  1. So I went to the local meat market yesterday and picked up some more slabs of baby back ribs I'm planning on cooking Sunday. Also got a T-bone steak I threw in freezer for fathers day weekend. Planning on trying the "snake method" for the ribs that @BeerBQ referenced above. I'll report results after.
  2. We cut the cord last month...so far we have what we have had all along...Amazon prime and Netflix. My wife was able to get NFL sunday ticket through work for like $99 last year. We will probably subscribe to youtube/hulu/sling during football/college hoops to watch local stations (football) and IU games. We were only watching cable 1-2 times a month for "regular tv" as almost everything I watch not sports related is on Netflix/Amazon/HBO etc.
  3. Thanks for the info, it is what I wanted to know...I also appreciate @BeerBQ info as well, and I've tried smoking like that on Weber charcoal, but I'm hoping for something that I don't have to babysit quite as much as I do now as the heat seems to fluctuate quite a bit on my current charcoal grill using indirect grilling.
  4. Typically I use propane Weber Genesis grill in all seasons and Weber charcoal grill in most weather. I'm looking at adding a dedicated smoker and trying to decide which would be best.
  5. Question for the smoking experts on here. I like to do some grilling and would like to smoke in fall/winter if possible, especially during football season. Is one particular fuel type better during the winter? I guess I am just wondering if an electric or coal smoker would work sufficiently during the colder months? And to clarify, I won't be out there in 10 degree weather, but I'm talking more about 30s-50s temps.
  6. It was still a great deal on that Genesis. I think my wife wants me to grill some sort of fish for her on grill soon.
  7. That was a steal for the Genesis grill. Was that a 3 burner? Don't tell Hank Hill, but I prefer the taste of charcoal grilling, but can't beat the convenience of propane. I am seriously considering the electric Masterbuilt, I honestly can't decide.
  8. Thanks for the recommendation @IUFLA I will check it out. I am just like @Seeking6 in that I have been watching/reading reviews online and trying to figure out which direction I want to go (and I am new to the smoking process). I splurged on the Weber Genesis grill I bought a few years back, so I am trying to buy this one on a good sale or clearance. I have been dropping hints to the wife as it would be a nice fathers day gift, but I don't think she is getting the message ha. I have the Weber kettle grill as well, but it is the more basic one without built in temp reading etc., that I have had for about 7-8 years. With having good luck with my Weber grills in the past I am considering the Weber Smokey Mountain smokers, but not sure I want charcoal. So many choices...
  9. Made 2 racks of baby back ribs last week for the first time in years. Turned out well...I think I'll start making that a handful of times a year. I do need to buy a dedicated smoker at some point...despite using offset heating on charcoal weber grill it was getting a little too hot for awhile and it took a fair amount of my time to keep monitoring the temp.
  10. I watched the first couple seasons of the Americans and need to finish watching it sometime. Is Peaky Blinders good?
  11. Glad nobody was hurt...that sucks about your tree/property, especially after all the work you put in the past couple months. Like others have mentioned hopefully insurance comes though for you.
  12. I also do it fairly quickly. We usually use cages.
  13. Just saw this post...cute puppy! We cut up and freeze our peppers in those plastic freezer safe ziplock type bags and use them in chili etc all fall/winter.
  14. We planted some zucchini, many tomato plants, eggplant, carrots, bell peppers, and cucumber (can't remember if we had pablano peppers this year). Planted a couple weeks ago. On the "to do list" this summer is staining the deck and shed.
  15. you can come over...bring some fried chicken with you!!
  16. Very jealous of the baby back ribs! I saw an ad for the meat market I go to for them this week and have been seriously craving them. They are calling for storms here tomorrow, so today will be the last day grilling for me this weekend.
  17. I don't have any in the house, but I am itching to make some baby back ribs soon (with some corn on cob). I'm trying to figure out what to make today...I might have limited options as I used last of chicken yesterday. Might just do bacon cheeseburgers and dogs with baked beans and deviled eggs today, that will make kids happy.
  18. Since it is unofficial start to summer and summer weather is here in midwest...
  19. I have not been that way for some time...but next time I am nearby I will definitely check it out. I have my almost 4 year old daughter wanting brats on the grill ha.
  20. I was doing yardwork all afternoon yesterday so just did some burgers and brats on grill. Today I am thinking grilled chicken and homemade potato salad. Hope everyone has good weekend!
  21. I think we are a week or two from knowing if things will spike up in Indiana from loosening of restrictions but... https://www.southbendtribune.com/news/local/st-joseph-county-coronavirus-cases-trending-back-up-since-indiana-loosened-regulations/article_f607bdd8-96d4-11ea-a218-cbd162c930d8.html
  22. https://sports.yahoo.com/how-could-california-state-university-systems-decision-to-go-online-only-in-fall-affect-college-football-032940912.html College/college football dominoes might be starting to fall...
  23. Very nicely done. Especially like the shower door/tiling. I think we have the same blinds!
