  1. This is fun especially compared to the days when we were the only Power 5 offer for half or more of our recruits (and some of the others would only have an offer from us and someone like Illinois).

The transfer portal is also looking good. Hopefully we can stay relatively injury free and have a turnaround season in spite of yet another brutal schedule (in regards to the schedule I just looked and our crossovers are home opener vs NW and @NE which is a lot better than starting @IA this year).

Not that he's playing terrible, but I expected more from Bates. It's not a complicated offense.

I agree. He has been decent but based on some of the pre-season hype etc I kind of thought Bates would be a starter by the start of the meat of Big Ten season (ie after the holidays). That’s not going to happen but again, he is only a freshman and will definitely be a player.

    I like what Duncomb showed

I agree. While it’s hard to jump to conclusions, since he played at the end of a game against weak competition, it was good to see him do some things. Who knows, maybe he will be like the many Wiscy big guys that worked themselves into being good players their Junior and/or Senior years.
    Hopefully he earns more chances.

I'm in total agreement...I think Rob is adequate for a back-up PG, but I think Lander could be more than adequate...

It kinda makes you wonder if Khristian is in Coach Woody's long term plans...Rob and XJ will be gone next year, and we have Hood-Schifino and Gunn coming in...Our backcourt will have Trey, Anthony, Tamar, and Khristian potentially coming back...

I think the big question becomes, if KL isn't going to see any action in the majority of our games, does he wait his turn?

Does X have another year if he wants it?  I know Rob does. Wonder of either of them surprise us by coming back another year.

Maybe KL turns it around in practice and wins minutes but at this point he is clearly not in the rotation. Woody, and the entire staff including Thad, knows the possible implications of KL not getting time but that clearly is not an issue for him (them). Maybe KL will wait his turn but in addition to not playing I’m sure he is very aware that JHS is coming and I believe JHS has been more of a PG this year than a CG.

For all we know next years PG plan might be JHS and a portal PG.

  6. Bad loss.

    Really bad loss, but…

After 9 games some have already given up on Woody but in year three of Archie some were still saying it takes 3-4 years to learn his D and that those with higher expectations were guilty of expecting instant gratification LOL. LOL.

The reduction in turnovers the second 1/2 of Nebraska and this game is a positive trend. We really need to get back on track when TJD is not part of the offense and when X tries to do too much. This team has a decent upside and it will be interesting to see what we can do with that upside. 9 games is a wee bit early to come to a definitive conclusion.

Did he? I don’t even remember to be honest. I thought he re-injured himself that game.

I thought the same thing during the game, and posted it, but someone corrected me and said he fouled out (which turned out to be true).

I just looked and Rob fouled out with 4 seconds to go in regulation. Lander then came in and played the last few seconds of regulation and both OT’s (ie the 10 minutes he played) as both Rob and X had fouled out.  KL did not see any playing time against Cuse until they fouled out.

Confusing especially when KL was thrown into the fire @ Syracuse with 5 minutes left after not playing the entirety of the game.

KL would not have seen the court against Syracuse if it wasn’t for X, Rob and Stewart all fouling out.

He clearly is not in the rotation at this point.

But X needs to be more consistent and I'm not sure he's got that in him...

The first half is what we can be...the second, unfortunately, is what we are...

At this point in his career X “is what he is”…ie a rollarcoaster. He is going to win some games for us, have stretches where he is clearly our best PG but then have times when he gets too emotional and/or go all out hero-ball on us. He was 4-16 and took 5 more shots than TJD. Not good.
