  1. And while we are on that topic …dgambill you named two Pacers teams that made the list …the jazz and Sonics teams from the bulls second three peat stand out to be with those Pacers teams and the magic team with penny Shaw grant Anderson and Shaw ….anyone else got a list of the best assembled teams NOT to win a championship excluding any lakers or Celtics team that was beaten by either the Celtics or lakers ( lots of them would qualify )

Those Rocket teams are a tad underrated historically. Hakeem was as good as any center has been in the NBA those two years, and I really think if Jordan hadn't left the NBA that Houston still gets one of those titles against Jordan's Bulls. Bill Wennington was not even remotely slowing down Hakeem if the Rockets and Bulls met in the Finals.

I agree and the bulls were also minus horace grant and Sam cassel kenny smith and Robert horrey weren’t outplaying pippen and Jordan but they could have at least kept them busy

What makes me jealous is that all our best teams coincided with prime MJ and LBJ. The one that didn't ran into the prime Kobe and Shaq....and the other that SHOULD HAVE the malice in the palace ruined it for us (that might have been our best team ever). Looking at the Eastern landscape the past two years....why oh why couldn't it be now.

Omg…I literally stay up some nights thinking about what you just typed….and don’t forget the teams we had that were very close to the ones you described that had bad series against the knicks or magic ……….without the bulls our hypothetical  finals series against the jazz and SuperSonics would have been epic ……I think the rockets would Have bear us in their two years even if we got by New York and Orlando

Ben Simmons attempted 3 shots in the 4th quarter in a 7 game series....none in the last 4 games....that is not a franchise player...and all nba gms recognize that.

That’s staggering ….starting to remind me of Michael cárter Williams who came out as a “ do everything “ Guy and won ROY then ended up a role player

That’s not good…nba avg is like 35%. A good 3pt shooter should shoot above 38% if I’m not mistaken or the analytics say not to shoot.

I mean I’d prefer he not be putting up ten per game but for a 4 or 5 33% Is respectable enough that he has to pull a defender to the perimeter and space the floor …if he’s wide open great if not don’t shoot and he’s only putting up 2 per game …..you are correct about the defense though I just worry we have had pretty good luck getting value out of trades and we are due to lay an egg

The last month of the season he almost averaged a triple double

Im With you …I also think the five position is ever evolving …right now you have to either be a jokic who can literally do everything or you need to be a Clint capella who runs the floor like a deer , blocks shots, and is happy getting points from  our backs and lobs without bitching about touches.  I’m not sure the Joel embiids of the world can win a championship in a guard / forward driven league

Completely agree. I like having these younger, exciting teams like Phoenix or Atlanta in it, while you also have teams like the Clippers going for their first title, or the storyline of Giannis or Embiid going for their first title.

Yep and not having a single of the aforementioned group in the final four makes it so much more compelling ….when you get a super team or one of the regulars in the conference finals it’s almost like watching a patriots super bowl  ……I was sad to see the jazz lose because I think they have mirrored the Pacers or been the western conference version of the Pacers since the early 90’s and If they can be successful it always gives me hope

Yup, and Durant switched to Giannis down the stretch.

Middleton and Holiday were great down the stretch.

Durant was phenomenal. It just hurt Brooklyn that Harden was so hobbled and Irving was out. Not that I'm feeling bad for them, they might be the most dislikable trio in the league.

Agreed on both ….honestly though …it’s prolly gonna end up bucks suns or bucks clippers and either way that will be kinda refreshing …..take away the Mavericks and Cavs single championships  and we’ve had pistons bulls, rockets, Spurs, lakers, Celtics, heat for the last 40 ish years

KD is amazing! Was really happy to see Jrue Holiday step up late, while I think he's a little overrated, he's a great guy and great teammate so wanted him to do well.

    Budenholzer is not good.

    9 minutes ago, BGleas said:

One thing about Giannis, you can not be the Defensive Player of the Year and not be defending Durant in these situations. Heck, they don't even have him on Harden.

Budenholzer ALWAYS has that confused look on his face ……I dislike Kevin Durant and that was about as good a playoff game as I’ve seen someone play and lose …he carried them completely

Sabonis can’t shoot 3…doesn’t rebound great, and plays awful defense. He is excellent at the high post offensively but it’s about selling high. GS is about only team I make that trade because it gets Wiseman a corner stone piece (answers the center position once and for all) and lands you another lottery pick.

I’ll have to look but I think sabonis was top five or six in rebounds per game ….defense I’ll give you but I thought that’s what Turner was for ……..unless lillard has a soft spot for indiana then I’d trade either or both

  11. 1 hour ago, dgambill said:

If you could move Sabonis for GS #14, Wiseman, and Oubre in sign and trade. We could possibly package #13 and #14 to move in top 10. Try to land an elite pg/sg at top of draft. Possibly move Turner as well…several teams looking at him for late lottery and fillers or a young player. We will have moved off Turner and Sabonis finally and have Wiseman, Warren, Oubre, Levert, Brogdon plus that top 10 pick and whatever Turner lands us..say the hornets give us Washington and #11. We would have a center for the future..young pg and young wing (maybe D Mitchell & S Barnes) would be perfect to mold while still fielding a team that can compete for a playoff spot…that might be the best of both worlds if you ask me. We are setting up for the future in basically 3 lottery picks but also still competing now…and one of them being a #2 center piece. And if the Pacers fall out of playoff contention then you can go full rebuild by moving Brogdon and Warren.

I’m not a fan of moving sabonis because he hasn’t stopped getting better …if we do move someone we can’t move him AND Turner can we ? We had the injury bug so we never saw them all together but if they can get along I think a brogdon, Warren, lavert, sabonis, Turner with McDermott lamb and McConnell off the bench is about as good a small market group as you can put together without lucking into an all nba player in the draft

Is it just me or does Tucker get to play 90s defense while everyone else is playing in the modern foul rules. I mean I’ve heard of sexual assault charges with less then he is molesting KD lol.

I saw that too …bump on every possession …also is it just me or wasnt jrue holiday actually good when we waded into the playoffs with the Pelicans a couple years back ? He looks horrible

I've held back a long time, but I've gotta say it...I am SICK OF THIS THREAD!  NONE of these guys are gonna play for IU, so why is this in an IU basketball forum?!!

Careful ….you’re at risk of making sense

in fairness though I may need this thread to get me by so don’t tempt anyone to end it 🤣

Not a legal beagle but I’ve always heard they can hold you 24 hrs before charging you or releasing you. A little longer if it is a serious crime. Again...never been arrested....have gotten a couple speeding tickets though.

It’s after 48 hours  that they HAVE to release you if probable cause sufficient to hold the accused  hasn't been established by a court with jurisdiction

I got arrested in Louisville, disorderly conduct.  Sometime after midnight.  Evidently they were going to release me around 7 am but i was so passed out i slept through them calling my name.  Finally by noon I asked the guard how long i was going to be held.  They were super confused because i wasn't supposed to be there.  Crazy thing is i was never charged, never fined, no fees, nothing.  I went and got my record of arrest expunged a year later when i started trying to get real jobs.  Represented myself before the judge.  He asked if I had been in anymore trouble.  And wished me luck.

    Well played

I see....then yes there seems to be a story here. Honestly, I've never been to jail or asked to bail anyone out so I would never have known. Heard stories about people being in the drunk tank all weekend but have no clue what truth is in all that.

I understand that all too well(another story) but they normally only hold someone for 4 hours on a DUI charge(as long as that is all there is).

But I haven't bailed out a buddy in 15 years...so maybe the "rules" have changed.

It is partially dependent on the county / jurisdiction of the offense but if the information a poster provided about him being alleged to have a 0.15 BAC is accurate it would not be uncommon to have him held for that period of time even outside the circumstances of posting bond or a release on his own recognizance.  Up until last year most counties operated on either a cash or surety bond system. Bond is often immediately scheduled by the detention facility based on the classification of the alleged offense so bond can be posted almost immediately after the book in process.  With dui or any case that involves substance use a facility can hold an individual, even one that can post the determined bond , until the intoxication sufficiently subsides to insure the safety of the detainee.  He could have been so out of it they couldn’t responsibly release him even if folks wanted to post his bond.  About 18 months ago we adopted a new system where misdemeanor offenses and non violent felons could be reviewed upon arrest for several criteria ( criminal history , employment , residence , etc ) to determine if the person was a risk and they could be released without posting a bond to alleviate crowding issues ….unless he has a dui history or was also charged with an endangerment offense that increased the severity to felony level it’s likely he would have qualified for release on his own recognizance even if his family was holding out to teach him a lesson.  Between family not wanting to get him out immediately and / or not being able to get there in timely fashion , him being unsafe to release , and there being further investigative inquiry or circumstance surrounding his arrest I would speculate that it was most likely something to do with his fitness to be released  until  he sobered up.  If he had drugs or did something that was investigated further it would have likely been brought to light since.

Under 15 timeout 47-41 IN. Luke Brown needs to shoot more. Too many guys shooting bricks. KY has had a couple of chances to take the lead but they've airballed a few 3's.

I agree I felt he was a little too unselfish and you had guys like Goode jacking it every time they touched the ball

  18. 1. Indiana by 23 and it was exactly what I expected is this team.  Deep and played solid team ball.  They attacked from top to bottom.  Fun to watch.

    2. everyone that doubted how Brown would play against top guys …he started with a notre dame , Illinois , and two Perdue recruits ….played the fourth or fifth most minutes on the team.  Was 7-9 18 points and 4 or 5 assists.  Zero turnovers lead team in scoring.  Two highlight passes.  Was primary ball handler most of the time he was in. Obviously the shot volume isn’t there but he looks like a better player with those studs around him that can dunk or hit shots on the other end of the passes
