We obviously don’t know what happened in the interviews.  But if you met one guy who played hard to get and expressed concern about everything and the other guy expressed a “bring it on” attitude, we all know who we would be drawn to.

No way to know, but I have a feeling that may be what we have seen with Cignetti versus other candidates.

Most definitely agree with this. He took a head coaching job at Elon and was able to win there....he certainly seems like a person/coach who is not scared of a challenge. I liked his resume before watching that video of him with McAfee, but loved his demeanor and attitude on that. That was the clincher for me that he might just be the guy IU needs.

Has won everywhere he has been

     take no crap attitude

     energy

has seen the workings of a top program (Bama/Saban)

     been a recruiting coordinator

competent teams in all phases (good staff)

That is another great point. Despite being a head coach at smaller schools, he was a part and learned under Saban at Bama. His list of recruits was impressive, especially at QB with Rivers/Wilson.

I kind of got that sense too.

I had him on my "list" but below Candle/Herman. After digging into some of these interviews and doing more research, I think I would have him and Herman 1A/1B. I am really excited if they are able to sign him. I hope and expect Dolson to give him plenty of cash for his assistants, so he can bring in whoever he wants/needs to get the job done. Let's keep increasing the NIL to compete with the big boys and roll out the facility upgrade plan and finally get IU football out of the cellar.

I do think this would be the best hire IU has made since Hoeppner. Go Hoosiers!!

"My sub committee recommended I punt" 😂😂😂

I liked this interview. I think CC conveys himself well. It appears he has a chip on his shoulder.

I really was impressed by his attitude. His straight talk about the committees/NCAA was great. He has no problem fighting for the underdog....which is what IU needs, since we are essentially the underdog of the big ten.

i am going to ask a real annoying question, what page can I find where the final candidates are currently coaching at so i can begin to put names to faces(I know who Mike Hart is at least lol).  Last names unfortunately don't help me on the CFB side of things lol

Who in the world hires.... for anything, with the next 20 years in mind?

There's like a 98% chance we have another thread just like this in ~5 years no matter who we hire, so get whoever can give us the most success in that time because 1) that's a lot more fun and 2) we will be in a better position in 5 years.

If you want someone to coach for 20 years then hire me, I'll happily do it at a discounted rate of $2.5M.

2.5 million is way too much. We can get @IUFLAfor a cool million per year.

Not that I'm seeing... One in from Bentonville Arkansas, and one out to Palwaukee (Chicago Exec)...

So we either talked Bobby Petrino out of taking the Arkansas OC job, or are hiring Eberflus away from the Bears 😉

So, being the astute internet sleuth that I am, I figured it all out.

Eberflus to IU and Gruden to Bears! Now I can get some work done!

I mentioned this yesterday.  Herman, with a proven track record, will be able to parlay FAU into a job at a 'football' school faster than he would be able to at Indiana.

Neither FAU nor Indiana is his end game, and he has the resume to get where he wants from FAU.  Moving to Indiana slows that process down.

Meh...after he leads IU to back to back national championships he won't ever want to leave Bloomington. :coffee:
