Makes me wonder...had May come to IU instead of UNC....would it have been enough to have saved Davis job in the long run? And would that have been a good thing??

No - May completely transformed under Williams. He went from a really good player to a completely dominant player.

If Davis was able to help players like that he would still be here.

Yes I was too laszy to go back and fix. Its either we get both Fife and Lewis with Hunter or one of the two with Hunter and Turner

Do you know the "order of offer"? I mean, is it we offer Turner & Fife and if one turns us down we move to Lewis or is it Lewis & Fife and turn to turner... we call simultaneously and the first 2 to accept...

No way.  I’m not super stoked on Woodson either, but bringing in an NBA guy with Matta playing some kind of prominent role in the program is infinitely better than running it back with Archie for one more horrible year and firing him in 2022.  It’s apparent now that Indiana isn’t interested in or able to bring in the type of coach we’ve all been hoping for since Crean was fired (Donovan, Stevens, Beard, Oats, Musselman, etc.), so this is at least a new start.  My expectations aren’t very high, but I’m at least intrigued to see how it will go.  And it’s finally put up or shut up time for the “hire an IU guy” crowd.

I think this WAS this was the #1 or #2 choice.

Given how complicated hiring both Matta AND Woodson and to keep it quiet and announce it simultaneously, this has been in the works for awhile...

Personally, I find it really exciting - good coaches can coach. I don't care if he has not coached in college.

Just imagine what he will do with TJD if he comes back one more year...

Just got texts from several Big Ten contacts. Most are lambasting the Woodson hire. One summed it up pretty well: “So a 63 yr old who’s never coached in college or recruited is the guy to rebuild that program? They could have done so much better. Indiana gonna Indiana.” #iubb

    Someone nervous!?!

Everyone who has read any of my post this is who I wanted.  This day is awesome.  Mike Woodson is going be a grand slam and IU is back!!!

Have a feeling he was plan A2 all along.

I definitely had Woodson at the top my list - I really feel his coaching record was not remotely correctly interpreted...

Probably...but I think they could give Michigan a good game.  😊

No doubt, but if you have to play UI, or MSU, Wisc... heck even UMCP or RU the next game it is a tough turnaround...

Look out our performance after "good wins" if we could follow those up with games against horrible teams (and not tough match-ups) we probably would have a very good record. We have plenty of quality wins... just a few too many mediocre losses following them.

Well, they lost to the 13th place team by 18 points. They just lost to the 9th place team.

So could they lose 1 game out of 3 to #10, #11, #12? Yes. Probabilities would be around 50/50 I'd guess. The other thing is they only rescheduled home games. Illinois has won more road games than Michigan has played.

Our AD may be saying plenty but he's a lawyer and smart enough to do those things out of the public eye. Plus Brad has probably said enough about it as is.

Maybe, but maybe they also do not lose to MSU if they were playing for the regular season title.

From a strategic point of view, that game was borderline meaningless with the rules as they had already clinched first place.

There is not as much motivation to try and be the top #1 seed because all the games are played in Indiana anyway.

The 3 games they didn't make up are PSU, IU, and Northwestern. Do you think they lose any of those games?

The only thing we're seeing now is that it was agreed upon before the season. You seem to think that wasn't the case. If it wasn't, why wouldn't your AD be saying so?

Illinois fans are assuming the we would have taken them down...

If they were rescheduling "strategically", don't you think they would have found a way to reschedule the NW, IU, or PSU game instead of an MSU game?

Maryland just blew a 15 point lead in the last 9 minutes of the game and lost to PSU 66-59.  It is official we will now play Rutgers in the BTT on Thursday.  Also i wouldn't be surprised if PSU will hire the guy who has been the interim coach this year.

he did  do a pretty solid coaching job

Well now Leary is ripping CJ on how he announced his decision at the halftime of the Super Bowl.

Leary is hilarious - I can only assume he is joking about this.

Given the video the he produced, I took the announcement timing in the opposite way. I mean the announcement is clearly buried then. I assume only diehard IU fans were paying attention.

Congrats to Gunn and IU for landing him. I don’t know Gunn’s game but I really enjoyed watching Graham. The comparison (I realize you are saying same type of player, not necessarily as good of a player) is high praise for Gunn as Graham was a burger boy coming out of high school.

I vaguely remember Greg hitting 20+ foul shots in a game one time.

Yep. Can't emphasize enough how important it is to keep stacking these types of kids in a program. Sure we want elite guys too....but having 6-7 top 100 kids in your program like this at all times is so important. We say that yesterday alone.

Congrats to CJ and his family.

Curious on one thing if anyone can expand. His Dad mentioned Gary Harris Sr as someone who is part of their circle. Interesting to say the least.

I thought Gary Harris kind of wanted to come here, but something weird with recruiting in state at the time for IU.

My knowledge is just from an earlier variant of this board... someone might be better to comment on the recruitment.

Texas produces a huge amount of basketball talent every year...for 2021 they have 5 of the top 100 kids...for 2022 they have 10 of the top 100 (according to 247)...3 5 stars and 7 4 stars...So they have the talent, it's just high school basketball here isn't a big deal like football is...

Carsen Edwards went to high school about 12 miles from where I live, and I never heard of him til he got to Purdue...

Texas is huge - they will have a lot people good at almost anything...

  14. According to here: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30706097/sources-houston-rockets-trade-james-harden-brooklyn-nets

    These are the Rockets picks:

Houston also receives Brooklyn's three unprotected first-round draft picks -- 2022, 2024 and 2026 -- in the deal, plus pick swaps in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027, according to sources. The Rockets also get Cleveland's 2022 first-round pick, via the Milwaukee Bucks.

I don't think that Pacers got picks.

So it is 4 picks and 4 swaps... not quite 8 picks!
