  1. I think Kimbrell, Bryant, and Tepera will go for sure. Maybe on Baez, Davies, and Rizzo. On the other hand, this is the Cubs, so who knows. I wouldn't be completely shocked if a trade came for someone unexpected like Contereas etc. depending on who they can get in return...I saw one site claiming cubs were maybe trying to get Dodgers top catching prospect Ruiz....which might make Contreras suddenly available.
  2. I take Omeprazole 40mg. My GI doctor switched me to Dexilant for several months, and it worked a little better for awhile, but ultimately I went back to Omeprazole.
  3. Chicken makes me think of Wade Boggs.
  4. Chafin to A's for 2 prospects. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/31893113/chicago-cubs-poised-send-andrew-chafin-oakland-athletics-prospects-sources-say
  5. I've heard that floated around as well...it is reminiscent of what happened with Chapman and Cubs/Yankees.
  6. Agreed. I am all for trying to lock up Baez/Contreras to long term deals as long as they are reasonable, but yeah, the rest of the "core" should be gone.
  7. Nice. We went to Jamaica on our honeymoon as well...almost 13 years ago! Congrats!
  8. Maybe we are both cheap bastards?
  9. We usually tip 20% dining out unless it is poor service. Pizza delivery we usually tip $5. I rarely go to bars anymore...but used to just "keep the change" on a $1.50 beer...so like .50 a beer. Then I would leave a dollar or two when leaving as well. Pickup is where I feel like a fish out of water....I usually give a buck, but never know if I am one of the few who are actually tipping, or if I am being a cheap bastard??
  10. Cubs selected southpaw Jordan Wicks with their #1 pick (21st overall). https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cubs/ct-chicago-cubs-jordan-wicks-mlb-draft-20210712-wcrlavfw25enjllyw3ossxw5wq-story.html
  11. Really makes me smile to have an offensive/defensive line that can hang with the big boys. I remember all too often getting pushed around up front by the UM, O$U, Wisconsin. GO HOOSIERS!!
  12. He will be a free agent in 2024 I believe.
  13. In my opinion, no. The core group seemed to be struggling some under him as well. Some of the holes on this team has never been truly addressed by upper management...they've always been a sort of "feast or famine" offense without a true leadoff hitter. The pitching as a whole, exceeded expectations the first couple months of the season, but have regressed back to what most expected. Overall, I like Joe, but he did some head scratching things at times...especially in the post season. I think he is a great manager to take over a team and use his quirkiness to get the most out of them for a few years, but then it kind of runs its course and starts to lose effectiveness.
  14. The Cubs are who we thought they were in preseason. I agree with most of what you posted, except if you can sign Baez to long term deal for decent $ I would sign keep him (and Contreras) in the long term plans. You can always extend Contreras and trade him down the line or move him to outfield if one of the catching prospects develops into legit starting catching material. We've already discussed this at great lengths the past few years, but they should have traded Bryant a long time ago for a haul...now I don't have the confidence that the front office will get much back in return...but they have to try. Otherwise, he most likely walks for nothing after the season with Borass representing him. And I never understood why the front office always seemed to have so much confidence in Happ. He showed flashes, but also looked terrible for long stretches. Maybe they can trade him for plane fare out of town?
  15. They are a pain. My wife made a great call and we brought out a candle to light them for the kids.
  16. Not sure what the status of the band is anymore, but would like to see AC/DC. John Fogerty is another I would like to see. Really disappointed I missed out on seeing Tom Petty particularly, but also Prince. Speaking of Buffett...I have seen him a few times and always have a blast.
  17. Feeling good about our chances? I think he will be a really good one. Fingers crossed!
  18. I triple dog dare you to eat the gum ha. It was bad enough when it was the current year!
  19. I think 81 was Montana rookie card. I think Ozzie Newsome was 79. That is still really cool. If you have 84 football cards unopened, I think it was Elway, Marino, and Dickerson rookies. I didn't have the patience to keep my cards unopened back in the day...I had to bust them all and see what I had. I still have a bunch of my older cards but most aren't worth much from the 80s. Most of the valuable stuff I have now is autographs/memorabilia.
