  1. I do like some onions and mushrooms with steak.
  2. Those look tasty...I'll take some onions with it too!
  3. I commend your dedication...getting up at that time to start the smoke! Hope it turns out great and enjoy your feast and holiday!
  4. You should post some pics of your turkey...sounds delicious. I had a "leftover" pulled pork sandwich for lunch and will be grilling one of the wifes favorites...veggie sandwiches for dinner today. Hope everyone has a good (and tasty) holiday weekend.
  5. It was good. Used mostly cherry wood so it wouldn't be overpowering and seemed like it would pair well with pork. I did toss in two small pieces of hickory. The smokey mountain ran a bit hot (280ish) which was not too bad...I probably should have added more water than I did...it was getting low towards the end. My only two issues with it would be the door leaks some (which I ave read will get better after a few smokes and natural seasoning/buildup) and it was difficult to add wood to the coals with the water bowl being so close...other than that I was happy. I think once I get a good feel for it, keeping temps steady won't be difficult. I will probably smoke some ribs next week sometime...maybe a chicken.
  6. Maybe use Sunday as an excuse to get some good steaks! Have a good weekend (sorry about picking up the bill ha).
  7. I don't think you would make it in time driving from TX...maybe jump on a plane ha. I didn't pick up cole slaw or cabbage to make my own...so going with potato salad today. Wife did make homemade buns. You have any grilling plans this weekend? I'm waiting for all the holiday weekend grilling pics to pop up here.
  8. Nearing the halfway point...threw some taters on for potato salad later... FYI...used mostly cherry wood today with a little hickory.
  9. Smoke on...first time with smokey mountain...so far so good. Only complaint is the door kinda sucks and there is not much room to add wood with water bowl so close to charcoals. I'll report back with finished product...this is right after 2 pork butts went on...
  10. Soooooo.....which ex wife was this?
  11. Ive read that the children don't have an interest in running the team...I have no idea if true or not, but it is good to hope!
  12. Bears need new owners...i think they will sell team once Virginia passes...
  13. We are doing Elearning due to our boy having some recent issues with pneumonia.
  14. I had to run some errands the last couple days and I would put the percentage of people wearing masks by me at 15-20% tops. It is scary.
  15. Ha. I was concerned about temperature regulation also...and my wife will tell you I am lazy as well. So, crazy story with this purchase. I was unpacking it to assemble and the last piece I pulled out of the box was the top section...only to find out it had been smashed in, probably by a forklift. The lid was smashed in about 4 inches with paint scrapped off... and upon careful examination some of the other sections didn't look quite perfectly circular. I contacted Home Depot and it was the last one they had in stock and the manager checked and none of the other stores in district had any showing up in inventory. I took a shot and called Weber...and I will give them major props. The lady I spoke with was super friendly and went above and beyond to send me the 3 sections via FedEx 2 day shipping. All they required is providing them the serial numbers and a few pics of the damage and the damage on the box. This just makes me that much more happy that I chose a Weber product over some other brands...their customer service was outstanding. Provided I receive the parts as promised...I will continue to recommend Weber to anyone.
  16. Funny you should mention about many Weber fans on this site...I finally made a decision and bought a Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5 inch charcoal smoker today from Home Depot. They have 11% rebate going on through this week to match Menards (Home depot gift card) and I get 5% cash back for using Discover card at Home Depot this month...so I broke down and bought it. It was a tough choice between this smoker and the electric smokers many on this forum use, but ultimately, I was worried after reading numerous reviews online that the electrical ones experience many issues and don't last beyond a few years, and the Weber has a 10 year warranty...and I am already a Weber fan and know how they hold up over time. I am hoping to do a test cook on it sometime in the next week or so.
  17. Indiana seems to be mixed results right now...most counties show declining confirmed cases, while some are increasing...this story has a map to show recent trends. https://www.wthr.com/article/news/investigations/13-investigates/trend-maps-show-coronavirus-cases-rising-some-indiana-counties/531-ace4c2a5-d2c9-4a23-8589-41e07a901641
  18. So, I saw some of his videos using this vortex and just bought one to try some wings out later this summer and football season...Anybody ever use a vortex on kettle grill before? https://howtobbqright.com/2018/02/22/vortexchickenwings/
  19. I think this link will work...Target is apparently has clearance on these Weber spirit 3 burners that are showing a little over $300 in stock in Lafayette and perhaps Avon...if you type in your zip code and search it should tell you if there is one at a Target near you...otherwise, like @milehiiu said, Home Depot has a clearance sale on many of their gas grills later in season if you keep an eye open for that. https://brickseek.com/target-inventory-checker/?sku=009-07-0412
  20. I'll try to get some pics up soon. Overall it went well..ribs turned out good. I made mac and cheese as well and it was decent...not as good as I hoped. My wife made potato salad and it was yummy. How did yours turn out?
  21. Yep...done my share of steaks on grill...but always like reading other ways to cook them up. Mine is only an inch or so thick ha. Happy Father's Day to you as well!
  22. So I went to the local meat market yesterday and picked up some more slabs of baby back ribs I'm planning on cooking Sunday. Also got a T-bone steak I threw in freezer for fathers day weekend. Planning on trying the "snake method" for the ribs that @BeerBQ referenced above. I'll report results after.
