year we have 3-4 starters from the portal. I think we hit homeruns, but I cant see that happening every year. Sisley and Sisley type players would bring a bit more stability.
Yes you could say... what about CJ Gunn. And I would say... well Gallo came back to possibly come off the bench, and Leal came back for 5 minutes a game.
I don't expect to totally rebuild every year. But unless you're looking at a sure-fire hit, if you're going to go with a kid's upside, why not focus on freshmen that enter the portal? True, they'd only have 3 years of eligibility vs 4, but you'd also have at least some actual knowledge of how their game translates at the college level.
Not every kid that enters the portal is going to be a one-year mercenary, and we just landed a backcourt of two sophomores that could potentially play multiple years.

How are y’all feeling about the recruitment? I think it’ll end up being pretty tough for him to say no to IU but we shall see.
This is strange to say, but....aside from top 25 level high school prospects, I'm not really that worried about it. Why take a chance on a kid out of high school when you could get a proven player from the portal?

Defense & turnovers are more important
I'd say almost equally as important in today's game. If you're prone to a bad TO or two but are a lights out shooter, you'll see the floor.

So... are some really complaining about the staff flying to visit these recruits? WTF? It's not like they're visiting Avon or Greencastle for Pete's sake.
And if it's a leased aircraft, odds are, the university is paying for X flight hours per month anyway, regardless if they're used or not.
