Dang, When attended IU in early 2000s I lived off Grant Street and Smith. I would walk to that Kroger all the time and hang in Seminary Park.

The only homeless I ever saw were at Peoples Park off of Kirkwood. Most were transient and would leave in the winter and come back during the spring and summer. As I recall a lot of them had names and the locals knew them. They were overall friendly and never bothered anyone. I guess things have really changed?

What years, just out of curiosity? I was 03-05

  2. Pardon me for actually putting this thread back on topic, but here were the goings on at Chez Zline tonight. The annual spring ritual of adding, adjusting and tweaking my outdoor lighting.

    There’s 7 pathway lights, 2 wall-wash flood lights, 1 conventional diffused flood, 2 mini-spot lights, 4 fixed-beam spotlights, 5 adjustable beam width floodlights and 2 uplights , all powered by 2 150W transformers.

The two green marks are the two additions, which were the mini-spotlights. The yellow mark was an upgrade, from a fixed beam to an adjustable spot.

Everything is low voltage (12V) LED, and everything is from Volt Lighting except the two up lights, which are WAC.

The only other planned changes this year are the two new garage lights I almost have ready, which I’ll post about separately. I do want to add one downlight above the center of the garage door and a down light focused on the front door at some point, but…in time.

Edit: yes, add this to the list of stuff I’m a geek about. 😂

AC in my grandpa's truck was a crank the window down away.

I’m old school on quite a bit of things, but I’ll readily admit to being a modern candy-ass on the above items. Power windows and a/c only for me, and I’ll kvetch all day long that the modern refrigerants don’t get as cold as R12. The a/c in my ‘88 Fiero could turn the interior into a meat locker if you left it on max.

Among several complaints about my hearing aids the blue tooth music sucks! Best to play the music through speakers and let the aids amplify the needed frequencies!

Edit: may have to think about using them with jawbones though? Hmm..

I’m telling you….give the $20 Amazon orient specials a shot. I’ll never go back to in-ear again.

Why would a guy like Power transfer from Duke to only he a role player somewhere else. I am hopeful that Newton can be able to he healthy for next year and be a contributor off the bench. If we knew he could then all we would need is a backup 4 and 5. That is if we get Carlyle

Because he would be a role player at best at Duke?

When I was a kid growing up, Frisch's was one of really only 3 restaurants in Martinsville...And it was a drive up place with the tray on the widow deal...Loved a Big Boy...

And when I went with my friends to Riverfront, of course we always had to have some Skyline...

You can tell I’m not an actual Cincinnati native when I say….I could take or leave either one. I’ve gone to Frisch’s maybe 5 times in 20 years of living here. Nothing against it, just never comes top of mind.

I do get a chili craving every couple of months, but again, showing my “immigrant” status….I think Skyline and Gold Star are 99% the same and don’t have a preference. If I had to pick a chili joint, it would actually be Dixie Chili in Newport.

And for the love of all that is holy….get that mustard off my coneys. Yellow mustard is a tool of the devil himself.

Ive I've already told my mom I'm choosing the food.she doesn't eat spicy food or leftovers. Since I paid for tickets and room and gas she's on hook food.

Oh yeah. I'm gonna eat Cincinnati up and hit up Jungle Jims.

The one food I tell people not to leave Cincy without trying: Graeters ice cream. Yeah, you can tell I’m not a true native since I didn’t say chili, but trust me, it’s the best ice cream in the country.

    The big question is...

Is there a Frisch's and/or a Skyline within walking distance?

    Two Skylines: 4th & Sycamore and 6th & Vine.

Frisch's....not really. There's one about 2 miles from the stadium, but not exactly an area the T-Swizzle crowd would want to stroll around in after dark.  Not the worst part of the city, but not exactly hospitable.  Let's put it this way....I would walk there after dark, but I'd be carrying.

Can Power actually play the 3? I haven’t seen him play, but everything I’ve seen has him listed as a PF. Feel like him, Reneau, and Ballo at the same time wouldn’t be a lineup that would work very well, especially defensively.

In a pinch, maybe.  He's listed as a PF, but if you look at him play, he's very much a euro/stretch-4, not a traditional 4.

Don't go visit Seminary Park.  The kids call the Kroger that's right there Kroghetto.

I think we're way off the OP!  Lol

That's the one that's at 2nd and College (more or less) right?

Damn....that used to be the Kroger I'd go to.  I held on to the IU-themed Plus card I got from there for like 10 years after I graduated. 😂

Or if they both wind up here.....gravy.

And is Calhoun's health the word? :coffee:

I know I've said this at least a few times, and if anyone is wondering WTF I'm talking about, the "Calhoun's health is the word" goes all the way back to HSN 1.0, when it was part of the Scout.com network.

During the recruitment of former 5* Jelan Kendrick (which I believe was 2007-2008ish), at one point it was reported it was a tossup between IU and UConn.  An "insider" posted that Kendrick to IU was a "Done deal, Calhoun's health is the word".  At the time, Jim Calhoun was fighting cancer.  Well, as it turns out, Kendrick was a bust who played 3 different places, none of which were IU or UConn.
