  1. I walked into a brewery here in Charleston last night and noticed one of the TVs had IU basketball on. I just knew that Coach had passed.  I had a hard time fighting back the tears.  My Mom(a big Coach Knight fan too) has dementia as well.  It's such a sad thing to go through.  My heart goes out to the Knight family.

I have so many awesome memories of Coach.   Him buying Mother Bears pizza for a bunch of us camped out at AH waiting to buy season tickets was one of my favorites.  My mom even had a Coach encounter once.  Her and her two sisters were in Nashville and they ran into him in some dress shop.  He was there shopping for a birthday present for his wife. I'm sure he was busy but he took time to talk with them and sign autographs.  Pretty sure they triple teamed him and he didn't stand a chance.  Haha.  My Mom couldn't wait to tell me and show me the autograph.

I'm smiling and tearing up typing this.  RIP coach!!!

I had kind of assumed this was going to be Maryland, but the Trilly tweet has me intrigued.

If it's really down to us and Maryland.. Why would a kid choose to play for Willard over Woodson? Also, the NIL opportunities at IU definitely outweigh Maryland.

I think we have a better chance than originally thought. Would be an awesome get and makes portal season a lot less stressful knowing we already have two 5 stars coming in. Come on down DQ!

Only reason I could see a Maryland pick is because he's from Baltimore. Could be he wants to come home and play in front of family and friends.

Everything else we are the better choice.  🙂🙂🙂

Seems like you're painting with a pretty broad brush here. I think this message board has always kind of fallen along the lines you see in this thread in terms of how we feel about punishment of players.

In terms of coaching, Sampson is on an entire different level so that's kind of moot.

As far as Crean and Woodson, Woodson is still fairly new and hasn't really had too many major problems, and I don't recall Crean catching a ton of heat for this stuff until that stretch where he had Yogi's incident, Troy Williams suspension, the Parea incidents and then of course the Holt/Devin Davis incident.

I think those Crean things all happened in a fairly short time frame and were all worse than anything that's happened under Woodson.

    The context matters.

Just an observation.  Not here to start s@#t.  I'm just gonna shut up and let y'all debate this crap instead of basketball.

Let's wait and see how Coach Woodson handles it before we cast stones his way.

As far as the comment about it not being the first incident, every coach at every single program in the country has to deal with these kind of things.

My perspective is that this is a more serious incident than both the Windy City Five and Racer X.  That said, if Coach doesnt hand out what I believe to be an appropriate punishment, I'll accept the fact he has more information than I do and move on.

All that said, I do think this should be a learning experience for the whole team and not just MM. Whatever comes from it, all players and coaches alike need to understand this type of behavior is not acceptable.  And that message needs to come from Coach Woodson.

Not throwing stones.  I'm 100% a Woody guy.  Just find it interesting how a lot of folks here(probably me included, haha) were all over CTC and Samscum when incidents happened.  Seems we've given Woody a pass.  Is that cause he's still new, a Knight guy or what?

  5. So is everyone just giving Woody and the coaches a pass on this?  If this happened under CTC or Samscum's watch y'all would have been roasting them for not having control of their players and the quality of young men they were recruiting.  This ain't the first incident on Woody's watch either.

And  l'm not as sure as some of y'all to believe alcohol or Mary Jane wasn't involved.  Maybe the cops cut him a break on that since they knew who he was. Like really... who is sober at Taco Bell at 3 am on a Sunday morning?   I'm braced for the answer to be... this was just a late night snack after a Cook Hall workout or that he was driving for Uber Eats.

Yeah, had some friends get the floor seats.  This will be my son's first IU/college game, so he's just excited to go. Should be fun.

Oh cool.  Going with my brother and our wives.  It'll be our 1st time going to that arena.  The last game I went to in the ATL was the IU-UK 2012 tournament game at the Georgia Dome.  Let's hope for a similar game with a better ending.  🙂🙂🙂

Just checked the various websites (ticketmaster, St Farm Arena, etc) and while the website promoting the event says tickets on sale now, nobody else, including ticketmaster even has the event on their calendars, much less tix for sale.

Pisses me off. Promote it, then drop the ball on ticket sales. I signed up for email updates, and so far....crickets.

Yep, their site even had a countdown clock for when they were going on-sale.  The other game that day is Mississippi St vs TBD.  Starting to wonder if these games will even happen.  That's some piss poor planning on this promoter.

Did I miss that we have reached out to this Horton kid, or is it just HSN speculation?

I think it was just a news story listing schools that could use him.  No mention if we were interested.  The X and Mgbako connections make him a bit more intriguing though.

Are we ignoring that this guy punched a cop?  Hate to be the one to bring it up.

Fyi... the assault charge was dropped.  He pled guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of public intoxication.  Got community service.   Just reading some old news clips... his car was being towed and apparently the police got involved and things escalated.

    I'd be okay taking him.

Haven't seen this confirmed by any of the IU media. My mistake if I've missed it.

Whoever posted that tweet linked an article from last October.  I don't think there's been any news since then.  I'm guess it was someone that thought it was new info.  🤷‍♂️

I could have sworn I heard awhile back this was going to resume in the '24-'25 season. Can't help but wonder if Calipari said '25-'26 because he's not planning to be there for it.

The SI article attached is from October of last year.  Not sure why it got re-tweeted.  I don't see anything Cal had said about it recently. 🤷
